Universe Blip

This past June, I packed up and drove down the coast from OR to CA.

I had done a lot of healing in OR and it was time to get back into my life. I could think of worse places to do that than San Diego :). I'm taking a break from therapy work and discharging individuals from Internal Medicine inpatient unit.

It's a nice break, I can leave work at work and it's pretty straight forward. A lot of herding cats at times but it can be rewarding work.

WoW! Boy have things changed in my life.

Major life changes, growth, and moving towards peace in multiple venues of my life. I'm due to download this all into the universe.

I finally got a firm offer for a new job. I need a break from clinical work so here we go.

This had been my second time working for the VHA and it will be my last. As a Veteran I love working with and helping Veterans, but the VHA.....it's not a great place to work. There are good VHAs to work for...from what I've heard, but I'm not going to try it again.

Veteran's care suffers due to the shit show behind the scenes and unfortunately, there are a lot of people that have been promoted to their level of incompetence and they are more worried about their ass than doing what is right for the Veterans.

The other week I got picked, but I was the back up to the back up if they didn't select enough people. So I just hung out all day, chatting with some lovely ladies and reading a good book. There were a good amount of people, a hundred if not more...

Looking around it was 97% white people... A jury of your peers? A snapshot of the population? Not so much 😞

I wonder about the fairness of it all.

I read an interesting article the other day about getting the most out of your time off. Bottom line, if you're more sedentary, mentally taxed....get outside, do something more physical on your time off, something creative. Then the opposite for physically demanding types. Makes sense....

My job is not physically active but mentally taxing so goals for this weekend, get outside, be more physically active, try something creative.

Self-care. It's talked about all the time. I talk to clients about it all the time, how it's important and needs to be a priority.

Do I do it well? No

I am ALWAYS restarting an exercise routine, trying to eat healthy....not have dinners of popcorn and wine all the time. But I do what I can and keep trying. Living alone I don't have much accountability about things.

Bought this motivational water bottle on a whim. IT ACTUALLY WORKS for me. I see it and I'm like "I gotta hit those time hacks".

Yet another rainy day, at least I get to telework today!

A little intro...I'm an introverted, 46yo single female. I'm a LCSW working with military members and Veterans for the past 8 yrs, after serving in the AF for 20yrs. I've had a few failed marriages, the last one was pretty harsh so I've been enjoying the single living.
