NEW MUSIC!!!
I picked up this release from 2014 recently (so it is new to me...). It is from London label ‘On The Corner’ Records, which describes itself as “Deep Jazz-Experimental Electronic-Field recordings from the Future”. The group is ‘Collocutor’. The LP is called ‘Instead’. And the deep exotic sounds that come from it are a wonder. It is really one to get lost in.
On The Corner say that 'Instead' is the sound of continents, time and space all merging. Tamar Osborn, the saxophone / flute / clarinet player that leads the project, cites influences of Yusef Lateef and Joe Henderson, and Classical, Indian and African styles. Osborn also plays with ‘Emanative’, whose ‘The Light Years Of The Darkness’ has to be one of my most enjoyed records of 2015.
