NEVER COMIN' BACK

    not for the first time, he thinks fondly of the glade, of the maze, of the home they’d built there despite being trapped. he hopes they can do it again here. “no one’s judging you if you need some time alone, but you don’t have to keep punishing yourself, gal. they’ve forgiven you.” chuck’s forgiven you.

    “i don’t think i ever got to properly apologize.” the mason jar of amber liquid he’s holding out looks suspiciously familiar for a reason ( gally’s distillery was back in business ) but ben hoped it’s purpose as a peace offering was obvious enough. “for what happened back in the maze, i mean. i wasn’t... myself.”

    “you’re awfully quiet.” they all were, nowadays, and ben supposed it was for good reason. the word veterans pops into his head whenever he looks out over his friends, over the new society they’re putting together. he takes a seat next to gally without being prompted, settles there before going on. “got a lot on your mind? or do you just have nothing to say?”

    “i’ll see what i can do. y’have any preference?” not that there was a huge selection of alcoholic beverage possibilities here, but ben was sure he could muster something up for her. “think there’s a shot or two of gin left. not sure what that mixes well with.”

     “can i get you another coke?” in all honesty, he’s not sure what she’d been drinking ( red cups aren’t see through after all ) but he might as well get her another one. excuse his southern upbringing.

    “I don’t plan on getting left behind, that’s for sure.” Ben gives a dry chuckle, but it’s not enough to ward off his nerves. He’d been in the Glade long enough to know that the Maze was full of very real dangers, ones he hoped he wouldn’t have to personally face. 

    “Pray tell, what is your kind of fun?” You’ll have to forgive Ben, he’s a little behind the curve when it comes to technology. He’s maybe only had a smartphone for a year now, and he definitely hasn’t downloaded Instagram yet. “You don’t seem like the type that’d be satisfied sitting everything out.”

i really like drew van acker as ben i just wish he had his hair brushed off his forehead and out of his face more often !!

    It’s almost hard to believe Riley and Minho are related ( much less 2/3 of triplets ) considering how different they are. It’s a nice dichotomy, though. Riley tends to be a bit more down-to-earth than her brothers. “Think he found a new trail he wants to drag me out on. Not sure if he’s trying to pull Tom and Newt in on it, too.”
