status: closed w @greers location: at one of the food tables The last time Renzie had visited the Greery Carpentry, old Joe Greer happened to be there. He'd filled Ren with great excitement over the upcoming Flower Dance. Stories about first loves, romping dances - and most importantly for the old fellow, great food. Grandpa had assured Ren that the specialty dish he was making this year would be the best he'd ever make. Renzie would have to try it.
What else could Ren do to promise he would? He really liked the cut of Grandpa Joe's jib. Practically an establishment himself in Thistleberry, it seemed.
So the Flower Dance came around, and Renzie had an empty plate as he perused the food table, searching for Grandpa Joe's specialty dish. Had to be here somewhere. The old man was so darn proud.
Instead of the infamous dish, Renzie found Rory - the next closest thing to Grandpa Joe, in name anyway. Renzie hadn't gotten to acquainted with them yet, but maybe now was his chance, so he offered a hello smile.
"Hey - it's Rory, right? I'm Renzie Anand. Uh, Acosta-Anand. New owner of the Creature Comforts Café," he held his hand out for a fistbump...which might be totally cringe for kids these days, but whatever. "Say - your Grandpa was talking up his special dish at the dance, think you could point me in its direction?"
rory was sweating bullets eating their second cup of chili while their grandpa made the rounds. they knew that he was sad knowing that richie wasn't here to participate like he usually was. rory had tried to rein in their feelings about the whole thing knowing that richie had been the one to leave but today wasn't about the woes of dysfunctional family but to make today a memorable one for everyone else, their grandpa included. they had sat back for a moment wiping the sweat with the back of their hand. the food was always their favourite part and this year was no different. having seen someone walking over towards them they had tried to give back the gentle smile but ended up laughing. "that man will take their chili recipe to his grave," they got up from their seat and walked over towards the big crockpot of chili knowing that they had another one on standby. "been perfecting it with his buddies the last couple of days and swear this is the best one yet." they wipe their hands on their pants and fist bump them back before leaning against the table. "oh shit, that's you? that's sick, i'm always happy to see more establishments opening up in this place," aside from joja of course, but they were going to keep that to themselves for now.
