FEMININE SCREAMING

“Did you slam the door to the Mystery Machine on your man parts again?”

“NO.”

   perfectly manicured nails met with the hard  surface of the table while she waited for her    friends’ arrival. usually,    she would have waited them to get there to start drinking her    promptly served malt shake but it was starting to get warm && no one seemed to be    coming anytime soon. 

   ‘ FREDDY. hey! ‘ with a delayed sigh, she met fred’s eyes && immediately lightened up.    thank god, they didn’t stood her up. well, not all of them. 

   cheeks turning red at fred’s announcement,      daphne finally seemed to realize that they    were really JUST the two of them. oh, not awkward at all.  she tried to brush her bangs    with her fingers, fixing her headband in place. 

“I figured we could still go over stuff - get back to ‘em later with some ideas, you know? No sense in wasting the whole afternoon and rushing through plans later.”

And we can still hang out, was left unspoken. Fred was never very vocal about how much he liked spending time with Daphne - mostly because Velma and Shaggy would start teasing if he was; but even now they were alone the words stuck on his tongue like glue. 

Maybe it was a more rational part of his mind letting him know it would be a stupid thing to say. What if he made things weird? It was so rare the gang were alone in pairs when there wasn’t a mystery keeping everyone busy; moments like these were still pretty uncharted territory. It wasn’t quite awkward, but it was certainly strange having so many more gaps to fill without the rest of the gang there to chatter away as well. One had to talk twice as much - but would one always have enough to say?

“That’s a matter of opinion, Daph! I sure don’t think he’s that awesome! God or not, I don’t know what you see in a guy who’s nothing but looks and magic powers. Who probably can’t even build good ghost traps (which is a totally fair comparison, by the way, since he’s an actual god and all).”
