Great Castles

Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers is an abandoned castle in France. Its oldest parts were constructed in the early 13th century by its owners, the Bauçay family.

Ksiaz Castle is an impressive fortress rising up on a cliff embankment and surrounded by lush forests and immaculate gardens in south-western Poland. It was built at the end of the 13th century by Bolko I the Strict.

The history of the castle dates back to mid 14th century, when work was begun by the Grand Duke Kęstutis, and was concluded in the early 15th century by his son Vytautas.

Inveraray Castle is the seat of the Clan Campbell and the home of the Dukes of Argyll since the Dukedom was given in the 1700s. Located on the edge of Loch Fyne the castle is the jewel in Argyll's crown. It is one of the earliest examples of Gothic Revival architecture.

Burg Kreuzenstein is located on a wooded hilltop overlooking the village of Leobendorf, a few kilometers north of Vienna. The castle’s majestic position, has made it a powerful strategic defense system throughout the centuries and especially during the Middle Ages.

Rivieren Castle was originally a defence tower and the present-day castle was build in different phases from the 12th to the 19th century.

English architect Edward Milner was commissioned in 1866 by the Liedekerke-Beaufort family to build Chateau Miranda, more recently known as Chateau de Noisy. Chateau Miranda looks like something out of a Disney film.

The history of the château of La Barben dates back to 1064, when it was home to the Abbey of Saint Victor de Marseille.

One of the most charmingly situated monuments, located in Southern Bohemia. It is located on a rock, which was turned into a small island by damming up the valley and raising the level of the surrounding pond. It has been to its present form rebuilt during the romantic Neo-Gothic reconstruction in the 40th-60th of the 19th century and also during construction work in the Renaissance style in the early 20th century.

Ballindalloch Castle has been called 'The Pearl of the North', situated on the banks of the River Avon, in Scotland.

Karlštejn castle was founded in 1348 by the Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV as a place for safekeeping of royal treasures, especially Charles' collection of holy relics and the coronation jewels of the Roman Empire.
