“I’m just glad you were safe..” Isabella admitted, with a light sigh, her gaze moving to settle on Lucas’ face for moment. “I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you again..” The young brunette said with a smile.

Lucas couldn’t help the smile that began to pull at his lips as he listened to her words and shook his head. “You’re unbelievable.” The words came out with amusement -- he was amazed if anything. “How can you be worrying about me when you had to go through all that?” His gaze met hers and he half-sighed, half-laughed. He lifted his arm and placed it around her shoulder, pulling her body towards him for a much needed hug. He stopped in place and wrapped his other arm around her. “I couldn’t lose you, either.” He said, his voice low.

Elias’ gaze immediately dropped to the floor as Lucas mentioned Illyria’s sister, he couldn’t begin to imagine how his friend was feeling. The younger of the MacMillan siblings didn’t have any magic, and every witch or wizard knew just how the Death Eaters felt about non-magic folk. As Lucas spoke, Elias quickly moved his gaze back up and shook his head. “No.. Don’t think like that. If they have been taken, surely there would be no way of knowing that she.. Illyria surely wouldn’t let anything happen to her sister..” The male spoke quickly, his heart pounding heavily in his chest as his thoughts flashed back to when he had found Illyria being attacked by a Death Eater during the last attack on the town. She would surely have been terrified.. He should have been there to protect her. “Have we any idea where they could have taken them?” Elias questioned his friend.

Lucas was aware that Elias was probably right about both of those facts. They would have no way of knowing that Bella was non-magical, beyond the fact that they may not recognise her. Then again, Lucas was unsure of just how much pureblood families would know about the Macmillan’s -- they were pureblood too, after all. Not being from this world only gave him more questions to ask. And he was also right that Illyria would not let anything happen to her sister -- he had seen just how caring the eldest Macmillan could be in regards to her siblings. That didn’t stop those negative thoughts from finding their way to his mind. “I know, E, but --” he shook his head. He didn’t want to think the worst, but he couldn’t help it. “I need to find her.” He told his friend plainly. Lucas frowned slightly. He knew the area, being an observer, but they were never permitted to head too far out. “A nearby town -- or clearing?” It was a guess, but the only thing he could think of.

Elias registered the worry that laced his friend’s face and ran a hand back through his hair as he listened to the other male speak - his words only making Eli worry more about Illyria’s safety. The male inwardly cursed himself for not going to find her when the attack had begun, he was stupid to think that she would be able to protect herself against god knows how many Death Eaters. Elias gnawed on his bottom lip, not knowing how to respond to his friend or calm his worrying, because he himself was now doing the same. “Have you searched the library? The hospital?” He knew what the answer would be, Lucas didn’t mess around when it came to Isabella, Eli knew that he would have searched everywhere for her, though he felt it necessary to ask nonetheless. 

Lucas couldn’t blame Elias for suggesting alternative places to look, and he would have been thankful had he not checked those places already. “Done and done. I’ve looked everywhere I can think of.” Perhaps that was going a bit far, but in times like these worry was allowed. And while Lucas and Isabella were not together, he liked to think they were friends. “I just -- can’t help but think the worst.” He sighed. “And if they’ve got them...” Lucas didn’t want to know what the Death Eaters would do, or had done, to Isabella if they got her -- she had no magic of her own. That almost as bad, perhaps worse than being a muggle in their books.

During the raid, Elias had chosen to stay put inside the house and guard the dragon egg. Though he worried about Illyria, part of him knew that he would be able to protect herself. It had been a day or two since the attack and the town was still recovering, yet Elias still hadn’t heard from the brunette. Well, he hadn’t heard from her much at all in the past few weeks, not since she took it into her own hands to take their relationship into a whole new area of uncertainty. The dark haired male had been making his way out of the house to begin his shift when he almost ran into his best friend who immediately questioned him about the woman who occupied his thoughts. “Not for a while.. Should I have?” He raised a brow toward his friend who was obviously distressed about something.

Lucas waited not-so-patiently for his friends reply, and it was not the answer he was hoping for. Neither of them had answered when he had tried to check up on Isabella, he was hoping that at least Elias would have heard from Illyria. Lucas sighed. “I went by their place... and there was no answer. The door was unlocked.” Now, he was certainly worrying, if he hadn’t been before -- which he had. “I stayed for a while, but...” He frowned, looking down at the floor for a moment before meeting his friends gaze again. “I don’t know where they could be.” They had to be somewhere, right? Isabella had to be okay.

After ensuring that his sister was okay and knowing Eli had been present in the house before he had left, Lucas’ top priority was Bella. Naturally, he’d made his way through the streets to her house and there was no answer at the door. With this in mind, he’d pushed the door open and found that it wasn’t locked either. That didn’t seem right to him. Alarm bells were ringing in his head, and he’d rushed home to catch Eli before he started his shift for the day -- if it hadn’t already changed. Lucas returned to their place just as Eli had been exiting. “You heard from Illyria?” He asked, pressing his lips together.

Lucas was stood in the kitchen, listening to the water in the kettle slowly boil as he examined Simon the egg. It was only a matter of time before they would have a wonderful baby dragon on their hands. That might be a little more difficult to take care of, Lucas was realising, during the wars -- with the constant raids of the town. Still, he and Eli had done a decent job so far. Hearing footsteps from the door, he turned his gaze to the entry way. There stood his little sister. He straightened up and a sigh of relief passed through his lips. He had been out all night and all through the morning surveying the area. He hadn’t even been to sleep yet. He was glad to finally have some time off, and that his worry could be calmed. “Fuck Mia. Don’t do that again --” Lucas sighed and stepped forward, pulling his sister into a hug. “If something like that ever happens again, I want you to stay here.”

“Why not?” Elsie asked, her brows furrowed as she glanced at the male briefly before pulling herself out the window. Once she’d managed to get out she poked her head back through with a grin. “But it’s a plan nonetheless so come on slow poke.”

“Because it will almost certainly result in negative outcomes.” Lucas stated, brows furrowed. Surely that much was obvious. “A plan that may get us killed.” He moved over to the window and hopped quickly through, wand at his side ready to confront any trouble they got themselves into.

Elias laughed lightly then nodded his head. “I’m surprised we didn’t notice any sooner.” He shrugged his shoulders. “Hey.. I heard that her sister is back in town.” Eli stated with a smirk, eyebrow raised.

Lucas couldn’t help but roll his eyes at his friend’s comment. He should have expected it, really. “She is.” He nodded, a smile coming to his lips for a moment -- he couldn’t help it. “Been here for a little while, actually.”

Elias tried to force a smile onto his face as his friend continued to speak. “I’m surprised I didn’t see the rest of them.” He laughed lightly with a shrug of his shoulders. “Yeah, definitely keep the ninja thing in mind just in case.” Elias shook his head with yet another laugh.

“They weren’t supposed to be well hidden -- given that you had to see them.” Lucas laughed, shaking his head slightly. “It’s on hold, for now.”

As Lucas spoke, Elias found a frown moving onto his face. “Mistletoe?” He asked, lips parted as a dry laugh fell through them. “Oh, right.. Yeah - the mistletoe.” He nodded his head as a hand scooped back through his hair. Elias hadn’t seen any mistletoe in the vicinity of his and Illyria’s moment.. Though perhaps that was why she had kissed him - maybe she didn’t feel the same as he did after all.

Lucas’ brows drew together for a moment, before his friend finally recalled the mistletoe. Though, there was certainly a shift in the mood, Lucas barely acknowledged it, too high in reminiscing about his mighty plan. “I put quite a few around the house -- who knew where you’d end up after the kitchen. But I managed to sneak some into the kitchen as well. Thinking ahead, see.” He nodded proudly. “I’d make one great ninja, if this wizard thing doesn’t work out.” He chuckled lightly.

As Lucas came down the stairs, Elias coughed heavily and tried to compose himself, lips pressing together into a thin line as he forced his smile to settle into a confident smirk. “She kissed me.. She’s totally into me.” He shrugged cockily. 

And there they were. The words he had been waiting to hear. A smile spread on his lips. “I fucking knew that mistletoe would work!” He exclaimed. “You two were taking so long. You needed a good kick up the arse.”

Lucas made his way up the stairs, heading in the direction that Illyria had pointed him to. He was still afraid he would get the wrong room though. Standing outside of the mostly closed door, Lucas tapped lightly on the wood three times before gently speaking. “Hey, Bella?” His hand came out to push the door open slightly so that he was able to peer into the room. And, it seemed he had followed the directions correctly because there she was, lying in bed. A smile grew on his lips. Even when she was ill, he was happy to see her. “So, I heard you weren’t feeling very well and I thought that maybe you would like something to help?” He said, holding out a bowl of his mother’s special homemade soup. It didn’t have any magical properties, of course, especially because it didn’t have the kind, gentle touch of his mother to really instil that love of cooking into the broth -- but it always helped him when he wasn’t feeling good. Whether it was sickness or something else. Perhaps that was just his mother’s cooking though. Still, he had tried it before coming over and it seemed just fine to him. The wizard walked over to the bedside table and placed the bowl down, pulling out a spoon that Illyria had given him just moments before, and he placed that beside it. “And if that doesn’t help, then I thought some company might.” Lucas offered a smile.
