Strongly recommend Braiding Sweetgrass if you want to develop a well-rounded ethical framework for interacting with nature. Some of you are kinda puritanical in your thinking and it's helping neither you nor nature.

Heinrich Kley (1863–1945)
“Walpurgisnacht” (Walpurgis Night)

I think a lot of Traditional Witchcraft practitioners would benefit from researching and answering these prompts by Thorn Mooney!
talismanic prints! one for me, one for my boyfriend who did the design, and one for my friend who found the election--i’m quite pleased!
The amount of witches and pagans making entire posts using AI is actually insane to me. It's truly hellish being able to spot AI and its patterns so easily because just one post has my entire perception of someone changing entirely and I can't even explain it to others because if you dare to point out all the patterns that AI is programmed to use and will always use, people get up in arms about their favourite creator being accused of something.
So I'll just say this.
I see you.
I know what you're doing.
Even if you think no one will notice, even if you remove your emdashes and whatnot, I assure you. I noticed.
Doesn't matter if I'm just one person. With the amount of AI generated BS going around, so many more people will start to notice patterns between all these creators. Why are they structured the same way? Why do the same sentence structures keep repeating? Why are there so many groups of three? Why does the tone sound so different from what this person usually posts?
Why does everyone sound the same?
You are disappointing. I hope others see it too, and I hope they are just as disappointed as I am.

The way occult trends travel through online communities is so fascinating. Because a practice, for example, might be done by a folk population on the DL for a while before it makes its way into trendy circles. Then one pretty picture later or by the suggestion of a random internet white man and now suddenly that thing is spreading like wildfire through Tumblr, tiktok, Facebook or Instagram without any critical thought about, "do I need to be learning this, or is it something I can simply appreciate from afar?" Most won't have that though before they go and swip their credit card for that "new" product or "new" class that totally isn't just lifted from somewhere else the individual may or may not reference.
Trends in the occult are no different from other trends when the current occult market depends on capitalistic motivations.
I had a conversation with a friend about this very thing
And let me throw my coin in the buzzword/trendy action bucket, but for Good (because why not, it might be fun):
the next most powerful thing to be as a witch or magical practitioner isss ->
✨becoming actively conscious and MINDFUL about the things you see fit to add to your practice✨
Wowww omg you're soooo advaaaanced if you just stop collecting things like a demented magpie and start actively engaging the rationale behind things that you see and choose to pick up, you guuuyyysss, you're sooo 'Advanced Witch™'

Thoughts on Train Tracks and their Magickal Significance
As someone who's done a nonzero amount of train hopping and a lot of travelling, I have the belief that the rails are conduits for a lot of power. Lots of blood and suffering was poured onto them (mostly by slave labor, and further mostly people of color) in the quest for the intercontinental railroad. Millions were displaced for it to be laid. That suffering has soaked into the hot iron, and as it traces its way across the country it carries that power with it.
It's not all suffering, of course. In the time since, the rails have been a way to connect people, whether it's commuters using local light rail or oogles stowing away on a grainer porch, it also bears the energy of travel, of meetings and departings, and of new beginnings. Countless songs and poems have been written about the rails, of their sordid and brutal history and their hopeful and trailblazing futures, and even of their incredibly monumental existence as it currently is.
Before a trip, one of my favorite rituals is to bury a jar or sachet of offerings to Hermes near the local hop-out, and if I'm actually hopping, I'll pour out a little wine bottle from the local convenience store onto the rails I rode in on, as thanks for getting me there.
Next time you find yourself near some railroad tracks, take some time to sit and appreciate the hot iron, listen to a train go by if you can (safely of course). Read the tags and monikers that oogles and riders have left on the boxcars, carrying a bit of their essence on to the next destination. Appreciate the art of taggers and the love and care they put into it. Wave at an engineer, it'll make their day I promise.

Some excerpts from The Book of Ceremonial Magic a complete Grimoire by Arther Edward Waite
How do you know about all this esoteric stuff? I want to be in your mind. I want to know what you know
It involves reading a lot of incomprehensible books written by weirdos that died several centuries ago
~Cooling & Protecting the Home with Bluing and Camphor~
If there's one piece of advice I can give, it's to deconstruct your practice regularly.
How much of it is actually useful, how much of it applies to your spirits or cosmology?
Who or what do you neglect regularly? What areas need more attention, more focus? What flames need to be tended?
Is there anything that no longer serves a purpose? Can anything be simplified to greater effect? How much time do you devote to strengthening your core skills and foundations?
It's about cutting away the dead pieces, so that there is room for new growth to flourish.
Black Book Tour
A couple people have asked me about my Book and the features it has, so here we go :3
It is essentially this; a Voyager notebook. It's modular and uses elastic bands to hold the little notebook inserts in place. I used to have a really thick junk journal, but it was just very cumbersome to transport and wasn't practical in a lot of other ways. I was really inspired by reading @cafeconbrujeria posting about their Book. I believe they said that the book should be the only item they absolutely need to pack when traveling (or something along those lines), and that's definitely carried over into my own practice.

I think, as a community, there is one thing we must reflect upon as we welcome those walking those bramble covered paths- The Man in Black is not the only tutor of the craft. In those woods, ladies of luck and harlequins hide. On those peaks, Dama in Red sweep up those who come asking the right questions. Your teacher may be a shining and radiant Lord Under the Hill. You may come across a Lady of the Waters or a Man Upon the Oak who take you under their wings and fins. Take tutelage where you find it, where it is right, do not go seeking a black goat if he is not to be found for you.
There is no uniformity, no monolithic figure of roads. A witch is a scavenger and deal maker, and the Earth is a many faced creature.
