me as a pilot
me: Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. I have an announcement to make but first you have to promise not to get mad
I AM LAUGHING SO HARD
10:38pm
@greenlcntern
dread weighs on him so heavy that kyle feels like heâs being crushed by it. heâs on the ground because his ring is faltering â as hope withers in his chest, kyle finds the ring impossibly hard to control. he looks at hal pleadingly, searching for some sort of answer or reassurance.  â whatâs â whatâs going on ?? this is⌠â unprecedented comes to mind, but he doesnât know what to say anyway.  â whatâs going on with the league ?? whatâs the plan ?? â there, thatâs a safe question. right ??
itâs not often that hal resents the responsibility of the role he has as leader when it comes to the lanterns, and perhaps even more so of being a founding member of the justice league, but itâs times like these that he doesâtimes when theyâve failed, times when thereâs the kind of catastrophic, devastating loss that no words and certainly no amount of bravado can brush off. â no clue, â he says, honestly, because heâs not in a position to lie to kyle of all people about pretending to have answers that he so clearly doesnât. â supermanâsâ â what does he even say? bats mightâve been the brains of the operation, but clark was the face and the heart, and that heart got crushed in ways hal canât even begin to fathom. heâd tried. tried imagining what it would be like in his place, to be tricked into killing barry with his own two hands, to let that murder trigger the bomb that destroyed eleven million lives you were sworn to protect. â ...heâs grieving, â hal finishes. â we all are. â

modecrasher:
BART knows he should listen to hal and barry. to jay. but also â heâs pretty sure the part of him thatâs related to hal refuses to listen to batmanâs rules. or well, his orders. âi need to help everywhere, i can just stay in central. if gotham needs me or â if metropolis needs me? iâm there.â he says it in an almost stern voice. if bart had a stern voice at least.Â
on a different day, hal might be proud to watch his grandson ( boy, heâd never get used to that one, would he? ) really give bats and his orders the middle finger. but itâs not a different day, and the air already crackles with something bad, like the moment just before a balloon pops when you know itâs comingâbut, the thing is, halâs got no idea whatâs coming. it just feels big and dangerous. everything is too quiet, and lois is some red herring. â no way. we need you in central, because flash canât be there right now. and since youâve decided to put on the KF monikerâthat means thatâs where you gotta be. thatâs where people will be looking for you. and who knows what cold and his dumbass band of misfits is cooking up. â
âHEY â on your left,â bart called, zooming past. he turned back though, âyou heard anything?â he asks, catching his breath walking beside the other.Â
â nothing useful. â itâd been a day. hal already had to recharge his ring once. â but you and the rest of your squad should stay on the ground. business as usual, blah blah, you heard bats. somebodyâs got to watch out for central, no? â
flcsh:
multitasking. that was how heâd keep moving. he spoke with his mouth full, because there wasnât really time for social pleasantriesâŚthough a hand move to cover the lower half of his face. ânufing yeh,â he said, nearly unintelligible before he swallowed. ânothing yet, i mean.â though he knew for a fact that nothing had happened, his eyes flicked over halâsecond nature now. green lantern seemed alright, if not exhausted. wordlessly, barry held out his drink to him and his foot tapped repeatedly on the floor, a bundle of anxious energy and frustration. âif we canât find them that means it was planned. probably for weeks. maybe longer.â
hal became fluent in barryspeakingwithhismouthfullese nearly a decade ago, rendering the post-swallow translation redundant, but something about the simple familiarity of that moment was more than enough to make him, despite all odds, crack a smile. he accepted the drink without second thought, took a sip, and then offered it back. â probably, â hal agreed, and thenâwith just a slight cant of his head, weighing a thought, he amended: â maybe. â really, hal didnât know enough about the jokerâs modus operandi to know when something had or hadnât been premeditated for weeks. â that isâiâm sure the breakout was planned. and iâm sure they had something planned for their grand entrance. iâm not positive whatever loisâs involvement was planned for weeks. doesnât joker tend to operate on whim? or maybe he just likes seeming like he operates on whim. â
âObsession.â Jason repeats, every muscle in his body pulled tight in an effort not to just haul off and punch him. âObsession with my murderer.â This is a waste of time, valuable time that could be spent putting every bullet he has inside of that pasty white piece of garbage instead of being treated like heâs an out of control teenager with a petty grudge. âObsession with the person who claims to have been pulling my strings since I was born, controlling every aspect of who I am.âÂ
âYou want to help? Get out of my way so I can put him down.â He gestures to the warehouse across the street. âHis goons will be waiting for instructions in that building, and Iâm going to spill as much blood as it takes to get them to give him up.âÂ
boy oh boy. these bats were real dramatic, and halâs already on edge, because clarkâs on edge, and thereâs something about the big blue boy scout losing his cool that trickles down to the rest of them like you wouldnât believe. and now heâs got a teenager(?) with an attitude to deal with. â iâm not trying to downplay what happened to you or anything, because itâs awful, and to some degree i get it. but youâre not the only one of us whoâs died, both literally between the two people in this conversation and the eight thousand of us who dress up in goddamn tights and run around trying to save the world. your monopoly on angst expired about three of my deaths ago, so maybe pause, pull your head out of your ass, and consider that whatâs going on right now is bigger than you and your personal vendetta. â
he pauses, pinches the bridge of his nose. hal canât be wasting his time catching people up to speed just because they happen to be foaming at the mouth. the watchtower comms show that rogue activity in centralâs been eerily quiet when usually the dunce caps over there like to take crises such as these as the perfect opportunity to rob a bank. do you understand what iâm saying? so you can go wail on your goons all you want if you really think thatâs something batman hasnât already tried. but iâm putting a moratorium â âmoratorium, a word he learned from loisâ damn word-of-the-day toilet paper, a fact that had once made him laugh but goddamn if today that doesnât make his rage and anxiety rippleâ â on self-centered, bratty behavior until this situation is resolved. i might not be your quote-unquote daddy, but i can bench you. take a walk. come up with a better strategy. whatever you do with him after this is over is none of my business. â itâs as close to an outright â shoot him, for all i care â as halâs willing to get, anyway.
(Â @flcshâ )
RECOGNIZED: GREEN LANTERN. AUTHORIZATION 005.
hal's beat, no questions about it, but heâs guessing heâs nowhere near as beat as barry, because if theyâre comparing decks, seemingly endless hours of frustrating, futile searching by flight trumps seemingly endless hours of frustrating, futile searching by running every time. they need a new method of attackâthe whole purpose in recouping at the watch tower to begin with. â nothing in bludhaven, â he offers, tired, by way of confirmation. â i take it the computer isnât showing anything useful or interesting yet. â

If Wally wasnât related by marriage to this asshole Jason would shoot him right now for being so damn cavalier when the Joker could be planning something devastating, planning to murder hundreds. And yeah, maybe Jasonâs not the best person to be on this mission, but to hell with objectivity, to hell with everything that isnât Jason killing the Joker once and for all. That isnât Jason finally avenging himself so that he can move on with his life.Â
âGo to hell Lantern, Iâm not the person to make jokes about him to.â Jason snaps, folds his arms across his chest. âHeâs obsessed with the Bat, whatever heâs doing is going to target him directly.â Jason clenches his jaw, works his teeth back and forth. âWayne Tower, Amusement Mile, all places he has a history with. Heâs tried manipulating me before using Crime Alley. Take your pick. Now that Iâve spoon fed you get out of my way.âÂ
â nobodyâs making jokes, â hal says, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. so he doesnât give the joker his â due respect â by referring to him by his stupid, self-proclaimed alias; thatâs because hal doesnât have any respect for some psychopathic murder clown. but he canât exactly say a very good friend of mine, the wife of another very good friend of mine, is missing, probably thanks to your fucked up clown, because thatâs privileged information, and hal would never sell clark out like that.Â
â yeah, weâve checked crime alley, and amusement mile, and wayne tower, and what feels like every other seedy corner of this city, so forgive me for not being brushed up on my joker lexicon. iâm thinking more deep vault kind of information, kid, something you in your particular version of this obsession might be able to wrack your brain to find that the batâs version couldnât. so spare me the attitude. i donât think bats would like it if i let you go running off mid-temper tantrum anyway. âÂ
Jasonâs lost track of how long heâs been out searchingâit doesnât matter when itâs the Joker, it doesnât matter that Jasonâs given up killing. The Joker has always been the exception, and heâll keep going until either heâs dead or the clown is.Â
The warehouse heâs been watching forâhowever long itâs beenâis finally starting to show some signs of activity and he wheels around, only to be presented with a body in front of him. âThe son of a bitch had better hope Iâm not the one who finds him,â He says through gritted teeth, his hands twitching towards his guns. âIâm not letting anyone else die because we let this murderer walk free, now either get out of my way or I will make you.âÂ
â youâll make me, â hal repeats, sounding, how do you say... less than impressed. he gets it; the jokerâs a bad dude, and deep down ( or maybe not so deep ), hal more or less agrees with jasonâs line of thinking, because some people canât beâwonât beârehabilitated. but hereâs the thing: the joker, it seems, escapes from prison every other thursday, and maybe gotham prisons just need to up their security. a fuckinâ thought, gcpd slash bruce, but either way, the bats can usually be counted on to have that handled. lois, on the other hand, does not regularly go missing, so for the moment, hal has bigger fish to fry.
the likelihood that thereâs a connection isnât completely lost on him, even if itâs questionable; what would the joker want with lois, anyway? still, itâs worth asking. â settle down, sparky. iâm here for some intel. â halâs already done a fly-through of areas joker could reasonably reach within the lapsed time and turned up nothing; he knows barryâs on the ground. â typical haunts, for starters. or i guess with pennywise over here we should start with the last places youâd look. â
titantroia:
DONNA takes a few photos quickly, beofre looking over at hal with a smile. âmuch better, thank you.â she takes a few more photos then bends down to get it from a different angle. âyou know â most people in our field, they hate to be my model. you might be my new top choice, hal.âÂ
â thatâs because most people in our field donât have my impeccable bone structure. i canât blame them. â this was objectively untrue. superheroes were a weirdly ( and sometimes infuriatingly ) good-looking class of people, if you didnât count guy. stillâthey didnât all look like hal jordan, thanks. â so really, i shouldâve been your top choice regardless. itâs alright, photograph away. i understand the temptation. â he winked, because he was ( mostly ) kidding, and dramatically turned toward the opposite direction.Â
flcsh:
he hadnât been in the best of moods before the meeting, and it certainly hadnât been helped during, so the look he leveled at hal was far from sated. âi know,â he said, because he did know hal hadnât meant it, and he did believe he was sorry (he knew the levels of pet names)â but neither of those acknowledgements improved his sourness. âdepends on the misfortune,â he said, attempting to sound disinterested and likely failing as his edge dampened just a bit.
depends on the misfortune. oh, if barry only knew. well, he would know, anyway, soon enough. hal sighed and hung his head, defeated, as petulant childishness was the only appropriate reaction for the situation, complete with a dramatic pause and a mumbled, â i saddled us with a dinner with sonny and cher. â
âIF you could just tilt your head slightly,â donna asks, adjusting her head showing what she wants. then she lifts the camera up, ready to take the photo.Â
â whâ â hal didnât even know he was being photographed, but hey, look at him. can he blame her? heâs been told on several occasions that he always looks like he just walked out of a perfume ad, after all. â sure, â he shrugs, tilting his head as suggested. â better? â

âDid you say something?â Gar pulls one of his earbuds out, pauses in his pursuits of shoving handfuls of dried cereal into his mouth. Milk is a fools errand, the product of an uncreative mind who doesnât like their sugar products a little on the dry side. Or someone less lazy than he is right now.Â
âAnd donât give me that millennials always be on that phone look. Or that thatâs disgusting what is he doing lookâI know what Iâm about.âÂ
â that box is going to be full of tiny green hairs now, isnât it? â hal sighs the deepest, heaviest of sighs he can possibly muster. weâre talking reaching down for little pockets of hair that havenât exited his lungs in probably about twenty years. â thank god i donât live here. iâve lived in some shit holes, but i swear to god, every time i show up here, titans tower brings an entire new meaning to the term â frat house. â â
technically speaking, hal is also a millennial, and also always on his phone, so he canât hate. but apparently that weird voyage into adulthood that happened somewhere around the time he turned thirty has really heightened his standard of living. â i donât even remember why i came here now. âÂ
