Someone had a bubble machine at my city's No Kings rally today. :)
The bubbles were just one part of my favorite aspect of No Kings: the energy. It's enthusiastic and optimistic. It's welcoming and reassuring. People feel safe enough to bring their kids and their dogs. They get super into the spirit with signs, flags, and costumes. It's truly wonderful.
Energy alone won't topple this joke of a regime, but it will draw crowds (we had about 15,000 in my mid-sized city alone) and encourage us to take action together. Stay strong, and keep fighting.

My family hadn't been to Cedar Point since the pandemic, so we were excited to go and see what was different! My dad had to back out due to some sudden medical stuff (he's okay, not in any imminent danger of death; just not allowed to ride roller coasters anymore) and figured it would be better anyway if he stayed at home with our dog. We still had a few of my cousins to hang out with, though, and it was the little ones' first time at Cedar Point.
I will say, $200+ for one all-day Fast Lane Plus bracelet is ridiculous. We opted to just tough out the longer lines. The waits weren't that bad, though. I think the worst one was Top Thrill 2 on Day 1, and even that was only an hour or so since it was close to closing time. I've certainly sat through worse. We just wanted a fun time at the park, anyway, and that's what we got. :)
Now for an approximate ride timeline over the course of my stay.
Day 1
Gemini
It's a family tradition to ride Gemini first. The blue train was out of service, but it was still a good time with a very short line.
Steel Vengeance
Just as spectacular as I remembered. Amusement parks in general are marvels of engineering, but SteVe especially blows my mind. It's a real powerhouse of a ride experience, and it makes for a visually stunning structure. Also, the Frontier Town character bios in the queue. I love them. They add even more flavor to this already lively section of the park. They kind of make me miss the characters from that "Battle for Cedar Point" app they were promoting like ten years ago, too.
Top Thrill 2
This one certainly gets the award for "most insane." I mean, we built a track as tall as a skyscraper (420 feet/128 meters), with trains that can travel about twice as fast as a cheetah (120 mph/193 kph), that also launches you backwards, just for fun. And it was fun. The descent down the spike was my favorite part.
Day 2
Top Thrill 2 (again)
We wanted to get another ride in with at least one of the other party members since Day 1's ride was just me and my mom--so we did just that. Our companion was shaking by the end of the ride, but she said that she loved it!
Millennium Force
It may not have a ton of gimmicks or fancy tricks, but I'd say Millie still deserves its place as the park's flagship coaster. It's a thrill in its simplest, purest form.
Atomic Scrambler
I was with the older of the two kids for this one. She's not a big fan of roller coasters, but she likes most of the park's other offerings. Atomic Scrambler, though? It was a bit much for her. She said it was "too chaotic" like five times. I don't blame her. It was a bit faster than I remembered, and she slammed into me since she didn't have a good grip on the bar restraint. ^^"
Wild Mouse
I'm normally good with spinning rides, but this one legitimately made me dizzy! Appropriately, my party was placed on the green "Dizzy" mouse car. The ride was faster than I expected for its compact structure. Very fun, though! I love the retro feel of the signage and decor, too.
Sky Ride
This one is always a delight. It's nice to take a break from walking around the park and enjoy the scenery.
Iron Dragon
The younger kid turned out to be a huge fan of this one. She rode it twice in a row, then had me join her later for a third ride. It's a great gateway coaster for a kid of her age--not as crazy as the bigger rides, but still exciting in its own right. It would be cool if they got the fog rolling over the pond again, though.
Siren's Curse
So cool! The tilt at the top of the lift hill is out of this world. The siren's voice playing over the speaker was also super neat. The Lake Erie Shipping theme in the queue was a bit weird, but I get it. Work with what you have, especially when you're given a ride that was meant to be at a different park. Freshwater lake sirens are a fun concept, anyway.
Maverick
My mom and I got in line before closing time, and we were lucky enough to get front-row seats on one of the trains! Gosh, I love this ride. It has always been one of my favorite coasters in the park. It's crazy intense for how small it is, but it doesn't rough you up the way some of the other rides do (Corkscrew...). And that 95-degree drop on the first hill? Simply amazing.
All in all, it was great to be back. We didn't get to do everything, but that just means there's more for next time.

Oh. Oh, cool. My brain is dragging me onto the MLP infection AU train again, and it chose to latch onto Divine Swamp Fever. Thank you, brain. I didn't want to sleep tonight, anyway. 🫠
Even before getting to the doll, the box is amazing. It has a fine, glittery finish all over, and the window frame being a giant fish's mouth is just perfect. The spooky aquarium hallway on the box insert is also spectacular (though it's a little weird to have silhouettes of both Ghouls Rule Clawdeen and Great Scarrier Reef Clawdeen). I'm glad to see illustrator and designer credits on the top of the box, too. Sometimes, it's easy to forget that there are so many people behind the design processes for these things.
Now, on to Lagoona herself. I still wish she had proper green eyes, but otherwise, her face is stunning. The purple blush works well with the otherwise dark, smoky makeup. The bigger, fancier leg fins are also great--such a simple change, but they help to balance her legs with her huge sleeves. The hair is heavier on the gel than I expected, but I do like the damp, "just got out of the water" look that the style produces.
How about the outfit? Well... I understand where people are coming from when they say that it's too simple. The dress is a bit understated, and the plastic accessories are unpainted (barring the lure on the anglerfish mask). That said, I can't help but love it anyway. Teal is such a good (and surprisingly underutilized) color for Lagoona, and the gold/iridescent sheen on the fabric gives it a perfect sprinkle of intrigue. The ruffled texture is a great way to convey the appearance of fishy fins, and I love how it feels. The fishnet stockings? Classic. The pleather sleeves and boots? May be subject to degradation in the future (will handle with care), but I think they're quirky and fun, especially with the shimmery speckles. The heels and accessories? I'm pretty forgiving of the lack of paint since the sculpting is phenomenal--particularly on the heels and mask. I don't know what painted details would suit the design anyway, if any at all. Less is more sometimes...though I am also not a doll designer. :p
Finally, the special stand base. I wasn't that crazy about it in the stock photos, but it's way better in person--sturdy and spacious, but not bulky. Lagoona's personal Skullette etched in the center is a nice touch as well.
So yeah. I love Ghouls Rule Lagoona, and I'm so glad I was able to get her!

I gave her all of my tips from my previous experience with buying Haunt Couture Lagoona in 2022 (I haven't bought directly from Mattel Creations since then), but thanks to scummy resellers and their bots, there's still a huge element of luck. Frankly, I am very nervous. This release feels like a true wild card. She has a polarizing design, but she's still a main ghoul. Will she sell out in two minutes like literally any Draculaura ever? Will she stick around for an hour like Sweet Screams Twyla? All I can do is stalk the product page and hope that at least one of us succeeds...
If we both fail...then I'll just be sad, but grateful to have someone in my life who's willing to do all this for me. TwT

I may or may not have gotten myself a copy of the Hazbin Hotel Bar Book because I am a sucker for fandom cookbooks...
...and being the old-fashioned non-drinker I am, the first recipe I decided to try was Rosie's Sweet Tea. I had a very busy day, and this is exactly the kind of pick-me-up that I needed. It's very heavy on the lemon. This is a good thing for me. I love lemon. The ginger, rosemary, and basil add just a touch of earthy, spicy goodness in the background. Very good. Perfect summertime tisane. Highly recommend.
Tom Trench's Tiki Tipple and the Virgin Sacrifice Piña Colada are next on my list. I'm excited to try them! I wanted to take a stab at Charlie's Cordial Cake or the Crispy Eyeballs, too, but my oven decided to die yesterday, so they'll have to wait. :')
When I was a child, I had the distinct feeling I wasn’t like other girls. Not in a misogynistic quirky way, I had a difficult time fitting in with my peers and it caused me a great deal of consternation. It as very difficult to articulate what was different and I would lay awake at night wondering why what the fuck was wrong with me. Then I realized I wasn’t like other girls because I wasn’t a girl.
Dude, when I was a kid, I drank the "not like other girls" Kool-aid like there was no tomorrow--with all the misogynistic crap. I was overcompensating so much for not fitting in (and probably picking up some of the nastier parts of 2010s internet/gaming culture). So cringe. I'm glad that I'm not that bad anymore.
I'm still a nerd, but at least I'm ~self actualized~ to some degree now...even if it took many years to reach this point. I can stop compensating for not being the "ideal" girl/woman because I've realized that (1) misogyny is trash, and (2) I'm not a girl/woman at all.
