I love that he wasn’t a gentle kid. That Davrin had to be sent to Eldrin to learn respect for nature.

I love that he’s an expert woodcarver, that he spends his free time in nature and appreciates the beauty of the world.

I love that caring for Assan helped Davrin find purpose after the realization that he was robbed of a death he had claimed as his own. That it gave him something to focus on that wasn’t Weisshaupt.

I love that, despite his outward demeanor, Davrin is not a man of exceptional duty. In fact, if you look for more than a minute, you’ll see Davrin is the King of Leaving Bad Situations. He leaves behind the restrictive traditions of the Dalish. He abandons a lucrative career. Hell, Davrin essentially leaves the Grey Wardens as soon as their purpose no longer suits his goals.

And none of this is framed as a bad thing, because it isn’t. It’s growth. It’s the kid who hunted anything that moved becoming a guardian of the living.
