it really is an actual pit of despair, and itβs so clear how people get drawn into extremism through social media like that.
I think if we all start posting nipples at once they won't be able to stop all of us. and by they I don't just mean tumblr staff I'm referring to the entire world. I began feeling part of the community, but had quickly grown disillusioned. I cannot be quiet in a community with a predator, especially not when I am best friends with a victim. I cannot be quiet while a "radical centrist" makes everyone uncomfortable and even attempts to police my language. I cannot be quiet when they are inclined to believe a sexual assaulter over someone trying to protect others from them.
Queercraft is a community that does not handle accountability well.
I am grateful for the friends I've made, however I cannot stay in a space where strange, harassment type messages are allowed (even when about straight people). Furthermore, after leaving the server, all of my "friends" suddenly seemed to forget I have ever existed. I was constantly giving to receive empty words.
You will not matter to them. You will not be safe.
This is all based on MY experience and is MY opinion
yknow, as counterintuitive as it may seem, helping a suicidal friend isn't a matter of stopping them from dying. it's about helping to make their world one that's worth living in.
it's important to make that distinction, lest we make people's quality of life worse in the name of "protecting" them.
