Trying to get back into writing and posting... Maybe a rewatch of Sweet Home before/during the coming ěśě holidays will help refresh me on what I wanted to write when I started this blog...
Does anyone have any random head-canons or anything they'd like to share? I'd love to talk with someone about the show because I don't know anyone irl who has seen it or loves it the way I do...

Pairing: Hyun-su x GN!Reader | Summary: Getting back up to the 14th floor may be easier said than done, but Hyun-su and Mouse are determined to get the children back up to Du-sikâs apartment safely and to figure out what might be done next.
Words: ~2.7k | Reading Time: ~ 11mins
Authorâs Note: This is the first part that will include any action, heavily inspired by the events in the show so it may seem redundant but it feels like a nice way to ease into figuring out how to write within this universe. Please feel comment/reblog to let me know your thoughts on it as well, if you happen to be here, and âthank you as wellâ if you decide to read. (This is inspired entirely by the tv show and my own ideas, no ties to the Webtoon nor is it meant to be entirely canonical.)
*Warnings: Descriptions of violence, gore, injuries, and death as well as mentions of suicidal ideation, depression, violent ideation, etc. as related to the themes of Sweet Home.

You look at Hyun-su again before leaving the apartment, pretending to adjust the wire of the earbuds youâd found in the kitchen of the kidsâ apartment, hoping the action hides how badly your hands are shaking. Somehow, it was worse leaving now than it had been when you left your own apartment to come down to where the kids were. It felt more real now, knowing that these things âwhatever they wereâ really existed and that there was no longer any way to pretend they didnât. You hoped for the same luck as before, when youâd left your apartment and stayed close to the wall, moving quietly down the dark hallway. It was almost funny how the recognition of reality in this situation shifted the way you felt. Now that you knew it was all real, and now that you were walking out into it again, the flickering lights in the hallway caused almost the same fear that the screaming repeating in your head from the night before. Everything seemed a bit darker and deserved more attention, except for âyou thought, as you tried to ignore itâ the tightening in your chest.
Hyun-su nods slightly when your eyes meet his again, a look in his eyes that you think he means to be reassuring, but only makes you wonder if heâs just afraid as you are. The way his hands shift on his weapon tells you that perhaps he is, but the way he had managed to fight a monster by himself and make it to the kidsâ apartment alone still made you feel sure enough that he knows what to do. Or, at least, how to get back to apartment 1408.
You walk slowly behind the children, Hyun-su leading to the stairwell door but he stops, his shoulder slamming against the wall suddenly as he squeezes his eyes shut.Â
âWhat-â
âGo,â He chokes out and the kids step into the stairwell, turning back to look as you step closer to Hyun-su, reaching for his shoulder before he turns, slamming his back against the wall. âGet away from me!â
You nearly trip over your own feet jumping backward at his outburst before his head falls back against the wall and blood begins to pour from his nose. Your eyes go wide as you find yourself stuck where you stand between him and the door, watching the flood of red pouring down his face. Itâs an unnatural amount of blood, making your stomach turn as you stare at him, unable to tear your eyes away until he yells again.
âGo!â You stumble backwards into the stairwell before he slams the door shut between you. Bloody nose, the list of symptoms from the alert flashes in your mind as you stare at the now closed door, outbursts of aggression, you hear him scream out behind the door, hallucinations, this bullet pointed reminder pulls your attention back to yourself and last night. You still werenât entirely sure of what had been real and what hadnât, but you were sure that he had been. Hyun-su had been right there to tell you that at least part of it had been real, at least part of it was not your own mind. And he had been there to tell you how to survive until you made it to the 14th floor, so that is exactly what you planned to do, turning just as the girl reaches for your hand, and suddenly the door comes slamming down in front of you.Â
âHyun-su!â The scream is torn from your throat before you can stop yourself, both of the children reaching to pull at his body beneath the door.Â
âGet up!â They scream before there is a booming laughter, a gigantic sound before the floor shakes, and you see the monster trying to make its way through the doorway. Itâs body is still mostly humanoid, but like a picture blown up too large on a massive screen âshoulders too wide to fit through three doors, much less the one keeping it from making its way into the stairwell with you. It reaches its hand in, swiping for your body before you fall backwards against the stairs, the breath getting knocked from your lungs as the children plead with Hyun-su, still trying to pull him free before they too are forced away by the monster reaching for them and you pull them up the stairs.
âGo, go up, Iâll-â you push them up a few more before turning to try and reach for Hyun-su again, just as the monster crashes through the doorway, and you scream as you pull at the manâs clothing.Â
âProtein--â The voice booms again before its massive hand swipes through again, knocking you backwards and ripping a scream from your throat as you hit the staircase harder this time, entire body searing with pain from the impact as the children cry out for you from behind. There was an acute burn at the base of your head, making your eyes almost roll back with the sensation as your breath catches in your throat.
âMouse!â It wasnât your name, but it pulls you from the pain all the same as your attention snaps back.
âRun!â Hyun-suâs voice suddenly breaks through the chaos again and your eyes are wide as you see him, arms wrapped around the monster's leg holding it back from being able to reach you again. âRun!â
Youâre not sure if it is finally the ability to control your own movements, or pure instinct that makes you move, but you finally scramble up the stairs as best you can. Youâre just around the corner when you hear Hyun-su scream again, urging you to hurry before the monster roars and there is a deafening crash as brick and steel are crushed under the creatureâs strength again.Â
âWe have to go on our own-âÂ
âIâm here,â you whisper as you find the children just around the corner- holding one another tightly, âIâm here.â The boy looks up at you, shaking as tears roll down his face and his sister simply nods, squeezing his hand as you start to move around to lead the way.Â
You take her other hand, moving to continue up the stairs before the door swings open and you nearly trip backwards, catching yourself on the railing and crouching down as a screech fills the stairwell. âI-- canât see!â It is a low, groaning screech as the creature steps toward the threshold, and you grip at the railing as you remember Hyun-suâs words.
âYou might meet a monster that canât see, but his hearing is really good.â He had warned before leaving the last apartment, âDonât make any noise, and donât move.â
âWhere are you?â Its voice is hardly recognizable even before the sound of thundering footsteps begin to drown it out and your eyes widen as you realize that the monster from below must be making its way up. It comes around the corner slowly, weighed down by its massive size and reaching for you before the one above screams, a tendril of stony flesh suddenly erupting from where its arm had been, shooting down the middle of the stairwell and ripping through the larger monsterâs torso. âI found you!â
The children cover their mouths to hold back their own screams, while you bite down on your lip hard enough to taste the blood. âGo, go!â You mouth to the children, waving for them to get ahead of you while the monsters seem to be distracted, and you make it around the corner behind them just before the creature is pulled forward by its arm, the larger monster below beginning to pummel the other into the wall of the stairwell.Â
âBut Mouse-- He said to go to the 14th floor!â The small boy gasps as you reach the next floor up, the three of you crashing through the door into the hallway.Â
âThis is the 15th floor though!â
You ignore the cries, keeping them in front of you until the end of the hallway, where you immediately begin to slam your fists on the closest door, âIs anyone there? Please, let us in!â The older of the two children watches you before beginning to do the same on the opposite side, her small voice rising above the constant, seemingly unending chaos echoing up from the stairwell.
You can feel your breath becoming harder to draw in, chest aching as each draw for air becomes shorter, harder to work for as you move to another door. âPlease-â you plead as you beat on the next before the children come to meet you there. âPlease is anyone there-â Your head pounds as you beat your fist against the door, chest tightening with searing pain before the stairwell doors fly open again.
The creature seems to smile as it comes into the hallway, a sound filling the air that seems to be caught somewhere in the middle between a growl and an inhuman laugh. âClose your eyes,â you say softly to the children as you shift to stand in front of them as they fall to the ground. Helpless.Â
âDonât look-â the sister repeats your sentiment, covering her brotherâs eyes and you try to ignore the burning in your chest as you look up at the monster as it makes its way down the hall. The knife in your hand seems senseless now, barely even a comfort as you tighten your grip on it.Â
âDonât touch the children.â
A quiet voice rises from the connecting hallway, and you turn as a stroller is pushed into the hall, followed by a small woman. Your mouth falls open, gasp strangled by tense muscles.
âDonât touch the children,â the woman repeats herself as she moves closer to the massive creature, her demeanor calm as she steps to the center of the hallway. âYou can do that, right?â
Its smile widens crudely as it looks down at her, black eyes glinting in the dim light. And another loud laugh escapes it before it kicks the woman, sending her body flying against the wall as you finally fall to the floor. âDonât look, donât watch-â you hug your arms around the children, hands moving to the back of their heads to push them down, keeping them together and from seeing the horror of the scene before you. âStay here, donât look-â you plead before you hear her voice again, and you slowly turn to look at the woman.Â
âDa-eun,â itâs quiet as the monster leers over her, watching as she lifts her hand to the stroller and your eyes widen. âDa-eun.â A gentle, soft sound amidst all of the destruction as she calls out.
Then, the monster crushes the stroller beneath its feet.
You canât help but turn your own head away then, hugging the children closer and hiding your own eyes as the creature lets another booming laugh, drawing out the womanâs screams. Until her voice returns again, another calm in the storm.Â
âTo be honest, I already knew,â you lift your head again slowly, eyes wide as you watch her stand before the monster once again. âI knew that my baby was gone.â You feel your chest ache as her voice goes on, and youâre not sure if it is from the panic or the overwhelming need for her to stop. The urge to tell her to run.Â
But before the words can leave your lips, the creature crashes it fist down onto her, her body crumbling under its strength and you scream, pure desperation finding home in the sound. You let go of the children, turning to move towards her then, as if there is anything to be done as you watch its fist rise and fall again, slamming into her already broken body.Â
âHyun-su!â The girl screams from behind you and you see him come closer, a blurred figure amongst two others beyond the tears building in your eyes, your chest heaving as the monster's fist crashes down again.Â
âKids, run!â Hyun-su orders loudly and they both do as asked, running past you as you stay frozen, weighed to the ground on your hands and knees as you stare at the woman and stroller. âYou need to run!â Hyun-su screams again, and it pulls your attention just enough to look at him. He is clearer as he steps even closer and you blink away the tears, reaching out to you urging you to run while you can, before another figure steps forward.
âRun!â Jae-heonâs eyes are wide as he looks at you, his voice rough as he screams the demand.
It feels as if everything shifts again when you see him, as if the world is muted by ringing in your ears and your body goes numb around the tightening roots in your chest, shifting and creaking as they wrap tighter around your lungs. It felt the same as last night, and you wonder if heâs real. Or, if you should let the roots squeeze and tighten until the ability to breathe doesnât matter anymore.
âCanât you hear? Run!â Jae-heon calls out again, his voice less even now, desperation filling the spaces between the words. You rise to your feet as well as you can, willing yourself simply to make it to him before letting your body lose out in its war against panic. If he was there, you would at least find out if he was real.
The moment you are close enough, Jae-heon pushes you behind them and the feeling of his hand, proof that he is really there, shocks your body back into reality and you gasp for air as a woman holds your shoulders to steady you. The children cling to you the moment they can, and you turn when another scream breaks out only to see the same woman again, now clawing and scratching at the creatureâs face. âStay back,â you pull the children further back as the woman who had held you surges forward with her weapon, screaming for you to take the children away.Â
Jae-heonâs eyes meet yours only for a moment before he steps away, pushing Hyun-su toward you instead, and you feel your chest ache again. âNo-â You barely manage to take a step before he turns, running toward the creature with his sword as you scream.
âJae-heon, no! No!â
âCome to room 1408!â Hyun-su yells out, turning to push you and the children away but you try to move past him.
âNo!â You scream, but his arm blocks across your waist, pushing you back toward the stairwell. âNo! No!â you fight against him while the children plead for you to stop, pulling at your jacket before you finally hear their voices.Â
âPlease! Mouse, letâs go!â It is the children, then, that get you to stop fighting against Hyun-su. It is the children that pull you into the stairwell and back down the steps to the 14th floor.Â
Youâre not entirely sure how much time passes once you get into the old manâs apartment. You sit with the children on the edge of the mattress, staring down at the blank, black screen of your phone. Du-sik speaks quietly to Hyun-su, asking questions about who you are and how you got here, what had happened. You are sure there is more, but you donât hear any of it anyways.Â
When the door creaks, your head snaps up, Du-sik already holding his weapon ready as it opens, and your shoulders fall as the woman walks in. The woman from the hallway, who you swore you had seen before crushed by the hands of the massive creature that had attacked all of you. Who, however, you also swore youâd seen get up again after that, and jump the entire height of the creature to attack and claw at its eyes. None of it felt real as you looked at her. âWho are you?â The old man asks, and you stare at her as she waves gently at the children, and then smiles sheepishly to you. She walks in slowly, the door shutting behind her, and your eyes canât pull away from the dark wood. Trying to remember howâd youâd seen her, everything from the hallway already felt like a memory too far off to remember correctly. Maybe you hadnât seen her die. Maybe you hadnât seen Jae-heon again. Maybe you hadnât seen any of it at all, and the children had led their very own monster into safety with them.
You still feel the burning in your chest, a tight searing pain like vines of fire have risen and wrapped themselves around your lungs. The roots spreading from bone to organ, spreading and tightening threatening to suffocate you from within. Youâre faintly aware of Hyun-su watching you while the children talk softly to each other, Du-sik interrogates the woman, and you watch the door. Sounds fade in and out, your hearing seeming to fade to almost nothing like your breath, for as long as it takes until the door opens again. Your body tenses as you watch, and the woman youâd seen with Jae-heon before slowly eases her way in.Â
Itâs when he follows behind her that you finally move, and you feel the roots in your chest withdraw slightly, air entering your lungs as you move forward, throwing yourself against him in a hug. It takes a moment for Jae-heon to respond, gently setting his sword against the wall before his arms come around you tightly, confirming what both of you had needed to know from the other; that you were really there.Â
The others watch silently before you pull away and look at him. There is blood smeared over the side of his face, and you inspect closely before deciding it doesnât seem to be his own. He does the same, warm brown eyes moving over every inch of your face before pulling away enough to search for any wounds on your body before heâs looking in your eyes again. âI tried to call you, last night-â
âI know.â
âYou didnât respond.â
âI know.â You say softly, not sure of what else to do.Â
âCome and sit,â Du-sik speaks up suddenly, and you turn to find the others moving to sit around the table. Jae-heon moves quickly, sitting next to the woman he had arrived with. Hyun-su is the only other person standing, and you look at him to see him nod gently before you both move to sit as well. The woman from the hallway nods gently, pushing a small cup of water closer to you as you sit between her and Jaeheon, before Du-sik clears his throat again. âWe should have some food.â

The screaming had finally stopped, nearly three hours ago, but you were still sitting with your back against the bed, hands covering your ears with your knees pulled up to your chest. It had started at the same time that you had lost your breath, your chest finally tightening in a way that made no breath feel like it was actually reaching your lungs. An anxiety so overwhelming that tears were stinging your eyes and you had stumbled into the bathroom, finally pulling the mirror cabinet open and letting boxes of stashed toothpaste clatter into the sink.Â
It had never been this bad before, you werenât even sure if your anxiety had the symptoms that equalled hallucinations, but when you heard the woman the first time, asking for help, you went to see if anyone was there. You checked the door hole, but there was nothing. It had been enough to make the struggle to breathe even more as the anxiety grew heavier. Am I hearing voices now? You slowly opened the front door, wondering if maybe you just couldnât see her, but when you pushed it open slowly, checking down the hall, there was no one. A light from another apartment was on, shining into the hall, but no one. Until there was a scream, and youâd slammed the door shut again.
You backed away from the door, opening the bottle and throwing the pills into your mouth, swallowing them down desperately before your knees had buckled and you hit the ground. Pills spilled out across the floor, bottle rolling towards the door as the voice screamed again. âOpen the door!â It was almost pleading at first and you felt your back hit the side of your bed as you gasped for breath.Â
âItâs not real,â you had whispered softly to yourself before she screamed again.
It had taken a while of repeated reassurances before Jae-heon had let you finally leave to go home like he had originally wanted. A discussion of what had been going on in your life, about the secretary at the university and articles youâd both seen in the news of people fighting in public places, finally calmed him -or at least distracted him- enough to let you go. There was no way you could call him no without him keeling over with worry, much less explaining that you thought you were hearing voices. Then you would have to explain how it got to this point and you couldnât do that. You couldnât disappoint him too.
So instead you had sat through the screams, the pleading to be let in. âIâm hungry!â
âIâm just tired,â you gasped for breath as you rocked slightly, trying to find some method of calming yourself until the medication could have time to kick in. âItâs not real, Iâm just tired.â
âOpen the door--!â It had sounded less and less human each time, shrill and loud, becoming almost deafening before the sound of beating fists against metal.Â
Tears built in your eyes as you try to convince yourself that maybe there was a chance she really was there, maybe she was at your door now and you had simply run before seeing her. Only to feel crazier when there was no sign that she was really there, when the sound made it seem like your door should have been fighting on its hinges to stay up against the force of her fists. Youâd covered your ears, holding your head and continued your chant that it wasnât real.
âIâm hungry! Open the door! I told you, open the door!âÂ
You werenât entirely sure of when it had stopped, just that it had been hours now since then. You had been too scared to move at first, that any movement would make it return, like youâd somehow betrayed your mind into thinking youâd found sleep in the silence. You thanked the medication for kicking in well enough to regrant you some of your sanity.Â
Finally, you slowly look up and toward the door before moving to clean up the mess of pills on the floor, putting them back into the bottle and shoving it into the pocket of your jacket once closed. You jump at the sound of your phone blaring, at first reminding you again of the scream because of how shrill the sound is. Slowly, you step over to where you had left it on the counter, hands shaking as you turn it over to see the national alert on the screen.
You slam it face down on the counter again and you can hear the shrill sound rising again, as if you didnât just shut it off, echoing in your head and you back away again, eyes squeezing shut.
Itâs not real. Iâm just tired. Itâs not real.
August 16th, 2020 | 14:43
There was no way to tell when or how youâd fallen asleep, or if you even had since the ache in your head argued otherwise. Maybe youâd simply stared into the darkness of your apartment the entire time, you didnât feel as if youâd rested at all. As far as you could tell, it made no difference and you were simply glad that the hallucinations had stopped.
Until you pick up your phone again, to see the screen filled with notifications of messages from Jae-heon. One after another, pleading for your answer. Then for you to stay put in your room. That there was something out there. To stay safe until he could get there.Â
And then there is another scream.
You run to your window, throwing open the curtains to look outside and nearly screaming yourself when you see the world outside. Smoke rises into the air from fires spread across the city landscape before you, and-- movement. Creatures, things unrecognizable from both distance or comprehension, wandering at the base of the apartment. âGet out of there!â you throw the curtain shut again, your head snapping toward the direction of the door from a voice screaming from an apartment down the hall.Â
Then, the screamed sob of a child, even further away. âDad!â It sounded like a young girl, then another voice rang out in unison with her âDad!âÂ
You move away from your window, listening as carefully as you can. The alert last night, the texts, thereâs something out there. Maybe even the screams had been real, you canât help but wonder as you stand in the center of your room, your muscles tense as your body and mind wage a war against one another. It wasn't an entirely foreign feeling. Fighting between what you want to do, what you feel you need to do, and what your body seems to be capable of.Â
You hear their voices again, âGo away!â You look at the door as the war wages in your chest. âHelp us!â Suddenly, one wins over the other, and you take your phone from the counter as if there is anything it may be useful for, or out of habit youâre not sure.Â
You pull your jacket closed, hands shaking as you pull on and tie your shoes, not sure of what might be waiting outside before pausing at the door. The children scream again and again, you move to the kitchen, grabbing the first thing that may suffice as a weapon to some degree before you find yourself leaving your apartment without another thought.Â
August 16th, 2020 | 15:50
Hyun-su fights to catch his breath as he glances up at the door number, 1210, knocking twice as he glances back and forth down the hallway. This sound would be enough to call the monster from the other floor down if the children didnât answer quickly. The electrocution only seemed to have a temporary effect on keeping it down, and it would only be harder to get the kids up to the 14th floor if it knew where they were from the noise. He glances again, both ways, another knock before speaking quietly between shallow, gasped breaths. âKids, Iâm here to help you.âÂ
The door is pulled open slowly, and Hyun-su can see through the crack the children are sitting together, arms around each other in the center of the floor.
âWho-â You come around the door slightly, knife held tightly in your hand as if youâre even certain youâd know what to do with it if you needed to. Your wide eyes are met with their mirror once again as he stares back at you, his mouth falling open slightly as you search his face for any signs of-- you're not sure what to look for. You had only seen the creatures below from your window and heard them in the halls. You had no idea of what they looked like, or if there was any use in searching someoneâs face for any signs. There was no blood, this was the only physical symptom listed on the alert. You arenât even sure if you have any right to be searching, how hypocritical it may be to search him for physical signs when youâd been up all night with what you thought may be your own symptoms from the list. You pull the door open further, letting him come in before shutting the door again and sighing slightly as the lock slides into place.
âWho are you?â You finally whisper as the two of you move further into the apartment, the children watching you both as you watch each other, eyes scanning for any sign of abnormality. âHow did you get here?â He looks you over carefully, brown eyes scanning over your body, and then resting on the knife in your hand. He has his own, strapped to the end of some kind of rig, a broomstick with wires wrapped around and-- it doesnât seem to matter. He moves to set it down along with the bag on his back.Â
The four of you sit in silence for a moment, letting him catch his breath as you talk quietly to the kids, pleading with them for a calm that you canât yourself exhibit. Finally, you look at him again. âHave you seen them? The- whatever they are?â Youâd been told from the kids what they had seen, but you could see from his state that heâd likely not been as lucky as you were not to run into anything on the way down to the kidsâ apartment. He gives a slight nod, but nothing more at first, his wide eyes scanning the room as he adjusts himself on the floor.
âWho are you?â The girl in front of you speaks up then, voice soft and scared.
âCha Hyun-su.â He answers as you move to try and catch your breath again, still trying to wrap your head around all of this. âWho are you?â He tries to ask you, but you are too focused on the breathing to really recognize the question for what it is.Â
âThe daycare teacher says âMouseâ.â the little boy speaks up.
Hyun-su pauses briefly at that, looking at the girl who nods in confirmation of the name.
âWhere did you come from?â Hyun-su asks and you finally turn, answering quietly with your room number. âSame floor as I did, how did you get down here?â
You gesture to the kids, as if the name theyâd given you was hanging on a sign somewhere in the air in front of them âIâm quiet.â You were aware that people in the apartment building had taken to calling you Mouse not long after you had moved in. You hadnât spoken to many people in the beginning, you hadnât been confident in speaking to many people back home, much less here with a language that had still rolled so awkwardly off your tongue when youâd first moved.Â
He stands suddenly, coming over to you, âWhen did you get here?â You lean back against the kitchen counter as he shoves his hands in the pockets of his hoodie, one earbud still in his ear as he waits for your answer.
âNot long, maybe under an hour?âÂ
âNo monsters?â The kids gasp together, the younger beginning to cry again as his sister holds him and you move toward the bathroom, nodding for Hyun-su to come with and he hesitates for a moment before following. You shut the door behind the two of you, ignoring how suffocating the space feels with another person.Â
âI didnât run into anything, no.â You say softly, looking down to the floor in the same awkward way that Hyun-su is. âAre you listening to music?â you ask, the both of you looking up at the same time. His eyebrows are drawn together, mouth open slightly as the look of confusion takes over his features. You gesture to the wire of his earbuds.Â
âNo, it- to hear if there is a monster.â
âSo this is really real-â your voice is even softer now, and he nods as if it were a question. âI thought I was crazy, I thought I heard something last night. This woman, she was screaming, and I thought-â
Silence settles between the two of you, save for the faint sound of the children talking softly to each other outside the door. âOn our floor?â Hyun-su finally speaks up and you look up at him, nodding. âShe was at my door.â he adds, and you can tell heâs providing confirmation. Letting you know you arenât crazy, that it had really happened, and it does provide some sort of relief. That maybe it hadnât just been you, that maybe it wasnât a symptom of whatever was happening to these people. Maybe you werenât a monster yourself, and that was enough comfort for the moment. At least, it was more comfort than you thought you would find today.Â
âSo we need to go back up? 14th floor?â
He simply nods again to your question. You wonder if it would be possible to get to the 15th. You wonder if Jae-heon would even still be there if you made it.
When the two of you come back, you tell the children to come closer again gently, sitting around the candles again, and you tell them what you need to do.Â
Hyun-su doesnât try to provide anything further than your explanation, nor does he have the time as the children begin to plead with him, begging for him to save their father downstairs as well and you shift in the small circle theyâd formed, sitting close as Hyun-su looks at them. âNo one could survive a fall from the 12th floor.â He says simply and your eyes dart to him, wide and almost enraged before moving to comfort the kids again, and after a moment he speaks up again.Â
âHow old are you both?â
âIâm nine years old,â the girl speaks for the both of them, âmy brother is six.â You feel your stomach turn at how small her voice is, making their ages seem even smaller as she answers his question, and you canât help but look at him as he seems to process it before the corner of his mouth tilts up ever so slightly.Â
Hyun-suâs eyes meet yours again, only for a moment before shifting to the children.
âThose are the perfect ages to fight monsters.â

*Warnings: Descriptions of violence, gore, injuries, and death as well as mentions of suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, violent ideation, etc. as related to the themes of Sweet Home.Â

The black ink seeps into the paper slowly, spreading out across the white page like the lines of a spiderweb. The spider itself, a drop of built up ink that sits in the center of the small pool when you lift the pen, shakes slightly before slowly sinking and disappearing as well. You push the tip of the pen onto the paper again, just far enough for the stretching lines of spreading ink to overlap the web made last, before Jae-heon clears his throat and pulls your attention from the dark color.
âYouâre not listening at all today.â
âI am.â
He frowns, his eyes looking over your face for a moment before he adjusts his glasses and clears his throat. âWhat were the last three terms I shared with you?â He asks, matter-of-factly.
The tick of the clock on the far wall of his living room fills the silence following the question, in a way answering him for you with its rhythmic monotonous sounds.Â
Tick... Tick... TickâŚ
You bow your head with a soft sigh, setting down your pen. âIâm sorry.â
Another moment. Tick⌠TickâŚ
âWe will cancel tonightâs session then.â Jae-heon straightens his already perfect posture as he stares back at you. âInstead, Iâd like to know whatâs wrong.â
âWhat?â The denial was already laced in your tone.
âYouâre my best student, since Iâve met you. Iâve never seen you so distracted.â
You glance at your phone and you hope that he doesnât notice. He doesnât move as he waits, and you avoid his eyes, knowing the way that they are likely softening, slowly letting his worry take over.Â
âThese exams are the only way anyone will take me seriously.â
âYouâve already been accepted. These exams are the only way youâll start taking yourself seriously.â Jae-heon corrects you simply, his voice even and detached from the softening look in his eyes. His lips press into a line for a moment before he goes on, âYouâre being too harsh on yourself,â There it was, the feeling in his eyes leaking into his words. âYou have been for the last year and a half.â
You sigh again, the sound enough to admit defeat to his analysis. There was no winning, and therefore no sense in arguing, not when you both knew he was right. You avert your eyes again, not wanting him to be able to read you for any new issues.
âHave you been going out? Eating well?â
You avoid the urge to look up then, in surprise, as your eyebrows pull together slightly. Were you too late in trying to hide?
âSleeping?â
Yes. Heâd already read you. Like a book.Â
You reach up, over your shoulder to rub it slightly, trying to ignore the dull ache radiating from the center of your shoulder blades. How long had the anxiety been sitting there? A week, maybe more? Youâd been blaming the lack of sleep on the exams, ignoring the root of the problem buried deep in your bones as well as the medication bottle sitting behind the mirror of your bathroom. Usually, or at least you told yourself this, you were good at pushing through the discomfort of your fears and the sleepless nights that accompanied.Â
He would worry too much if he knew how bad it had been lately. If he knew how little you came out of your home, instead locking yourself away in your apartment and letting the roots grow beyond your bones and through to the mattress in your room. So you tried your best to keep him from noticing.Â
âWeâre done.â Jae-heon stands suddenly, pushing up off the floor and running his hands over his shirt to smooth the fabric before looking down at you expectantly.
âWhat? No-â
âYes. Go downstairs, get something to eat, and rest. Take care of yourself, the exams can wait.â
âNo, thatâs not the problem-â
âThen what is?â
You pause, there is no more facade of not caring on his face. His eyes stare into yours, and you wonder if he can see in them what you had seen earlier.
âIf youâre not going to let me help you,â Jae-heon moves to close the book on the table, and you wonder if this means he will offer you more scripture. Heâd done it before, during times where you spoke vaguely about the things you were going through and the problems you were experiencing. It wasnât that you couldnât come to him with your problems, you knew that. He was like a brother to you and cared just as much as if he was, but this issue wasnât yours to ask his help for.Â
âTell me what this means. Iâll leave and Iâll rest but-â You scramble for your phone now, and Jae-heon is surprised by the request. That a translation could have had you so distracted. âI wrote it as quickly as I could, Iâm sure I saw it right.â You unlock your phone, swiping to find where you had typed it, and hesitating for a moment as you stare down at the word written in your notes. You already knew it, but you hoped to hear another answer.Â
âIs everything okay?â Jae-heon reaches up as if to set his hand on your shoulder before you turn the screen to his view and he stops altogether, his hand dropping to his side again as his eyes scan back and forth over the characters.
âěě´â
âIs there another meaning for this?â
âWhy?â What would make you ask me that-â His hands do go to your shoulders then, his face completely changed now. The calm demeanor he so often held is gone, his face contorted into an expression of worry, almost fear as he looks at you, his eyes searching yours again.Â
Can you see it? You wonder. Can you see it like I did?
Once a stranger, now worried and protective at the sight of a single word. It was comforting in a way, this friendship youâd built over the last year and a half. But it stirred something else in you too, it feels as if the roots inside of you shake against your bones and pull you harder against the ground beneath your feet as you stand in front of him.Â
âItâs not-â You shake your head, pulling away slightly, âItâs nothing about me, Iâm fine.â You assure him but when he reaches for you again, you step closer and meet his eyes on purpose. âIâm okay, Iâm fine.â You say softly, assuring him until he talks a slow breath. âI saw it today and I- I wanted to ask if it has another meaning.âÂ
The look on his face and the grip he has on your shoulders serve as answer enough. This reaction, and the one from the boy in the lobby, you could connect the dots yourself that the answer was no.Â
It makes your heart sink, it makes the feeling in your chest swell, roots tightening until ribs ache. You think of the stranger again, the dark hollow look -- the ink youâd been staring at during what was meant to have been a lesson.
Youâd already been so out of it when youâd walked into the lobby, a spelling mistake on a registration form had resulted in a scolding session at the university, the secretary having yelled until you ran from the office. You had barely even noticed the man standing at the main office window to realize he was stepping backwards before you had crashed into him, finally snapping out of our daze. His phone hit the floor with a loud clatter and apologies tumbled from your lips quickly, only for you to fall silent again as the security guard scoffs, âIdiot.âÂ
You and the stranger had both stared blankly at him for a moment before someone else called the guardâs attention, yelling something about a bed before you looked down again, quickly reaching for the phone on the floor. âIâm sorry I really-â
The screen lit up for only a moment before he had taken it from your hands with a small bow of his head. âItâs okay,â the boy held the phone in both hands, as if wringing out a towel. He ducks his head down again, âItâs really okay.â
When he had looked up again, and his eyes met yours, it almost made your blood run colder than the banner on his phone screen with a reminder for August 25th. The mess of dark brown hair on his head almost hid them from view entirely, but you could see in his eyes that he was tired. Like he hadnât slept in too long. Hadnât really rested in longer. A look that probably mirrored your own quite closely. But there was something else there too, eerily familiar and so dark. So dark and hollow that your chest had ached, and your mind had gotten fixed on the titled date you had seen on his phone.
Pairing: Sangwook x GN!Reader (~ish) | Summary: The end of the world seems to have a way with breaking everyone down. No one is quite sure if that applies to him, but you're thinking it might.
Words: 804 | Reading Time: ~3.5 mins
Author's Note/*Warnings: This is my first time writing for Sweet Home or Pyeon Sangwook as a character, so please forgive me if the execution is not perfect as I ease into finding my space in this universe. *Warnings: Descriptions of violence, gore, injuries, and death, etc. as related to the themes of Sweet Home.
Green Home, for the first time since the end of the world, seemed quiet. There was a sort of calm in it, realizing that there could be time to catch your breath between screams and fights and bells and monsters. The only problems then, in the closest thing to silence you'd found since all of this started, were the thoughts that were finally allowed to creep in to your head.
You'd seen it first, and most often, with the group downstairs. Any time there seemed to be a moment of rest between everything going wrong, someone would find something to lose their heads about. The shop owner was the worst of them, constantly screaming about what was his and who was worth saving.
At first, the tall stranger hadn't seemed to care what anyone thought. He'd stalk through the room, cigarette hanging from his mouth and shoulders held high, carrying on with whatever business he had deemed important to himself. And then, after you had all seen him kill Yoon-jae with his own hands, it was like something snapped in him.
"Why did you do it?" You asked quietly, breaking the silence in the stockroom as he sits behind the counter. You'd been sitting in silence for a while now, watching dust settle as it fell from cracked ceiling tiles. You'd been surprised he'd let you sit in the same room at all, much less let you open a bottle of soju as you sat in the silence. He had simply looked at you after you spoke, no change in his expression, no sign that he would engage in the conversation at all.
"Why did you try to lock yourself outside of the gate?" You clarify the question, and you almost miss the way his eyes seem to change. His expression softens slightly, and he looks ahead again. The silence is long, and you are almost convinced that maybe you'd never said anything aloud.
"It's to keep the monsters out." his voice is low and rough, as if he hadn't used it in a while. You eyes are on him again in an instant, watching the way his face falls and his eyes fix to his hands.
"The gate?" Your words are met with silence again, forcing them into being rhetorical rather than a call for response.
It felt like a blow, realizing what he meant. You had been struck into a stupor that night, after watching him as he brought the hammer down again and again, seeing his skin stained with red before the man beneath him had stopped fighting. And then, a different kind of silence when you watched him stumble to his feet and drag the man out of the building and into the rain.
He had been shaking, stumbling over each step and struggling to stay upright at all after what they'd been through. And yet, he managed to pull Su-ung and Min-ju's bodies into the lobby of the building before walking back out into the rain, and beginning to pull the gate back down with himself outside.
He thought of himself as a monster. He had tried to lock himself out where he thought he belonged, and the realization makes your skin begin to burn with the need to tell him otherwise. To prove otherwise.
"You're not a monster." You refute what he hasn't said as you stand from the small table, walking toward the counter he sits at.
He keeps his head down, shaking it slightly as he busies his hands, pulling out a cigarette from a half-crushed box. He doesn't move to light it, he simply pulls it up and lets it fall again, then repeats the motion. You fight the urge to touch him, to set your hand on his shoulder as if it would provide some sort of comfort. To hold him as if he wasn't a stranger and you weren't yourself falling apart with every day that passes in this new world.
"Sangwook." Your voice is soft, gentle as it carries a name you're not sure you should say. You weren't even meant to know it, as far as you were aware.
He looks up instantly at the sound, whether out of surprise or anger you're not sure, but the expression on his face feels like another blow to the chest as his eyes meet yours. His eyebrows are pulled together, twitching slightly as he looks up at you with wide, wet eyes, lines of skin cleaned by tears shining slightly in the dim light.
"You are not a monster." You force the words out, knowing that they need to be said louder than whatever it was that was being repeated in his head. You were sure, because you had your own screaming in your head.

genre: angst/comfort, (probably) established relationship
warnings: mentions of death, grief, and swearing. nothing else i think!
synopsis: Eunhyuk returns. You donât know how to deal with it.
authorâs note: i miss him so have this. also me when youâre coming back and itâs the end of the world and weâre starting over and i love you darling and i am done
âYouâre dead.â you say, âIâve finally made peace with that. You should not be here.â
Steady as your voice may be, youâre unsure how much of your carefully crafted detached exterior manages to hold up in the face of Lee Eunhyukâs apparent return to life. He looks as calm as usual. The way he stares at you feels somewhat unnervingâ A gaze that refuses to let go, one that pierces right through you.
You feel the walls around you crumbling before you can do anything about it. You never stood a chance. âEunhyuk.â you sigh, tone almost pleading. Please tell me youâre real. Please tell me youâre alive. Even if it makes no sense, say it, please. You hold his gaze as he takes a few short steps towards you.
âIâm sorry.â he says. Your throat feels tight and your eyes sting. âThat you grieved for something that wasnât gone.â
This is so much worse. But there isnât a good way this situation couldâve gone.
This is one year and some months of sinking into a void of growing despair, with nothing to grab onto to stop it. Itâs one year and some months that really feel like a decade of your very heart withering away. Itâs one year and some months of surviving a monster apocalypse, and somehow having the sight of the person you craved to see the most be the thing that truly breaks you. The floor feels like itâs disappearing under your feet. Youâre falling again, and it feels ten times worse and more instant. Like death. Youâre dying and heâs saying sorry for not ever truly leaving.
âNo, I,â you pause, forcing yourself to actually breathe, âI grieved over someone that was gone. You were gone. This was over a whole year without a single sign from you. An entire year of forcing myself to believe everyoneâs words. âHeâs deadâ, âHeâs gone and under the crumbled buildingâ, âYouâll never see him againâ, that was real.â
Eunhyuk doesnât say a word.
âI didnât want to believe it. I was so sure of itâ That you werenât really gone. You wouldnât leave so easily. I didnât believe it at all.â you shake your head, gaze moving aimlessly, âI eventually had to stop believing, and Iâm sorry that I did. But you canât just come back this way.â
âShould I leave?â
Heâs dead serious, the fool. Polite and conscious of the boundaries he mightâve pushed by simply making himself known to you again.
âNo. Are you kidding me?â you take a step forward, but itâs awfully hesitant. Like if you get too close youâll see his skin is translucent and he was never really there and youâd been yelling at the wall. âYou canât leave. Not again.â
What are you supposed to do with all these feelings? Itâs terrifying. He really is here.
âWhat can I do?â he asks, tone as steady as youâd hoped yours would come out. Every moment you practiced that false image of calm, your reference had subconsciously been Eunhyuk. Calm and level-headed, mature, the perfect leading figure. Youâd never see Lee Eunhyuk slip up over his own emotions. Thatâs what you strived for.
But as it turns out, itâs not easy to be like this.
So out of touch. You need to make sure.
âTake my hand.â you say, ask, âPlease.â
He looks down at your hand, then back up at you when he shortens the distance between the two of you. His hand is careful when it takes yours, slowly bringing it up between both of your chests. His skin is just as cold as it was, as cold as you remembered. Rough, contrasting how gentle his movements are. You stare at him and he stares at your hand.
âNow?â
âNow you promise not to die without me.â
Thatâs not something he can promise, you know it already. His expression tenses for a moment, like heâs in pain, but itâs gone just as fast. âI canât promise you that.â he says, looking up at you, âYou know that.â
âYouâre the worst person I know.â you say, lying through your teeth. Eunhyuk carefully reaches his free hand towards your face, pressing his palm to your jaw.
âI am, arenât I?â he says quietly, expression unchanging. âIâd usually call bullshit, but I admit I sort of believe you, all things considered.â
You scoff but itâs hard for it not to turn into a laugh. Itâs light and not the definition of happy but it feels somewhat comforting. Your heart feels painfully tight. Thereâs something inordinately scary about allowing yourself to hope again.
âYou know, once it actually clicks in my head that youâre really here, Iâm going to cry like I never have before?â
âDonât waste your energy on that.â he hums, âStill, Iâll be here through all of it, if it happens. Iâll be there. I wonât leave again. Not like last time.â
You lean down until your forehead hits his shoulder. He moves his hand to the back of your head, and the other just tightens around your own. Thereâs no need for more than that to say I love you, silently, in your own way.

Pyeon sang-wook was always a man of few words and actions. He always believed relationships to be unimportant. Especially now.
Sometimes, he didn't want friendships either. He liked being alone, at least most of the time.
There had been times when he'd thought of getting up and joining the others during "dinner" but he was afraid. Afraid of what they saw him as. A monster, a murderer.
So even if he actually wanted a friendship (or more), he didn't have anywhere to start. Well, that's not entirely true. But again, he was afraid. Of what? He wasn't sure either.
But he knew that you'd be his starting point. Though he didn't know how long he had, since he never showed any signs of accepting your silent invitation to a friendship. You'd been there for him since he joined the group, everyone was afraid of him, made remarks about his scars.
But you didn't. You never said anything bad about him, he even heard you defend him once. You'd defended him multiple times. He just happened to have heard you once.
..
"Oh my god... I can't stand seeing his face. It looks so scary... Who knows what it's from?" The lady with the dog had said.
He'd heard her, but just as he was about to get up and leave, he heard you too.
"With all due respect. You don't know what it's from. And you shouldn't judge. You're a full grown adult woman. And yet you still make assumptions based on someone's appearance." It was what you had said to her.
He left after hearing that. A small smile formed on his face, which he forced down after realising.
..
Right now it was dinner time, he had stopped eating with everyone a while ago. He didn't mind not eating, but you did. You'd always get him a plate and find him, wherever he was.
He was sitting in the grave room, staring at the ground, when you walked in. You walked over and kneeled down in front of him, handing him his food. You had learned not to try to start a conversation, he wasn't much of a talker. You noticed.
You sat by him, leaving enough space for him to be comfortable. And started to eat.
Imagine your surprise when you heard his voice. Directed towards you. "Why don't you hate me? Like everyone else. I don't need pity."
You shook your head and moved closer. "I don't pity you. I know you can handle yourself. I just cannot stand seeing people be treated in a way they don't deserve. And you don't deserve to be seen as a scary murderer. Even if you don't think that."
He raised a brow at your words, still not looking at you. "I murdered someone. With a hammer right in front of you." He pointed out the obvious.
You turned fully towards him, placing your food down and sitting crisscross. "Most people here are scared of you because they believe the man you killed was innocent."
Now interested in where this was going, he turned his upper body to face you. "And you don't?" He questioned.
"I've lived here since I was little. I remember when he moved in, when my mum sent me to bring him a cake as a welcome gift, and when I found his door open and walked inside that room..." You hoped he'd understand; you hoped he'd seen the room, and you didn't have to explain.
And based on his reaction, he did. His eyes widenedâthe most obvious showcase of emotions you've ever seen from him.
"I've never run out of a room faster in my life." You chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. But he just shook his head.
He was glad someone understood him. You stood up. Stretching. "You should eat." You pointed out before going towards the door, but before you exited, you turned back. "Oh, and if you ever need anyone to talk to, it shouldn't be too hard to find me."
..
About a week passed, and he did talk to you almost every day. Even though they were just general chats, it felt good for him to be able to talk freely to someone again.
Right now, you sat there, talking about what you did before this whole ordeal.
Well, more like him hearing you talk. But he didn't mind; he loved listening to your stories.
But your talking was cut short by a terrible screech coming from the hall, accompanied by Su Yeong's screaming.
Immediately, you stood up and rushed over, seeing Mr. Han shooting at the spider like monster that was chasing the young girl. You rushed and picked her up. "Come on!"
You shouted to Mr. Han, who followed you as fast as he could in his wheelchair.
You ran down a ramp, but Mr. Han's wheelchair got stuck, and he fell off of it. You placed Su-Yeong down and told her to go into the room where you previously were with Sang-Wook.
She wanted to help Mr. Han, but you assured her that you'd help him, and she rushed off into the room. You heard her crying to Sang-Wook. Asking for his help.
You spun around on your heel and bent down, helping Mr. Han back into his wheelchair. You ushered him inside the room as well. As soon as he entered the room, the monster quickly jumped on you, stabbing one of its legs into your torso.
You screamed out in pain, but you fought back as much as you could. But the pain was unbearable. You were about to pass out, and the last thing you saw was Cha Hyun-Soo coming to your rescue, and you heard Su-Yeong screaming, everyone else gasping, and Sang-Wook calling out to you. Then it all went black.
Once you regained consciousness, you saw Yu-ri sitting next to you, patching you up.
"Oh, you're up. How are you feeling?" She asked as she finished up her work on your wound.
"Could be better. What happened?" She patted your shoulder, told you about how Hyun-Soo had killed the monster, and assured you that everyone was safe.
You let out a sigh of relief, closing your eyes for a moment before opening them again. But you were met with a different face.
Sang-wook was sitting in Yu-ri's place, and you heard the door close. He looked genuinely worried, which made you smile and sit up. With his help, you managed to rest your back on the wall behind you.
"What were you thinking, huh? You could've died." He didn't sound angry at all. You simply placed a hand on his arm and answered.
"I could have, yes. But I would've been fine with it as long as Su-Yeong and Mr. Han didn't." He groaned at your response and sat next to you on the makeshift bed. Placing his hands on either side of you.
"You might have been okay with it. But I wouldn't." You went to speak, but he hushed you. "Listen to me. Never do something that stupid again."
You smirked and leaned closer. "And why do you care?" He scowled at you slightly. And without a verbal answer, he placed his lips on yours.
You were taken aback; you didn't expect it at all. But you weren't complaining. You've been spending a lot of time together. You would be lying if you said you hadn't developed some kind of feeling for the man.
"Is that a good enough reason for me to care?" He asked. He didn't have his usual cold and emotionless demeanour this time. He looked genuinely concerned, worried, and happy at the same time.
"It is." You said, and hugged the man.
This was an outcome you wouldn't have expected at all. Not the bad kind, though.
Hi hi! So the lack of Sang-wook (sweet home) ficts on here is insane! So I was thinking if you could write something x GN reader (if possible) maybe something where like, sang-wook finally breaks after putting up that cold facade he always has and reader just comforts him (maybe reader being the only person in between the survivors that doesn't find him weird or scary? (Maybe a confession) take your time and feel free to ignore if you don't like this! (Just answer to it so I know if you don't want to write it I understand!)
Iâll Be There | Sang-wook x GN reader
Genre: Fluff, A bit of Angst
Summary: Sang-wookâs walls finally collapse and your the only one who understands him.
Warnings: Mentions of Killing, Normal Sweet Home Stuff
Unedited ( Will be editing tomorrow)
ââââââââââââ
Sang-wook was dangerous. There was no denying his hard cold demeanor and his fearlessness to stand up for/ to anyone in the group. Everyone though he was a criminal but you knew that underneath that had to be someone that cared. Everyday you watched as he groaned and grumbled at everyone. You tried your best to make sure he was always taken care of because he was important more to you than anyone. Maybe it was a petty crush or perhaps it came from a place of understanding.
Everyone treated him as an outsider. Yet you would offer him food. He at first reacted like he didnât care just walking away every time you tried. Slowly things changed. He would answer by shaking his head no sometimes he would take one piece before walking off as he started to warm up to you.
On a rather gloomy day rain fell hard outside, everyone already seemed to be in a terrible mood. But than a monster broke into the first floor. It tore through walls and damn near killed you all, luckily Hyun-Soo was quick on his feet to light it on fire before it could reach where everyone slept.
â This is ridiculous we arenât safe! That thing got down here!â Woo-Hyun shouted out. Making practically everyone jump beside Sang-wook who stood next to you.
â Ya, I mean what if we were sleeping a-and it snuck down here and killed us all!â Gook-hee added pulling her dog closer to her. They had a point, but the way that they bitched about it didnât help any.
â Letâs all just take a breath-â You started trying to regain some form of peace youâd all just lost.
â Donât tell me to breathe!â Woo-Hyun said walking up to you. Sang-Wook stepped forward as if he were protecting you. But Do-Hyun spoke before a fight could break lose,
â The problem has been fixed weâll have everyone check over certain spots so we can-â Woo-Hyun cut him off grabbing his collar practically almost ripping Do-hyunâs white t-shirt in the process.
â Your trying to kill us first you hold food from us and now this you-â
Sang-wook lightly pushing Woo-hyun back. His face turned to pure shock.
â You dare put your hands on me! You thug!â He yelled pointing at him. â Why is he even still here heâs a danger to us all! He killed a person!â
Sang-Wook face fell for second before harding back up. He stepped back as Woo-Hyun continued.
â Heâs a murder a psychopath-â
â Stop it!â You shouted making everyone go silent.
Sang-wook shoved his hands in his pockets while walking away from the scene.
â Walk away killer!â Woo-Hyun yelled point at him.
â Would you stop!â You shouted smacking his hand down Woo-Hyun face turned in shock.
â Did you ever stop to think that maybe he did it for our own good? Maybe that man was out to kill us or take our only things we have left.â
Woo-Hyun looked at you with a slightly deflated expression. â Whatever nobody cares what you have to say! You donât even speak half the time..â He muttered before walking away his wife trailing behind.
Everyone else followed their lead going off on their own. You decide to go after Sang-wook you werenât sure what youâd find. But you saw the look in his eyes almost like someone had poked his heart.
As you turned the corner you heard the sound of breaking concrete and grunts. You saw Sang-wook standing over concrete blocks slamming them with a sledge hammer. Little piece scattering across the floor.
â Sang-wook?â You said softly.
â Go.â He muttered as he dropped the hammer on the ground his back towards you.
You start taking slow steps towards him asking, â Are you okay ?â He didnât reply instead he stayed silent you noticed his shoulders starting to shake by the time you reached his side you saw tears streaming down his face. It made your heart hurt to see him like this. You felt bad like you were seeing something you werenât meant too but you werenât going anywhere you wanted him to know that.
â Itâs okay.â He practically jumped on top of you wrapping his arms around your waist pulling you close gripping your shirt as he sobbed into your neck. His grip was tight like you would disappear if he let go. You wrapped your arms around his smoothing his hair as you whispering.
â You can cry, itâs okay.â That he did. You practically watched as his walls came down you let him crying till the sun was setting by than you both found yourself sitting on the dirt near the window in a comfortable silence.
â Thank you..â He muttered. You could help but giggle at his embarrassed tone, He gives you shocked look.
â Itâs okay.â You grinned. âIâm not judging you.â
Sang-wookâs eyes widen a bit at your statement like nobody had ever showed this type of care for him. Maybe you were the first in a while.
â You donât have to be strong in front of me.â You reassured him. You just wanted him to be okay to know that even if the whole world judged him you wouldnât.
â I donât know what to say..â His eyes trailing down to the dirt.
â Then donât say anything, Just promise me youâll let me be there for you.â
He nodded his head in acceptance of you and an acceptance of letting someone special in. You made him feel like there was more to this world than constantly having to watch your own back now he could watch what was right in-front of him.
A/N: Hope you enjoy this. I wasnât sure what kinda of ending I was gonna do. I was thinking about having Sang-wook tell the reader he didnât kill them for a dumb reason. Or this ending where Sang-wook just tries to leave it in the past and move on with the reader which is this end. Anyways Thatâs all Much appreciation â¤ď¸đ!!
I am only on episode four so please excuse me as I have not finished the third season and I will be adding to this ramble as I go... I'm really just screaming into the void, I just made this blog and I doubt anyone will see this anyways, so...
Are you kidding me with this third season, I have been obsessed with every single episode so far and I am already planning to rewatch from season one the moment I finish it so I can write a bunch of shit that no will ever read.
I am so drawn in by the dialogue this season it isn't even funny even though I have reached the point in my Korean studies where sometimes all I can do is stare at the translated subtitles like "what the hell how did they decide that would be the translation" though I find myself regularly liking both versions and it's a little confidence booster in my language learning journey. There are times where the dialogue is so heavy between characters that I get so absorbed I find myself holding my breath and gasping for air after certain conversations.
My favorite thing when watching shows by myself is talking to myself and to the characters and believe me I have been screaming at everyone this season so far. I think I am so in shock that I don't even really have any tangible thoughts to put here I guess I just wanted to make the space available to myself to ramble whenever I do finally get my thoughts together about this damned show.
I am also definitely the type to get way too emotionally attached to tv shows and characters in them (I have zero emotional regulation, I love it here) and I have found myself ugly sobbing through almost every episode already and I love it so much. I love getting overly attached to the storylines of characters on a screen I will never be shy about this side of me. And are you kidding me it is just proof of how well some of the characters were written and developed and I love them all so much in so many different ways and wow I can't wait to finish this season just to restart from the beginning and fall in love all over again and keep rambling silly little thoughts into the void of this blog.
I have come back to this already, because I decided to watch episode 5 before bed... And then couldn't stop and I finished the rest of the season all at once, very much unlike what I did up until that point. I had spread it out over a week until then. And now, it's over.
I am feeling many things, but I will pause here to simply say if you have not finished Sweet Home Season 3, and you do not want spoilers, do not read any further into this rambling post... I am about to go on a deep dive into everything I am feeling right now about this show, which will contain spoilers. So here we go...
The last half of this season left me as an absolute wreck. As I mentioned earlier in this ramble, I am one of those people who gets very emotionally attached to every aspect of the media I consume. It's what makes me so picky about the things that I do watch, read, etc. I have loved this show since the very beginning, and I will be restarting the show very soon to be able to watch it all the way through now that it is over. It is this fondness and habit of getting attached to characters that left me crying for over half of this season.
I had originally set a slow pace taking in this final season, maybe an episode a day for a while, even going so far as sometimes only watching half of an episode a day to make it last. I never wanted this show to end for me. I've been like this since the first season came out. I was immediately attached to the characters and the story that was unfolding before me, especially since I had no background knowledge of the Webtoon. (Maybe I should look into finding that somewhere to read it as well...) I wanted to make this final season last as long as possible because I never wanted the story to end. And then the last half happened, and instead I found myself sobbing, gasping for air at the end of each episode and pressing 'next episode' before I even knew what I was doing. Maybe that was the monster in me. (Awful joke, I know, but that is also an intrinsic part of who I am. Overly emotional and a lover of awful jokes. Glad you're getting to know me.)
Seeing so many characters that I have loved for three seasons now get torn away from me caused me so much heartache. I was crying so hard I got a headache, I wish whoever might read this could know how serious I am. Four hours straight of me begging the people on the screen to stay and crying into the sleeve of my hoodie. I should be embarrassed. I'm not, I'm simply in awe of how this show made me feel. I love media that makes me feel something (though I admit again that this isn't hard to do with who I am).
Seeing Seo Yi-Su seemingly revert back to the same rage-filled child that we saw throughout season 2 after what happened to Yi-Kyung felt both so real and so helpless. I wanted to scream at her to breathe, to learn from everything she had experienced and not do anything she may regret. Until that moment with Yeong-su. The moment he began to pull the chains free I started to cry, and when she stepped forward claiming she could give him what he wanted, I was pleading with a child through a screen to stop what she was doing and not take him from me. To not take him from Jin-ok. After that, for at least a little while, I found myself losing a bit of my empathy for her as a character. And then the more people she brought to her side through Monsterization all I could think of was how many were going to die because of her. However, that was simply fixed by the fact that they were not all killed. (questionable choice in my opinion for fitting the story I don't understand why they survived Nam Sang-won/Sang-wook's attack but I'm sure that was something that my sob-exhausted brain just overlooked.)
I was looking for Yeong-su every moment after that, begging Hyun-su to bring him back when they "met" in the wreckage over Yi-su's wounded body and every moment before and after. I was truly not okay about the Monsterization of Yeong-su. (And believe me, I was already bad enough off as it was when we had the baseball scene in which he gifted Yi-su the badge that Han Du-sik had made for Su-Yeong. The tears I have cried over that little boy are wild honestly).
Of course I loved the narrative seen with Seok-chan and Young-hoo every moment of their companionship made me happy and I will forever remember Seok-chan so fondly as one of my favorites from the show (Not saying much, everyone is my favorite except for Ye-Seul I couldn't stand her the whole time). I also really loved the story and character arc seen with Tak In-hwan and even the Monsterization as I felt it made a lot of sense.
However, there were a few things I wish had been a little different. Which only makes me love the story more because I think I wanted a little more of a happy ending in some ways (and loved getting sadness instead) and in some ways wanted more clarity and angst (where I instead got heroism and questions?). Personally, I would have loved for Yun Ja-Yeong to get to see Kang Seokchan as a neohuman but that was just me wanting a happier ending for her I think. I really liked the narrative of her wanting to protect him. And then I wanted to see the plan that Eun-hyeok presented to Hyun-su about how to kill Sang-won actually play through. But then suddenly Sang-wook was back again and none of that had to happen? I felt that the forced suicide was a bit confusing and I still do not understand why Sang-wook's body came back? Wasn't it just burned? But then suddenly I'm looking at my favorite character of the entire series again and he is suddenly fighting back against a parasitic half-monster and... I don't know that whole section felt a little confusing and anti-climactic to me I won't lie.
Anyways, this is where I am going to stop the rambling about this show for now, until I do a re-watch and can ramble with more clarity because I think my brain is still a bit scrambled from the nonstop crying over this season for the last four hours finishing it up and then mourning the fact that it is over.
Yes I am aware that I am overly emotional about a tv show, but I love that about myself and I would never change it for the world I love getting attached to things like this and loving them as deeply as I do.

Hii so I want to ask if you could make some father peter x female reader ( innocent of course) dating headcanons?
Or how he shows his dominance in a natural way. Like making sure that she eats, always walking with his hand on her waist etc. Maybe spice it up if you want.
hello! thank you so much for requesting this! I hope you enjoy it.
the gif I use isn't mine, divider by @newlips (deactivated)
You never expected to be with someone like Father Peter, it felt somewhat sinful. But he was also so sweet and dominant.Â
Heâd always make sure you were well-fed and warm. He wouldnât let you go a day without the finest of things. Youâd find nice chocolates and gourmet meals, alongside handpicked flowers and pretty dresses.Â
Father Peter would always like to show his dominance, especially around others. Youâd get chills whenever heâd gently place his hand on your waist, guiding you. Or when heâd pull you close, pressing you against his body so you know who you belong to.Â
Your favourite would be watching him through hazy eyes as heâd sit and play poker, a cigarette lit between his delicious lips. His eyes would find yours and youâd feel your stomach erupt with butterflies as heâd wink at you.Â
The best part was how jealous other women were of you, Father Peter would pull you onto his lap, pressing you against his hardened length to show only you could make him feel that way. It was why your relationship felt so sinful.Â
No one could ever see the marks heâd leave beneath your clothes, never marks of abuse or harm. Only ones of pleasure, it was a secret between the two of you.Â
Your second favourite thing about Father Peter was when he holds you, heâd pull you to your secret spot where there was a perfect view of the stars. Youâd watch them, cuddling into him with so much love and adoration.

hii can you write a seokchan (sweet home) fanfic where reader/oc is being harmed by other survivors in the stadium and seokchan happened to be there so he teaches them a lesson. kinda touch her or I'll kill you vibe, knowing seokchan is a gentleman and doesn't resort to violence i think it'd be hot to see him being protective of his girl
mine to protect
Pairing: Kang seokchan x reader (can be viewed as any gender)
Warnings: blood and violence, not proofread (in desperate need of a proofreader)
Genre: angst + fluff
Story under the cut
Š The lemon bot on Tumblr
It's been happening for a few weeks now, you thought you had it under control, you thought you could deal with it, but it's been getting bad lately.
You see, near the begining of the apocalypse you'd gotten with your boyfriend, kang seokchan, who just so happens to be a member of the platoon.
You'd kept it a secret for a while, no one had a clue, yet somehow another survivor in the "base" had saw you two together and word spread quickly.
People accused you of being with him so you could get extra food or things after the platoon's expeditions, or have extra protection and be a priority.
Of course it wasn't true, you genuinely love seokchan with all your heart, he was there for you and you were there for him since the start. Since the world started going to shit he's all you've had and you're all he's had.
You rested your head on the wall you were sitting against, not bothering to stop your nose from bleeding any further. You licked your lips, a strong metallic taste left on your tongue due to the red liquid that stained your face.
A few minutes ago, you were simply minding your business, making your way back to your makeshift bed after helping an elderly lady get back to hers, when a group of about 5 other survivors attacked you, screaming profanities your way and landing hit after hit on you with all the strength they had left in them.
You tried to fight back, but 5 against 1 wasn't exactly a fair fight. So you let them. 'it'll be over soon' you told yourself.
What you had failed to notice was a young kid hiding behind a corner, watching the brutal scene unfold Infront of him. What you also failed to notice was the way he scrambled to his feet, sprinting towards the room the platoon members usually gathered in, dodging people on his way and even bumping on to a few, focus on his goal. Finding your boyfriend.
Your eyes snapped open at the familiar voice booming down the hall, getting closer and closer accompanied by the sound of quick heavy steps.
You looked over, turning your head causing pain to shoot up the back of your neck. Seokchan messily halted to a stop Infront of you, kneeling down to your level, worry and concern visible on the man's features.
"What happened?!" He questioned as he helped you sit up properly and checked your injuries. You hissed in pain but kept your lips sealed. He already had alot to worry about, you didn't want him to worry about you either.
His eyes found yours and he placed a hand on the back of your head gently. "Tell me. Please." You shook your head the action barely visible as moving at all made the pain was unbearable.
He sigh at your stubbornness and shook his head. Just as he was about to speak again a quiet voice interrupted him "they were attacked sir." The same boy that had barged inside the room cutting off the Sargent's speech said.
Seokchan looked at the boy, urging him to explain further. You also averted your gaze to him, pleading for him not to say anymore, but to your dismay he did. He explained everything, from how people have been treating you to what they thought of you and what they say about you.
Seokchan's breath hitched, getting cough in his throat he simply nodded towards the kid who took that as a sign to leave.
Once his small frame disappeared out of sight he turned back to you. "How long?" You sighed and closed your eyes before speaking "a couple weeks".
You heard him groan and mumble something "come on" he helped you to your feet and slung your arm over his shoulder, supporting you as you walked back to his room where he had you sit down as he patched you up wordlessly.
You watched him as he worked, the way his brows furrowed in concentration and the way he licked his lips every few seconds.
"Are you mad at me?" You asked suddenly catching the man of guard. He didn't respond until he finished his work.
"Why would I be mad at you?" He asked placing everything back in place. "For, you know, not telling you." He shook his head and looked at your, smoothing out the plaster on your right cheek
"I'm not. I would never be mad at you honey. Maybe, I am a little sad but not mad, never mad" you breathed out in relief, a breath you were unaware you'd been holding.
"I'm sorry. I just... I didn't want you to worry, you already have so much on your plate and you risk your life every day-"
"Don't worry about that. No matter what you'll always be my top priority, like you've always been my love." He assured you.
Moving to sit by you on his bed he snakes his arms around your waist, bringing you close to him and laying back with you in his arms.
"For now, you just get some rest and when you wake up, I'll need names." You chuckled at the man's words "seokchan-"
"I'm serious." You shook your head but agreed nonetheless. You closed your eyes, quickly drifting off. From now on, you won't care what anyone thinks of you, you'll Stan up for yourself and won't depend on anyone to fight on your behalf. Not as long as you had Kang seokchan by your side.
As someone who loves Seokchanâs character, I loved this. Very sweet and to the point and I love that. Thank you so much for writing about the not-so-main-characters of this series, as many of them have my heart just as much as the âleadâ characters.
summary: When Hyun-Su's monster shows up at your door, he teases you and implies that Hyun-Su wants more with you than what you've shared before so, when Hyun-Su wakes up, you decide to act on that.
word count: 4.1k
warnings & tags: canon-typical angst, fluff, smut, explicit consent, dry-humping, thigh-riding if you squint, handjob (male receiving), they're both virgins and are both painfully awkward, this is very soft tbh
first one-shot ¡ previous one-shot
This one-shot can be read independently as there is nothing intense plot-wise that requires having read the other parts, but I do recommend reading them for context.
A/N: sooo, we've reached the first smutty installment for this series, though this feels so tame and so soft I don't even know if it deserves that name. It's what felt right to me for the development of their relationship and what I think makes sense for their characters! I hope you'll enjoy it!
Hyun-Su always knocks. It doesnât matter that youâve told him he didnât have to anymore, doesnât matter that youâve offered to give him a key. He still knocks, a soft rap against your door that youâve learned to recognize from anywhere you are in the house â itâs probably the first time ever that you are truly thankful for the terrible soundproofing in there. When Hyun-Su isnât there, you spend your time waiting to hear it again, whether consciously or not.
So when you hear something brutally hitting your door, the sound echoing through your silent house, it doesnât cross your mind that it could be him.
You stumble through the house to grab your bat, heart beating so fast itâs threatening to fall out of your chest. Whether itâs a monster or a desperate survivor trying to get in, you need to be ready to defend yourself.
Youâre slowly approaching the door when whoever â or whatever â is outside hits the door twice more.
âCâmon now, I havenât got all day.â
You still. You recognize the voice instantly, of course you do, but what you donât recognize is the tone, or even how loud it is, for that matter.
âHyun-Su?â you call out quietly.
Itâs not the smartest decision, because if itâs not him, it lets whateverâs out there know youâre here, but you canât see yourself leaving him outside.
âYou could say that,â the voice answers, and itâs still obviously Hyun-Su, and itâs still wrong, somehow.
But, after a couple seconds of further hesitation, you decide to open the door anyway. Youâve heard it before, that tone, you think, even if itâs blurry now. Plus, you cannot bear the thought of letting Hyun-Su out there, if it really is him. You tighten your hold on your bat, and carefully open the door.
The second you do, Hyun-Su walks in like he owns the place. It is so unlike him that you get ready to swing, but he spots you and grabs it from your hand easily, using his pull on it to get you closer to him, his other hand coming to your waist to stabilize you with a gentleness that contrasts with the abruptness of his movement. Once he does, he shoots you a grin that makes you knees weak, and, as his blue eyes stare straight into yours, you finally understand what is going on.
âAll that for me?â he asks, glancing at the bat.
You donât bother to answer him. You remember too well the state he was in last time you saw thisâ wellâ version of him, and your eyes run over his body, followed by your hands, checking for injuries. But while his sweater is in worst shape than usual, and you find blood that you think is fresh on there, his skin is intact under your fingers.
When you look into his eyes again, you find him staring at you, amused.
âYou can keep going,â he teases. Your face starts burning and you take a step back, embarrassed, but he follows right after you, eyes devouring you. âCome on, you know you want to. Why not just give in?â
Your back hits the wall, and he leans closer, like a cat playing with a mouse. The difference is, though your heart is hammering in your chest, you donât feel that scared. Nervous, sure, but there is no actual threat to his tone, or even to his attitude.
âIâm notâ Iâm not doing anything Hyun-Su wouldnât want,â you answer, and you somehow find it in yourself to lift your chin defiantly as you do.
Meeting this version of Hyun-Suâs eyes sends a rush of heat through you once again. Beneath the amusement, there is so much more. Fascination. Adoration, even.
He lets out a brief laugh at your words.
âPlease,â he practically purrs, âyou canât think that he doesnât want this.â You stare at him, and his grin widens. âMaybe you should ask him, then.â He leans closer to you, mouth so close to your ear you can feel his breath tickling your cheek. âAsk him what he thinks about when heâs alone at night.â Your cheeks are on fire. âAsk him what he thinks about when youâre lying in bed next to him.â Your breath catches in your throat. âAsk him what he thinks of doing to you.â
He laughs again, and Lord, you donât know how your legs havenât given up underneath you yet.
âCome back to me if he still doesnât have the guts to do anything,â he whispers in your ear. âFor now, I think weâll take a nap.â
Thatâs all the warning you get before he collapses into you and you can do nothing but slide down to the floor, holding Hyun-Suâs now unconscious body in your arms. You curse the monstrous part of him under your breath, but you know, deep down, that itâs less about that and more about the fact that heâs leaving you with your whole body practically vibrating with feelings and desires youâve been having more and more as of late.
Your relationship with Hyun-Su is good. Itâs great. It makes you happy, so much happier than you thought would ever be possible after the world ended.
But youâd be lying if you said there hasnât been aâ yearning, a longing for more. Something you havenât put precise words on, something that is almost fully new to you, because though you had fooled around with the boyfriend you briefly had at the beginning of college, the two of you had never gotten really far. You suspect itâs even more foreign to Hyun-Su.
You do know you have an effect on him, youâre not blind. You know how he can get when he loses himself in you, when he finally lets go of all the weight he carries on his shoulders. You, however, also know how embarrassed he gets when his body reacts to you in ways he canât fully control. Youâre just not sure heâs ready for taking the relationship further and, if youâre being honest, the fear of rejection has kept you from bringing up the subject.
Except that after this conversation, the monsterâs words are swirling in your mind, and you can no longer pretend that the desire that makes your pulse quicken isnât there.
Nowâs not the time for that, though. You do your best to carry Hyun-Su to the couch, something you doubt you could have done before the Apocalypse forced you to put on some muscle, cover him with a blanket, just in case, because his sweater is starting to have more holes than fabric, and sit by his side so his head rests on your lap. All thatâs left to do now, is to wait for him to wake up.
Itâs fine, though.
Youâre used to waiting for him.
Hyun-Su opens his eyes, and at first, he just feels warm and good and safe. For once in his life, nothing hurts. Your handâs in his hair, fingers brushing against his scalp pleasantly every now and then andâ
And he doesnât remember coming to your place or seeing you.
He jumps up, eyes surveying the apartment, which looks the same it always does, then you when he turns around. All he sees there is mild confusion.
âDid you have a bad dream?â you ask.
âDid you see him?â he asks in reply.
You frown for a second, before understanding passes on your face, and Hyun-Su feels the blood draining from his face.
Last time, the monster had been with you for a couple minutes, at most. This timeâŚ
He hadnât thought he would come here. Heâd been far away, when the group of humans had gotten attacked. Intervening had been the right thing to do, heâd thought â until heâd started getting shot at. The words theyâd hurled at him, heâd all heard before, during a time of his life he wished he could forget. With his attention split between the monsters still trying to get past him on one side, and the arrows and bullets coming from the other side, the monster had managed to take over.
And maybe, just maybe, he hadnât fought it as hard as he should have.
He had never thought youâd get caught in the crossfire.
âIâm sorry,â he whispers. âAre youâ Are youââ
Hurt. Angry. Disgusted.
âIâm fine,â you answer him. You donât hesitate to reach out to gently touch his face, and your smile is so sincere itâs almost blinding. âNothing happened.â
He leans into your touch, unable to stop himself, and though he still feels the need to protest, it gets easier to believe you each time you reassure him you donât despise him.
âIt didnât do anything to you?â he asks, voice low and quiet.
You shake your head, but he canât miss the way you glance away briefly, avoiding his eyes at first.
âHe didnât hurt me,â you tell him, and he can tell itâs true, butâ
âWhat did it do?â Thereâs urgency in his voice, panic even. He grabs your arms to look into your eyes, the window to the soul, they say, but he cannot read into you, no matter how much he searches.
âNothing,â you say, but again, he can tell that thereâs more to it, and he doesnât let go, until you cave in. âHe just said something.â
âWhat did he say?â Hyun-Su presses on. Fear is invading his every bone, wrapping its vines around his heart and squeezing it.
âNothing important,â you insist, but it only makes him more desperate, because if you donât want to tell him, it must be something bad, must be something deep and dark and twisted, must be something that could make you hate him. When he doesnât let up, you sigh. âHe just said to ask you something.â
Hyun-Suâs mind goes quiet.
âAsk me what?â
His mouth is dry, his lips move painfully.
âJustâ He said, I should ask you what you want toâ to do to me.â
Itâs like a bomb just went off.
Hyun-Su lets go of you. It feels as if his whole face is burning. Shame and embarrassment overtake him, and suddenly he canât look at you anymore, just wants to run out the door, but his body is refusing to move. Heâs stuck in place like a rabbit in headlights.
âIâm sorry,â he says automatically, whipping his head in the other direction, since that all he can do.
âSo, you, um, you⌠are thinking about it?â you ask, your voice piercing straight through his heart.
âIâm sorry,â he repeats.
âNo, no, Iâm, uhââ
You grab his hand, scooting closer to him on the couch, until your knees touch his. And it grounds him. Slowly, reason starts to creep back up from under all the thoughts, and he hears the eagerness in your question.
âJ-just so weâre on the same page,â you say, as he slowly turns his head to look at you once more, âyouâre thinking about⌠having sex. With me.â
Itâs precious, how you lower your voice to say âsexâ, and then frown in annoyance at yourself. Hyun-Su still wants to tear his hand from yours, run away before you can tell him how much of a freak, of a monster you think he is. But he canât.
He thinks heâd rather you rip his heart out, as long as you do it with your bare hands, than to live without your touch ever again.
Slowly, he nods. His face and ears are tingling, and heâs sure heâs bright red by now.
âI shouldnât,â he mumbles. Youâve given him so much already. So much he hadnât dared to hope for in years. He shouldnât ask for even more. He doesnât deserve more.
But your hands tighten around his. Your mouth opens, closes, your tongue comes out to wet your lips as you hesitate and fidget nervously.
âNo, you, uh, you should,â you stutter before catching yourself, closing your eyes like you donât want to see whatâs in front of you before you take a leap of faith. âI meanâ I think about it. About you.â
A light buzz starts again in his ears.
âI didnât know,â you keep mumbling. âI mean, I wasnât sure that youââ Your gaze goes from his hand to the floor, everywhere so you donât have to look at him. âThat you wanted me. So Iâmâ Itâs, uh, itâs good to know.â
âI want you,â Hyun-Su blurts out without thinking, and of course then you look at him, with wide, pretty eyes, and if he wasnât blushing before, he sure is now. His face could burst into flames any second. âI hate that I canâtââ His eyes fall on your legs, with the dress youâre wearing riding up on your thighs. ââtouch you.â If he wasnât so scared, if he was braver⌠âI justâŚâ A whisper. âI donât want to hurt you.â
âYou wouldnât,â you say patiently. âI trust you.â
âBut I donât,â he mumbles, looking down at the floor. âYouâre soâ fragile. If I lost control for a secondâŚâ
He sees you hesitate. He expects you to tell him, again, that he wouldnât lose control, maybe that the monster inside him wouldnât hurt you. Thing is, you might be right, but it doesnât matter how unlikely it is. Thatâs not a risk he can take.
âOkay,â you say instead. âOkay. But what ifâ what if I was the one touching you?â
He almost wishes you hadnât said it, with how badly he immediately wants it.
âYou donât have to do that,â he says. His throat is dry. His whole body is aching for you.
âAnd if I want to?â You tilt your head, all pretty, and oh, how can he deny you anything?
âPlease,â he whispers.
Your lips part and your breath seems to stutter, before you lean in and kiss him, and itâs like heâs finally come home. It starts off soft, slow, no different from any kiss the two of you have shared in the past weeks. Your hand comes up to cup his face, thumb stroking his cheek.
Hyun-Su melts. He parts his lips to welcome in your tongue, lets you take the lead and set the pace for the kiss without thinking about it twice.
Then he feels you move. Itâs barely there at first, your hand thatâs not on his face coming to rest on his shoulder, and all that is known territory. Even if your fingers actually touch his skin there, because of the numerous holes in his clothing, he can handle that.
His eyes snap open again, though, when you move your leg over his so you can come sit in his lap, straddling him. You notice immediately.
âIs that okay? We can stopââ
âNo, Iââ
He doesnât want you to stop. He wants more with you, so bad, and though he would never say it out loud, heâs desperate for you to show him that youâre not disgusted in him. Every time you kiss him, every time you touch him, every time you take his hand and lead him in bed with you, he comes closer to truly believing it.
But, ah, with this last conversation, even if itâs not the first time heâs had you in his lap, he feelsâ heated. He can feel himself growing hard, and heâs still embarrassed at the thought that you can feel him. Despite what he said, his hands are on your waist, holding tight. He doesnât remember if he chose to do that.
After all, his desire for you aligns with what the monster wants so closely that heâsâ scared. Heâs so scared of losing control. But youâre looking at him so lovingly, and he wants you so bad⌠Can he be selfish? Just this once?
âDonât stop,â he almost begs, and seeing how eagerly you nod in reply is like an explosion of warmth in his chest.
Your lips crash against his again, harder, with more purpose. Your fingers card through his hair, and the feeling of your light pull on them goes straight to his core, more enjoyable than he thinks it should be, though heâs in no position to linger on it, not when the next thing you do is to experimentally roll your hips on top of him.
From your perspective, itâs a clumsy movement, one youâre unsure of. From his, itâs a rush of pure pleasure when you rub against his hard cock, one that makes him openly moan, his mouth falling open enough that he breaks the kiss. The second he realizes what kind of noise came out of him, he raises his hand to cover his mouth, cheeks turning crimson.
Heâs not daring to look at you, not at first anyway, until he feels your lips brushing against his fingers, pressing soft kisses against his hand.
âStill good?â you ask.
And he is, but heâs not trusting his voice all that much for now, so he just nods. A smile dances on your lips as you kiss down his jaw.
âAlso,â you add, âIâm notâ I donât have muchâ experience, in all, uh, that. So you shouldâ you should let me know. What feels good. What doesnât.â
âThat felt good,â he admits quietly, and your smile turns into a grin against his skin.
âI could tell.â
What you donât say is how hot you found both the sound and the thought that you could affect him like that, how badly you want to press your legs together so you can alleviate the ache youâre feeling down there, how youâre worried you actually want him even more than he wants you.
Instead of saying all that â it would make you feel so naked and so vulnerable, and disarm you completely, which doesnât seem like a good idea for now â, you start trailing your kisses down his neck. Thereâs one spot there that makes him whimper, more discreetly than before, but you latch onto it all the same, tongue coming out to flick against the skin, pulling on it softly between your teeth. He writhes and whines under you, and when his cock rubs against you just right, you gasp against him.
Youâre delighted to see reddish skin when you pull away. Heâll heal, and there will be no trace of it by morning, but thereâs something satisfying about it â and the glassy look he gives you, lips swollen and parted, hair a mess on the back of the couch, with that proud mark right above his collarbone⌠is purely sinful.
Your fingers hook in his hoodie.
âCan I?â you ask.
Heâd go to the moon and back for you.
He nods.
You pull it over his head, struggle a little when it gets caught in his hair, then manage to pull him free and kiss him again with a giggle. Itâs sweet. Youâre still wearing your dress, but itâs the first time he feels your hands directly on his skin all the same, and even if his bodyâs burning up, your touch sets him ablaze.
You explore his body with hungry eyes and hands, follow the shape of his pectorals, then move down to his abs. You trace the muscles, slowly, and as you move down, closer to his crotch, he can no longer suppress a shiver. You still for a second, and he watches you with wide eyes, waiting for you to keep moving, so badly wanting you to keep going. Finally, your fingers brush against the button of his jeans. Silently, meeting his eyes, you ask for his permission. He swallows, nods again.
Heâs nervous, almost painfully so, but he notices that your fingers are shaking as you have to try three times to get it open, and it reassures him, in some ways. It reminds him that, for all the issues he has, this is new for the both of you. There are no expectations to meet, just the two of you discovering, together, what works for you.
Once the button isnât in the way, you, very carefully, move your hand under his jeans, but over his boxers. The second he feels your hand hesitantly closing over his cock, even through the fabric, he throws his head back, trying his best not to moan again and only half-succeeding.
You watch his reactions closely as you keep touching him, slipping your hand under the boxers after a few seconds. This time he does moan, a high-pitched noise that you take to mean youâre doing something right â even if you have no idea what youâre doing. How tight should your grip be? How fast should you move? Should you be saying something? Should he be saying something?
His cock is rock hard between your fingers, harder than youâd have expected; larger, too. It seems to have been that way for a while, maybe since youâve started kissing, based on how wet with precum it is. You tighten your grip around it a little, then slide your hand down, slowly, down to the base. He moans again, and you feel him twitch between your fingers.
âUm,â you mumble, âI, uh, I donât really knowâ is thatâ is there anything I shouldââ
Hyun-Suâs looks up at you, flushed and panting. One of his hands comes to your thigh, and now youâre the one shivering under his touch. You donât think he even notices though. Youâre dripping wet yourself, but for now you just want to make him feel good. If things go well, if he stays open to this sort of things, thereâll be plenty of time to deal with that⌠later. At the moment, all you want is to show him that pleasure doesnât have to lead to anything negative.
âJ-just, keep going,â he mumbles. âYou can, ah, you can go a little faster, if youâŚâ
The rest of his words gets lost in the next moan as you follow his advice, moving your hand up and down his cock, the wetness helping the movement. Despite yourself, you rock your hips against his leg, the pressure of it between your legs feeling so delicious, you canât deny it to yourself at the moment.
Under you, Hyun-Su is lost in pleasure. Your rhythm is hesitant, youâre not holding him quite as tight as heâd like, but oh, your hand is soft and gentle, and it still feels so much better than his own. The fact that youâre all pressed against him, your breath against his neck, your scent filling him, itâs all much more than what he had imagined â because, yes, in shameful moments, heâd pictured this kind of scenes, but they had never felt as good, pleasure running through his veins and flooding his body.
Any time he indulged in them, though, he came faster than usual, and now, with the real thing, he realizes too late how quickly he is approaching his climax.
âWait,â he hears himself mumble, âIâllââ
But heâs already coming, and the strength of the orgasm leaves him breathless as he humps against your hand, trying to make it last longer.
âOh,â is all you comment, and even through the haze, embarrassment spreads through him as he realizes that thereâs cum on your hand and on his stomach. At least he cannot turn any redder now.
âSorry,â Â he mumbles, âsorry, Iââ
âNo, Iâ I thought that was pretty hot, actually,â you say, giving him a smile, and thank fuck youâve taken his hand off him, because he wouldnât want to have to explain why thatâs making him twitch again. âIâll justâ you probably want to get cleaned up.â
âIâmâ Yeah, butââ He glances down at your body. He felt you rocking against him earlier, even if he wasnât exactly in the right mind to say something about it. âDonât youâ Donât you want to, uhâŚâ
âAh, Iâm fine, I justâ I just wanted to make you feel good for now.â
And just as he thought his heart rate might go back to normal at some point, there it is, spiking again.
âWe can do thatâ some other time. If youâd like to.â
There is nothing he wouldnât give to you.
âI would. I would like that.â
Your smile is a promise for more, your kiss is sweet, and for the first time in forever, Hyun-Su forgets about the monster.
Heâs in your arms, and itâs all that matters.
iâve been trying to figure out what to put here. i already feel like iâm kinda begging for comment on my posts, which i donât like doing, but i figured iâd try to explain at least once what iâve been feeling lately â plus i'm starting a new job on Monday and i don't know how much time i'll have to write after that. truth is, the lack of interactions iâve been getting on here, on these stories, has been kind of depressing to me. i know people are reading them, considering the amount of notes, and itâs hard not to question whether itâs my writing thatâs not good enough to make people want to leave a comment, or if it's just how fandom is now and in that case it just might not be for me anymore. i mean, i write for myself first, but i post because i want to share with others, i want to see their reactions, know how my writing makes them feel⌠and lately it just feels like iâm screaming in the void and nothing else. itâs been hard to stay motivated honestly. so, yeah. you donât have to leave a comment, especially if you didnât like it, i get it, iâm not trying to guilt-trip you. i just. feel the need to explain this at least once, in case it changes someoneâs mind, and if it doesn't, i'll know i tried. if you've ever commented, reblogged with tags, sent an ask, know that i'm so thankful for you and you truly keep me going.
Seeing the commentary at the end of this post makes me happy to see a link to another post, and hopeful that my own reading of this series doesnât come too late. I, too, am screaming into the void. Not as a writer, but as a reader. And as a new blog made literally an hour ago. Likely, no one will see this. But if they do, I hope they read this series and fall in love like I have. And I hope, @dyaz-stories that you will continue to write for yourself, the fandoms you love, and maybe for me to keep falling in love with every word.
warnings & tags: mostly fluff, some angst because it's sweet home, sharing a bed.
first one-shot ¡ previous one-shot
A/N: Third entrance for @neohumanmonster's fandom event! The prompt was: Peaceful Pillowtalk. For context, reader and Hyun-Su were in high school together, reader was only there for a year before going to another high school, and therefore has no knowledge of the bullying which hyun-su was a victim of. this one-shot can be read independently (there's nothing intense plot-wise that requires having read the other parts), but I do recommend reading them for context.
Hyun-Su stays over at your place quite often now. Long gone are the days when he would drop by for no more than a couple of hours and flee the scene, as though he was scared that you spending time with him would make you despise him. Now he helps you out around the house, and, when he offers, the two of you go out on âdatesâ around the city. It still makes you nervous, being out in the open, but Hyun-Su doesnât hesitate anymore to take your hand in his and guide you through the empty streets.
When youâre both in your apartment, you can almost tell yourself youâre two college students living together. Almost. If it wasnât for your blinds being always drawn to ensure no monsters could see you from outside, or your parentsâ former room being turned into a laboratory by your dad before his disappearance, the illusion would be close to perfect. You do like the thought of it. Imagining you and Hyun-Su, sharing a place in a world where the Apocalypse hadnât happened⌠It would be sweet.
That being said, despite your developing relationship, that you still havenât put words on, Hyun-Su keeps sleeping on the sofa. Youâd prepared a blanket and a pillow, âjust in caseâ, in the very beginning, and that is where he still collapses every night. Youâve been waiting, hoping he would ask for anotherâ arrangement, but he hasnât said anything, and now youâre wondering if you should.
It isnât always easy, being the one taking all the steps in the relationship. Makes you wonder if youâre pushing too much, too fast, makes you wonder how much he wants it. And yet, if he does want it but doesnât dare to ask, how stupid would it be to lose that much time, when you never know how long you have?
âUm, Hyun-Su?â you say that night, as youâre about to leave for your room. He looks up at you with these beautiful dark eyes of his. âI was just thinkingâ you know you donât have to sleep here, right?â
He blinks at you.
âDo youâ are you asking me to leave?â he asks, and you immediately want to slap yourself. A few months ago, you think heâd have been half-way to the door already. Now, he sounds cautious and a little worried, but he doesnât seem to have jumped to conclusions just yet.
âNo,â you sigh, resisting the urge to bang your head against the door frame because, yeah, it makes sense heâd interpret it like that. âNo, I just meant you could, uhââ you glance towards your room. âJust meant you have other options. Here. If youâ if you want to.â
You donât know why youâre so nervous all of sudden. You think a part of you cannot forget how beloved Hyun-Su was in high school, while you wereâ no one. If the world wasnât ending, you donât think he would have looked at you twice. So, sometimes, you wonder if he wants you the same way you want him. It doesnât help that he doesnât initiate much of your more intimate moments, and isnât much of a talker in general.
Hyun-Suâs eyes slowly move to the open door to your room, then move back to you, going wide.
âAre youââ His voice cracks. âAre you sure?â
You nod, not really trusting yourself with words right now. You donât want to sound desperate for affection, but you also donât want, even for a second, to make it sound like itâs something youâre nonchalant about.
âOkay,â Hyun-Su mumbles. âOkay.â
He gets up from the couch, walks over to the door, where youâre still standing. Youâre both quiet when you take his hand in yours and pull him towards the bed. It feels awkward, but you donât have enough experience with this sort of thing to tell if thatâs how itâs supposed to be.
For a while, you just stay laying on your back, staring at the ceiling, with Hyun-Su doing the same thing next to you. The atmosphere feels heavy, your whole body warm and tingling. This is all just so new to you. There have been lots of moments between the two of you, mostly spontaneous, just doing what felt right in the moment. This is different, probably because you asked, and youâre not sure what to do with it.
After a while, you roll over on your side, looking at Hyun-Suâs profile, until he turns his head to look at you. You press your lips together. Your mind is going into overdrive, trying to figure something to say â what do you even say in these circumstances? Youâre drawing a blank. At least until Hyun-Su raises a hand and his fingers start slowly tracing your cheekbone, then your jaw.
You feel your breath catching in your throat, and your lips part as you do your best to keep yourself perfectly still. Itâs like youâre finally being approached by a shy cat that youâre trying not to scare away.
Gently, he tucks a lock of hair behind your ear.
âArenât you afraid?â he asks, soft voice echoing in the dark.
Afraid of what? Of him? Of someone who touches you like youâre made of porcelain?
âNo,â you answer.
For a while, thereâs just the sound of the two of you breathing, and the feeling of his hand on your cheek.
âWhat if I hurt you?â he asks finally, voice weak and fragile.
âYou wouldnât.â
âYou donât know that.â
You swallow. You know he can feel it.
âYes, I do,â you whisper, and you genuinely believe it to be true.
Hyun-Suâs hand stills. You hear him breathe out, before thereâs the sound of rustling and then the feeling of his lips on yours. As usual with him, the kiss is brief and soft, a simple press of his lips against your own. What follows isnât usual, though, the way he wraps his arms around you and pulls you against his chest, so he can put his chin on top of your head. It has your heart beating erratically, even if itâs not the first time heâs that close to you.
Itâs just that that happens mostly when the two of you are kissing. The fact that heâs seeking that kind of closeness without that happening is a whole other kind of intimacy, one that almost makes you shiver.
âIs that okay too?â he checks. âYouâ said I didnât need to ask, butâŚâ
âItâs more than okay,â you answer, closing one arm around him however you can. âAnd I meant it when I said that.â
âIââ A sigh. âI donât want to impose on you. Sometimes Iâ I feel like I need you too much.â
It becomes hard to breathe all of a sudden. Hyun-Su isnât one for that kind of confession, not usually, but you desperately want to hear more. He keeps talking, and you feel his voice rumble through his chest and through you, while he plays with your hair distractedly.
âYouâre soâ independent. You look like youâre doing so well on your own, here. But it physically hurts to be away from you,â he mumbles into your hair. âBut Iâ know what I am. I never want you to think you canâtâ canât push me away because youâre scared of thatâ that part of me.â
Your eyes sting, and you hold him a little tighter against you.
âI know who you are, too, Hyun-Su. And I donât want to push you away.â
âNot now,â he admits. âBut if one dayââ
âHyun-Su,â you call softly, trying to get his attention back on you instead of this distant, nebulous future. You live in a world where you may not know tomorrow, where a simple infection could be the end, not to mention the ever looming threat of monsterization taking you over. âI want you here. With me. I promise.â
Finally, you seem to be getting through to him. He relaxes into you, and his breathing turns deeper, more even.
âThis feels nice,â he whispers after a while, and you smile against his skin.
âIt does.â
You drift into sleep not long after that, you think, and for the first time in forever, you donât wake throughout the night, startled by the smallest sound.
You just feel safe.
i hope you liked this one! i love developing reader and hyun-su's relationship through small steps, but just to let you know, we're getting closer to some smut taking place đ i hope people won't feel let down by that. i do think it would be out of character to write something super intense for them at that point so don't expect anything hardcore, but the 'porn with feelings' tag on ao3 is my shit so if you like that you might find something to enjoy in there! okay i think i'm done with this lil ramble.
Comments, whether here, in the tags or in a reblog, are greatly appreciated! interactions really motivate me and keep me writing :)
I never shut up about enjoying the way the monster is never forgotten butâ in this oneâ I just keep loving it. the actual discussion though, that it can be a reason to leave that he would never judge. Damn.

hands shaking from holding back from you || Hyun-Su x f!reader
summary: Spring is here, and Hyun-Su offers to take you out on a date, which soon leads to more between the two of you
word count: 3.5k
warnings & tags: some fluff, angst because it's sweet home, kissing, heavy make-out session, gets pretty suggestive but never explicit, monster!hyun-su makes an appearance, the pronoun 'her' is used once in reference to the reader
first one-shot ¡ previous one-shot
A/N: to give a little context, reader and Hyun-Su were in high school together, reader was only there for a year before going to another high school, and therefore has no knowledge of the bullying which hyun-su was a victim of. this one-shot can be read independently (there's nothing intense plot-wise that requires having read the other parts), but I do recommend reading them for context.
There is something strange about spring returning in a forever changed world. It had been so fitting, the apocalypse starting with winter, when everything was dead and desolate. Now, nature is starting to bloom again. The streets should be filled with noise and people, and you should be studying for your exams. Instead, youâre rationing your food, and you havenât been outside in forever â you donât need to, now that you have a knight in his torn hoodie to make sure you have everything you need.
Hyun-Su truly is the silver lining in the situation. The only good thing in the world as it is. Heâs been more confident around you lately, more at ease. Still, it surprises you when he comes by on a sunny afternoon, and offers, with this soft, cautious voice of his:
âDo you want to go out today?â
Youâre putting away some fresh fruits he picked for you, and you turn around in confusion.
âWhat do you mean, out?â
âOutsideâ is dangerous. âOutsideâ is a place you only go when youâre desperate, and you plan as efficiently as possible, to ensure you spend the least amount of time there. âOutsideâ, everything is a threat, and you can only breathe when youâre back at the house.
âOutsideâ regularly takes Hyun-Su from you.
Sure, heâs around a lot more, these days, but he still has to leave every now and then. Youâve come to understand that youâre not the only one who relies on him, but he hasnât provided an explanation, and you havenât pried. It burns a little every time he leaves, and yetâŚ
And yet, the fear that he wouldnât answer if you asked is worse. The fear that he might not come back if you didnât let it rest. The fear that if he had to choose, he wouldnât choose you.
âItâs nice out,â he answers, and you notice him retreating even as heâs still speaking. âBut you donât have to, if you donât want toââ
âNo, Iâd love to,â you cut him off before he can doubt himself further. âI justâ Wouldnât that beâ dangerous?â
âOh.â He smiles, and itâs mesmerizing. Itâs not the bright, joyful smile you were used to seeing, back in high school, but being more subdued doesnât make it any less genuine. âIâll keep you safe. I promise.â
Thereâs no cockiness in his voice, just confidence.
âThen⌠Sure. Iâd love to go out with you.â And youâre not usually the type to say that, because you donât have the guts for it, but you feel comfortable enough with Hyun-Su to lean towards him with a playful smile. âItâs a date then?â
He lets out a brief, surprised laugh, then glances down at his feet while his cheeks and ears turn red.
âSure. Itâs a date.â
Even if you were the instigator, you still feel your face burn at how soft his eyes are when he looks back at you.
He looks at you like youâre one of the seven wonders.
You see him lick his lips as his eyes fall on yours. You could always take the step to fill the distance between the two of you, but Hyun-Su rarely initiates, so you want to give him the chance to do so. When he does, itâs always so soft and so careful, like heâs afraid of breaking you. After a few seconds, he clears his throat, looks away again â and itâs alright. You wonât rush him.
âIâll go get ready,â you hum, stepping out of the room.
You miss the way Hyun-Su follows you with adoring eyes.
When you emerge back from your room, Hyun-Su is waiting for you, and you follow him, heart rate spiking when you go through the door. Being outside again, without the need to go get some specific and vital item, isâ strange. Your eyes dart around you, constantly taking in your surroundings. There are surprisingly few monsters, compared to the chaos that was early winter. In front of you, Hyun-Su walks casually, seemingly without paying much attention to what is happening around him. You trust him, you really do, but thereâs you still find it unnerving about that.
When you jump at some faraway sound, that turns out to be just birds flying away, scared by your approach, he offers you his hand, an amused smile on his lips. He might even suppress a laugh, but you canât tell for sure.
âIs that okay?â he asks you softly as he closes his fingers around yours.
He treats you like youâre made of porcelain.
âItâs much better,â you reply with a smile, even if you feel a little sheepish.
For a second, he stares into your eyes, before he looks away and lets out a deep, long exhale. You donât question him, just give his hand a squeeze, hoping it comes off as a silent reassurance.
He squeezes back, then pulls you with him as you keep going through the city.
âIs thereâ Is there nothing here anymore?â you ask. It feels like you should have seen a monster by now.
âTheyâre here,â Hyun-Su replies casually, like monsters arenât a death promise. âThey just know better than to approach.â
You swallow. You understand what he doesnât say â they know better than to approach him â but itâs not that much of a reassurance, for you. You quicken your pace to stay closer to him. It says a lot about how far heâs come that he doesnât jump when your shoulder brushes against his.
âTheyâre not all dangerous,â he says. You know he intends for it to be reassuring, but all you can do is grimace in response.
âThey might not be,â you answer â you remember a flash of wings as an unseen monster ripped the snake-like creature that was trying to enter your home â, âbut itâs not like I have a way of knowing which ones are safe and which ones arenât.â
Thereâs a long silence as Hyun-Su keeps walking.
âBut isnât that true of humans, too?â he asks you in the end. He sounds soâ sad, and yet you donât know what to tell him to make it better. Heâs not like them, you want to assure him. Youâd never conflate him with the ones that tried to murder you â but itâs not like you can forget about them altogether either. Being wrong about trusting a monster, being wounded once could sign your end.
âIt is,â you reply slowly. Itâs especially true in this new world, where humans have dropped all their inhibitions. âI guess itâs justâ Humans have been less of danger to me, you know?â A brief laugh. âBut itâs not like Iâm running after them either, right? I havenât stepped foot near the shelter.â
Your dad didnât trust the military, and youâre distrustful of authority. There might be strength in numbers, but you wouldnât feel safe being surrounded by men with machine guns while you have nothing.
Hyun-Su hums at your answer. It does seem to have brought him some comfort, and yet you feel the need not to leave it at that.
âYou know I trust you, right?â He freezes and turns to look at you. âBoth sides,â you insist. âI know youâre safe.â
His lips part as if to say something, before he closes them again and his Adamâs apple bobs up and down. Finally, he nods.
âI feel safe with you, too,â he says. The sentence catches you by surprise, almost makes you want to laugh, becauseâ who in their right mind would think youâre a threat? But Hyun-Su says it with such gravitas that you can only assume that thereâs something that you donât know about under there. Truth be told, thereâs a lot you havenât talked about with him. Heâs not talkative, not anymore at least, and itâs hard to know which questions you can ask before reaching a painful subject. And there are countless of these, for everyone, since the Apocalypse hit. âCome on,â he adds after a few seconds. âWeâre almost there.â
He pulls you towards a half-broken down outside staircase. You canât make your way up on your own, so he grabs you by the hips to help you up, and you let out a surprised yelp when strong hands pull you close to him, his chest against your back, to lift you up. Immediately, his body tenses up and he stills, which means youâre all too aware of how close he is now, of his breath on your neck and his body against yours.
âSorry,â he says. âIs that okay?â
Gosh, heâs sweet to ask, but youâre really happy he cannot see your expression right now.
âItâs fine,â you squeak, âjust caught me off guard. Donât worry about it.â
He seems to hesitate for a second, and oh, youâre so aware of his fingers on your hips, before he lifts you up as if you weighed nothing, first on his shoulder, then easily higher, so you can grab the bottom of the staircase.
âAll good?â he asks once youâre up there.
âAll good! Do you needââ
But heâs made his way up before you can finish your sentence, and you blink. Right. Some people are athletic.
âGo ahead,â he says, gesturing towards the stairs. âIâll catch you if anything goes wrong.â
It shouldnât feel reassuring, should make you think that youâre at risk, but you meant it when you said you trusted him. Knowing heâs there to watch over you⌠Itâs like having your own personal guardian angel.
There are no issues, however, and you soon arrive on the rooftop â which takes your breath away. This had to have belonged to someone with money, because there is a whole garden there. Overgrown grass, flowers, and even a few trees. Birds are chirping, and it feels⌠Well, it feels like the kind of places youâd go to laze around on a sunny afternoon with your friends, like an actual park. Being secluded and high up, it is however much safer than any park you could actually go to now. When you turn around, youâre met with an impressive view of the city. It looks peaceful from up here, just a quiet spring day.
Then you notice that Hyun-Su is staring at you, and what you see takes your breath away. Heâs smiling. Actually smiling. Wide and bright.
Youâre quick to look away, embarrassed by the emotions youâre sure are obvious on your face. Tilting your head up, you let yourself receive the sun.
Itâs been a long time since youâve been this happy.
Hyun-Su often feels that, when heâs with you, all he can do is stare. He likes watching you when youâre at home, going about your day in the house, or sitting by a window and reading. It makes him feel soâ welcome, knowing that he can just be there, with you, and that youâll never mind his presence, never ask him to leave.
Never ignore him and pretend he doesnât exist.
It makes him feel like he belongs, being around you, makes him feel at peace.
Or, at least, it did, because the emotions swirling under his skin right now are much more complex than they used to be.
He met you, or met you again, in the winter, when you were bundled up under coats and scarves and layers upon layers of clothes. Heâd be lying if he said he hadnât noticed the change in your wardrobe lately.
It makes sense, of course. Days are getting warmer. Not only is there no need for you to keep wearing pullovers and disappear into huge coats. But the way your clothes are hugging your body these days, how they accentuate your curves, how your t-shirt rides up to reveal the skin of your stomachâŚ
He canât say that it makes it more difficult to be around you, because he doesnât think that anything could do that. You make him feel like he can breathe again, like heâs finally coming up to the surface after spending ages lost in dark waters, not knowing which way was up and which way was down. Itâs just that itâ takes a lot of place in his mind.
He can already barely stop thinking about you as it is, knows that the Kid and Yi-Kyung have noticed already how his mind always seems to wander away from them. This, though, this is a whole other can of worms. Because he doesnât know how to act about it. Doesnât know how youâd feel if you knew. Doesnât know if youâd look at him with pity, if youâd tell him you never want to see him again, if it would disgust you.
Yet, no matter how much he tries to stop himself, he always comes back to staring. You tilt your head up towards the sky, close your eyes.
Youâre beautiful.
If he was another man, heâd walk up to you to wrap his arms around you, heâd whisper something in your ear, heâd kiss you.
Just as the thought crosses his mind, his leg twitches. It takes him a second to understand that itâs not just an involuntary muscle reaction. Inside him, the monster is swelling, clawing its way up towards the surface.
If you donât do something about this, I will, it whispers inside him. And letâs be honest, maybe that would be for the best, because what could you do? At least I wouldnât be afraid to touch her.
Hyun-Su tries his best to force it back down, to ignore the sting of the words, but the monster refuses to let up. Finally, he takes a step in your direction, then another. The closer he is to you, the less the monster puts up a fight â but it still refuses to go down completely.
You turn to look at him when he reaches you, tilting your head in quiet questioning.
Hyun-Su feels himself lifting his hand to touch your cheek, and itâs so spontaneous, so natural that he canât really say whoâs in control there. Your skin is soft under his, and as he leans in to kiss you, he cannot forget how fragile you are compared to him. How one wrong surge from the creature he harbors inside himself could end it all, how careful he needs to be.
And, when his lips brush against yours and you kiss him back without hesitation, heâs reminded of how you either donât know that or donât care.
There must be something in the air, because without thinking, his hand comes to your waist, then the small of your back, pulling you close to him. Again, he canât tell if itâs the monster making its own decision, or if itâs just natural and heâs just doing what he truly wants to do. Both thoughts are worrying.
But youâre not aware of all the questions going on his mind, and all you do is tilt your head up to give him better access to your mouth â and it makes his pulse rush and his mind goes haywire.
Normally, heâd know better. Right now, he feels your hands, trapped against his chest, gripping his hoodie and pulling him down towards you, just a little closer, because there isnât much space left between the two of you anyway.
He tilts you back now, still without thinking â there isnât enough space for that in his mind at this moment, not when itâs so filled with you you you â hands firmly holding you against him. His tongue pushes against your lips, and you part them almost immediately, welcoming him in your mouth. His blood is pumping, his whole body feels scorching hot, and youâre right there, running your fingers along his jaw and over his neck, leaving burning trails everywhere you touch.
His tongue intertwines with yours and he feels, more than he hears, you whimper into him.
Immediately, a sense of urgency forces him to pull back. One second, heâs pressed against yours, the next, heâs taken two steps back, and your eyes open in confusion.
âAre you okay?â he asks, searching for a way heâs hurt you, anything indicating that somethingâs wrong. But all he finds is swollen lips that you press together as you glance away from him.
âUm, yeah, everythingâs fine,â you mumble, and it takes an embarrassingly long time for him to understand what kind of noise that was.
Oh.
Oh.
Heâs immediately desperate to hear it again.
He brings you back against him to kiss you once more, and there it is, coming from the back of your throat.
Heâs not sure what happens, who initiates what, if heâs in control at all, but soon he knows that your back is against the grass, and heâs above you, kissing you just as fiercely. Your hands are wandering now â his shoulders, first, then his arms, then tracing the muscles of his chest and down to his abs. He wants to respond in kind, wants so badly to feel you, but the second he moves his hands, fear assaults him again.
âIs thatââ He breaks the kiss to look at you in worry. âIs that okay?â
He illustrates the question with the softest of touch on your skin. You let out a brief laugh â not a mocking one, though.
âYou really donât have to keep asking that,â you say, and your eyes are adoring. Then, when he stays still, you push yourself on your elbows to press a kiss to the corner of his lips. Then his jaw. Then his neck.
Hyun-Su can only stay there, frozen in bliss, as you pepper his skin with kisses. Finally, as youâre reaching his collarbone, you take his hand in yours to bring it back on your body, and then you lie back down, allowing him to take the lead now.
His hand is shaking as he slides it under your t-shirt, all of his senses overwhelmed with need. He wants you so bad, he has a hard time understanding it. Kissing you is familiar. The way your body arches against yours, pushing into his touchâ isnât. His immediate want for more, more of the sounds you make, more of your body, more of you, that is all new, too.
He feels feverish as he mirrors your previous actions, kissing down your neck and lingering in one spot when he discovers it makes you whimper. Now that youâre not muffled with his mouth, your sounds echo louder, and theyâre music to his ears, in a way that fuels the fire youâve lit inside him. His hips press down into you, and a jolt of pleasure jolts through him, which when he realizes that heâsâ
He tears himself away from you for the second time, stumbling back to end up just a couple meters away from you.
âSorry,â he mumbles, âsorry about that.â
You sit up, looking a little confused.
âAre you okay?â you ask softly.
Itâs his line, and it takes him a while to piece together what you could mean by that. Itâs not like thereâs any way for you to hurt him. If anything, you should be disgusted by him. Thereâs no way you didnât feel him, which means you know heâs hard. But youâre just looking at him in concern.
âSorry,â he repeats. âI shouldnâtâ I shouldnât haveââ
âHyun-Su,â you call gently as you scoot over towards him. âItâs all good. I didnâtâ umâ I didnât mind. But weâ we can stop here for now, if youâd rather.â
Inside him, the monster protests vaguely, but this time Hyun-Su has no issue sending it back to the abyss it came from. Heâs overwhelmed, heart beating erratically, and he doesnât know what would happen if things kept going. He wasnât in control, not really, and heâ he canât risk it. Not with you.
âSorry,â he repeats, feeling miserable.
Slowly, you put your arms around him. Thereâs nothing suggestive about it. Youâre just doing your best to bring him comfort.
âItâs okay,â you whisper. Your fingers run gently through his hair in appeasing motions. He rests his head against your shoulder.
Heâs not alone.
Youâre just there, talking to him, touching him, right against him. Youâre not doing anything to move away, not looking at him like heâs some mistake, and it feels like his heart is trying to jump out of his chest.
âThank you,â he mumbles.
Your fingers still for a moment, before you go back to your ministrations.
âFor what?â
And, God, the fact that you donât even know, that you donât even realize everything youâre doing, everything youâve done for him since that first day when you spotted him in the street and ran after himâŚ
He draws in a trembling breath.
âThank you,â he just repeats.
You donât ask any more questions, just keep gently playing with his hair.
The skyâs blue, the birds are singing, the town is quiet. Itâs just you and him, sitting in the grass, on the rooftop.
If someone were to miraculously pass by and see the two of you there, theyâd probably think that you were, indeed, on a date.
okay, I hope you're enjoying this little series! I'm not sure what I'll work on next. i know i'm eventually going to write smut for them, though it's going to be very soft because... well it has to be between them lol. someone has also said they wanted to see them tackle the world together a bit more, so I'm also thinking about writing a one-shot where they meet ha-ni and ho-sang, because i thought that ho-sang's intense dislike for hyun-su could imply they've met before. anyway, yeah, i have a couple different ideas.
i would really appreciate it if you left a comment, whether here, in the tags or in a reblog, and tell me anything you're liking in this series! interactions really motivate me and keep me writing :)
warnings & tags: so soft, fluff, angst because it's sweet home, hurt/comfort, kissing, touch-starved!hyun-su, a little suggestive but it's not too bad, hyun-su needs a hug and he gets that and more eheh
previous one-shot ¡ next part
A/N: this can be read on its own or read as a part of the little hyun-su x reader series i've got going on at the moment! no particular context needed for this one, but i wrote it in like two hours so i hope you'll enjoy it.
Hyun-Su sits at your table like heâs not sure he has the right to be there. Heâs been less cautious around you lately, less distant, now that he knows that you accept him wholeheartedly for who he is, all that he is, even the dark, ugly parts that he tried to keep from you. But sometimes, when he is in the space that is so clearly yours, he still makes himself small, as if he thinks youâd kick him out if you remembered he was there.
It doesnât matter that you invited him in and insisted he stayed. The fear that you could change your mind at any point, that the longer heâs around, the more he risks showing you a part of him you wonât like, thatâs what sticks.
When you sit down across from him, he notices your eyes landing on his bruised knuckles, sees your brow furrows. Sheepishly, he removes his hand from the table.
âDoesnât it hurt?â you ask.
You ask that a lot. Worry a lot. Selfishly, he likes that you do.
âItâs fine,â he replies, voice quiet. âIt will heal.â
The wounds wonât get infected, they wonât kill him, and theyâll go away eventually. So, sure, it stings as long as theyâre open, but heâs long stopped bothering with cleaning or treating them. Who cares about his pain anyway?
âThatâs not the point,â you say, reaching out for his hand. He doesnât resist when you take it in yours. How could he? Your fingers are soft, gentle, your skin is warm. Itâs like he melts into your touch, like his muscles turn into lead.
It also makes him greedy, makes him want to know what it would do if you touched him more, in different ways. Inside him, the monster stirs, and Hyun-Su forces it back down.
You lift his hand and blow on the wounds that mar his knuckles. The gesture is childish, and despite himself, a smile breaks on his face.
âThatâs not going to change much.â
He notices belatedly how fond his voice sounds. Heâs usually so careful not to let it be so obvious, but you just surprised it out of him. If you notice, you donât let it show. Instead, you roll your eyes at him â until you get another idea.
He looks at you in bemused interest as you lower your face towards his hand. And then he realizes what youâre doing, and his heart skips a beat.
You glance up at him, a silent request for his approval, before you go any further. He doesnât know how to give it to you, doesnât know if he should, if itâs safe.
He also doesnât take his hand away.
Your lips press gently against his knuckles, and it sends a jolt through him that ignites his whole body. He canât see himself, but heâs sure heâs blushing. When you meet his eyes again, he averts his immediately, swallows, clears his throat. But then he feels you open your fingers, letting his hand slip from your grasp, and he tightens his hold on you at the last second. He cannot bear the thought of losing your touch, not just yet.
âThatââ His voice cracks. âThat does help.â
âOh,â you say, and then your thumb runs over his hand in a soft caress. He exhales, long and slow. Heâd do anything for you not to let go of him.
When you stand up, his head shoots up, eyes following you like a puppy â only for you to get closer to him. You roll your lips together, still searching his expression for approval. You trace a wound on his shoulder, one he doesnât even remember getting, if heâs being honest.
âWould it help here?â you ask.
Hyun-Suâs whole body is buzzing with the absolute, desperate need to be touched again.
All he can do is nod.
You lean in, kiss his shoulder, and he closes his eyes. He wants to drown in you. He wants you to run your hands over his body, he wants to touch you so bad, and he hates himself for remaining so still. But then you touch his cheek, trace his jaw, and heâs so infinitely thankful that you do what he canât.
Youâre the one whoâs not meeting his eyes this time, as your index finger brushes against his bottom lip. Thereâs no wound there, theyâre just chapped, and yetâŚ
âHow about here?â
Heâs almost shaking in anticipation by now. He thinks heâd kill to be kissed by you â he knows the monster would. But again, he just nods.
So, standing in front of him, between his legs, you cup his cheek in the gentlest of ways, like heâs precious, and you kiss him again. Itâs soft, gentle, just lips against lips. Â You make a delicate sound when you part from him, and he regrets the loss of it immediately. It must be why he blurts out, before you can move any further âIt still hurts.â
Your eyes go wide for a second, before a smile stretches your lips. He only gets a second to ask himself if he asked for too much, if youâre going to be disgusted with him for daring to ask, ifâ
You kiss him again, a little harder this time, nose pressing against his cheek. Your hands move to the back of his neck to support yourself better. Hyun-Su feels you part your lips, feels your tongue against his mouth, and that is when he loses it.
Heâs happy that you have your eyes closed because, even though he feels fully in control of himself at the moment, heâs not sure which color youâd see in his just now.
He pulls you into his lap, hands on your hips at first before he moves one of them, just a little, to the small of your back. Youâre all over him now, body against his, scent overwhelming, your taste on his tongue. The apartment would be quiet, if it wasnât for the sound of your mouths together, and for the rush of his blood in his ears.
You gasp quietly into him, your teeth catch against his bottom lip and it makes him shiver. He dares then, caught in the euphoria of it all perhaps, to reach up to touch your face, long fingers stroking your cheek. His skin is on fire everywhere you touch it, but he wouldnât give it up for the world, and he finds itself praying it never ends.
Yet it does, fairly abruptly, when he realizes, suddenly, that heâs falling. On instinct, he wraps his arms around you to protect you, and then the two of you hit the floor. The chair had to have tipped backwards at some point, without the two of you noticing.
Thereâs a moment of stunned silence afterwards, before you let out a quiet laugh, hiding your face in his shoulder.
Much to his surprise, he hears himself laugh as well. It just feels easy to do, when youâre in his arms. His heart is still pounding, his lips are tingling, and his breathing is shallow, but heâs feeling emotions he hasnât felt in years.
Heâs happy.
Deep inside of him, the monster takes a step back, satiated.
For now, anyway.
i've really loved writing this and i'm quite happy with the end result, especially for something i wrote so quickly, so i hope you liked it too! please let me know your thoughts either on here, in tags, in an ask or reblog the fic, it means the world to me and it lets me know you want to see more, so it keeps me motivated!
My favorite thing is never forgetting that the monster does exist inside him something about that detail in this makes me even happier than whatâs actually happening (however Iâm happy about that too)
