I can’t seem to comprehend the popularity of little sparkling ponies when there are far more enjoyable cartoons involving monsters. Gravedale High, or more formally known as “Rick Moranis in Gravedale High” is one of them. Rick Moranis is an actor from different things, but most well known from his “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” roles.

The show revolves around the misadventures of human teacher Max Schneider who has unwittingly taken a job at Gravedale High, a school for monsters, near the city of Midtown. Schneider, the only human in the school, presides over a group of ghoulish teenagers that are latest-generation versions of classic movie monsters (many of which had appeared in movies from Universal, coincidentally enough).

Most are either disruptive, disinterested, and/or unduly self-preoccupied in school, and the class is generally considered disreputable if not uncontrollable (not unlike “the Sweathogs” in Welcome Back, Kotter), the implication being Schneider was hired to teach the class because no monster teacher would take the job.

His class is a bunch of ragtag monsters that includes a Greaser vampire, a nerdy werewolf, an invisible class clown, a posh gorgon gal, a Surfer dude Black Lagoon monster, midget Frankenstein monster, Southern Belle zombie, fat mummy(how the fuck does that even happen?), and an avaricious Igor. All of the characters are very unique in not only their appearances but their contrasting attitudes.
