Maybe he stretching himself thin by inserting himself at every step of the process because he's never learned to trust anyone else to be competent at their jobs, to the point of neglecting his duties as a co-owner, a husband and a father. Maybe trying to be everywhere all at once culminated in those "multiple simultaneous springlock failures" talked about in the fnaf 3 tapes.

Maybe he hid behind William being "the businessman" of their partnership, not only because he was more proficient at running the company, but because he knew William could be ruthless in ways he couldn't bring himself to be. Maybe he turned a blind eye to the dirty business practices—the aggressive manipulation when acquiring a competitor's brand, the policies built around legal loopholes, the willingness to play fast and loose with the lives of employees and customers for the sake of the company— because William was the one to turn his pipe dream into a reality. Maybe he overlooked the redflags that showed up in William's family life, because he knew that there would be no Fazbear Entertainment without him. Maybe he watched William destroy the life of their former friend and business partner while convincing himself that wasn't anything personal— just business. Maybe he gave William free rein of the company, because he decided that William knew everything about business that he didn't while never bothering to learn more than what was necessary to get by. Maybe he hung onto this belief, not only because he didn't want his time being steered away from his true passions, but because he didn't want to be culpable in the company's malpractice.
