What’s in a Bag? 

God, there’s a lot of shit in there. 

Always on the move, always on the move. 

Rushing to work. Rushing from work to the airport. Rushing towards a red light. Gotta make sure your bag is packed. 

It was time to go home. New York, dear sweet, psychotic city you, I think we need to take a break. Only for a few days. It’s not you it’s me. I love your racing pulse, but I need a deep breath. It’s home for the holidays. It’s smile spread across your cheeks when you see that Pittsburgh skyline. It’s touch down and your girls are already wasted, waiting for you at the bar. It’s what are you thankful for? All of it. All of this. 

What do we carry with us everyday? Our emotional bags filled to the brim with each day we’ve lived before this one. All of those minutes making us who we are, right now, tap-tap typing away at the hair salon (roots were way too grown out. Symbolic?). 

A bag is a bag is a bag is a bag. Until it’s not. Until it’s filled with your precious things. A thing filled with more things has meaning. 

Headphones: So as to listen to “Guys We F*cked, The Anti-Slut Shaming Podcast” on my way to and fro that crazy new job that I have. Plug in. Smile on the subway. No one knows how inappropriate my ear buds are being. 

Laptop: From work, for work. I get a salary now, and health benefits. It all happened so…organically. I have clients. I take meetings (or rather, I assist those who have clients and take meetings). Never thought I’d love waking up so early.
