This warrior has defeated the best you have to offer. Is that not what this Proving is for?
âMen and women from every race, warriors and mages, barbarians and kings⌠the Grey Wardens sacrificed everything to stem the tide of darknessâŚand prevailed.â

Fiona: would you like to hold him?
Duncan, taking one look at the round baby in his arms: my son now
So figured Duncan would wear Grey Warden Armour now that the uniform has been established in DA2. So whatâya think?

Gerlinde didnât want to say she was suspicious of this newcomer, after all, newcomers came in all the time. Little boys and little girls who didnât know they were going to be here forever and ever, or new Templars who gave her nasty looks, they knew who she was, they heard of her, the strange one with the curly hair who bit a Templar on her first day. She hated them. They were bad men.
But this wasnât a little boy, or a little girl, or a Templar. This was an entirely new person, one that had come regularly as of late. He took Wynne away, she was a nice lady, nice to her like Irving was. Irving had told her that he was a Grey Warden, and he was here to recruit mages to fight the darkspawn. Which meant they got to leave the Tower.Â
Gerlinde had been stalking behind the old man since he once again entered the home of the Magi, she was very good at being as quiet as a chantrymouse. She sometimes scared other people when they didnât realised she had entered the room. She was watching him, he was watching everyone else, not knowing whether or not Irving had even mentioned the dishevelled, newly promoted mage, and her apparent gift for spirit magic.
All she knew is that Duncan was an outsider, and he knew things she did not.

Duncan had just finished his meeting with Irving and was heading back to the quarters heâd so graciously been given when he felt a presence behind him. It wasnât uncommon for to be followed while within the mageâs tower--he might not be a mage himself, but the fact that he was a Grey Warden set many of the Templars on edge. His opinions on mages themselves didnât really help matters. In his eyes, everyone, mages included, should be concerned with the war in the south against the darkspawn. This was not a time to hold back simply because someoneâs power was deemed excessive. If anything, now was the time to let loose.
But this presence behind him was a touch different than the cold gaze of the Templars. For one, the Templars felt no need to hide the fact that they were watching him. Whoever was watching Duncan now, they were doing their best to stay out of plain sight and instead observe him from a distance. Not a bad tactic overall, though a little unnecessary when the tower was only but so big.
Pausing in the middle of the hallway, he turned back around, peering back the way he came curiously. âIf you want to speak to me, you might as well come forward. I might not be the most interesting person to talk to, but if youâve questions, Iâll answer them.â

⪠ DISCUSSED STARTER !  |  ⪠@grcywardcn !
THOUGH SHE WAS TIRED, rest had become a foreign notion. Tears had so often fought to come to her eyes, tears Mya has fiercely denied, yet it was useless. As the rush of the bloody night began to fade, those tears she had fought would return to her. Too clear and fresh was the memory of her home, her parents and her brother, now all lost. Her Bear, her ever so loyal hound, had been close to her. To say men were dogs was truly disrespectful to dogs, Mya had concluded. At least dogs were sincere and loyal, clear in their intentions.Â
The fire, the blood, the screams, her parents, all was too fresh in her memory. Her father decreeing she should have lived and made her mark upon the world. Her mother standing to fight for one last time so that she would escape. Mya felt alone. Mya felt guilty. Not only once had the woman considered turning on her heels and running back to Highever. None of this was fair. But, one day, justice would be claimed. One day. âAre all the stories about Grey Wardens true?â Mya eventually asked in an attempt to avoid the crushing sorrow that grew within her heart as a hungry beast.Â
The death of the Couslands was a terrible blow, not just to the war effort, but to the nation at large. Or at least, if the truth were to get out about it, it would be. It all depended on the sole survivor of the night, the young woman now travelling at his side. Sheâd barely gotten out alive and now she was forced to march south, perhaps to a completely different death. Her familyâs death weighed on him, even as Duncan tried not to let it show.
It had been a few days since heâd heard her speak, and when she finally did, the question seemed too normal for everything that had just happened. There was striving for normalcy after a calamity, but then there was just full on denial. It seemed the young Cousland had settled for denial. âSome of them, yes. It all depends on what youâve heard. The orderâs presence in Ferelden has been diminished over the years, so I imagine whatever stories you mightâve heard, would either be from long ago, or from other areas like Orlais.â

Just a couple characters I NEVER DRAW⌠Solas (concept art vs.) and Duncan. Some Dragon Age doodles before beddddd
Duncan
âBut I need to practice to get better.â âCertainly. Just donât get caught.â
You know what I love? That Duncan undoubtedly looks at a warden caught pick-pocketing and is like, âaw fuck. The Maker has a good sense of humour.â Because here he is, now mentoring a new recruit who is doing all the same shit he did when he was conscripted. And he definitely knows heâs supposed to scold them, but he gets it. And now here the warden is, expecting this upstanding heroic knight of legend to do his worse, and instead heâs every bit the same dashing rogue ready to eat the rich he is as a kid in The Calling, but with wisdom and maturity.
Finally finished Duncan from dragon age. He also has the grey warden pendant from my head cannon idea. â¤ď¸ I love how it turned out.
Duncan is so cute!
