What you did to me cannot be covered up by all the laughs, all the late nights, all the nice things. I am tired of giving people I love free passes to my heart because there is only so much hurt I can take. I am tired of ignoring bad behavior to make you more comfortable. I’m uncomfortable. So, I decided to put my pieces back together, all on my own, and you cannot fathom that. That I can live without you, but I promise you that I can. I have before, and I will again. Your sharp words have no space here anymore. I will grow and bloom into a person who is unrecognizable to you, and I am grateful that I have that chance, the chance to be a stranger to you.

And for you?

You’ll be left, every single time. I hope the next one is smarter, sees more clearly than I do. I hope she notices the overcompensation, doesn’t overlook the same stories, puts together the pieces I never could because I was so blinded by loving you. 

I hope she sees it, and I hope she runs.
