POP OFF

It was nice to have friend near by , made the moment just a little  less painful . He doesn’t respond right away , it’s as if he had lost his voice in the moment . Self doubt washed over him , “no way , Mineta maybe had done better than me . Act with less hesitation … “ Such thoughts didn’t matter as nothing can change what had happened out there but it’s hard for him to push past it as if nothing happened . 

His fingers laced together as the other spoke , their grip tighten as he took sharp breaths . He felt as if he didn’t deserve the praise , none of any kind , but his friend was right . It’s hard it’s bitter to deal with but he did what he thought was the best course of action , even though it wasn’t enough . Bi - coloured hues rose to the grape , ❝ Thank you,  ❞ he repeats softly ,  ❝ But I just ——- ❞ he can’t drop it , he knows he should , learn from your mistakes and move on but he couldn’t help but dwell on it right now .  ❝ wish there was more I could do . I was so close  .❞ 

“Hey, close is better than nothing!”

Mineta’s brow furrowed and his mouth formed a frown. He hated seeing a friend like this, especially the cute ones. Pausing for a moment, he finally let his hand touch the other’s, lacing their fingers together and giving it a squeeze. He looked up at Todoroki, hoping he wasn’t crossing any major boundaries by doing this. Taking a deep breath, he began to speak. “If all you do is worry about how things could have gone, you won’t have time to see what’s happening now.”

❝    Yes, I do. I go to a school nearby, actually.    ❞             He   feels   there’s   no   real   need   to   share   any   further   details,   unless   the   other   boy   asked.   Being   dishonest   after   such   a   sweet   gesture   would   be   rude. ❝    But your studies sound much more exciting. U.A. is a school for only the most exceptional and promising heroes, your quirk must be very powerful.    ❞             To   hear   this   student   was   from   U.A.   was   quite   a   surprise,   but   if   they   did   go   there,   then   surely   their   quirk   must   be   unique.   An   impressive   feat   for   someone   of   Mineta’s   stature,   he   would   think   ;   being   a   hero   that   size   likely   garners   immature   teasing,   and   it   would   be   safe   to   assume   that   alone   would   get   them   down,   but   they   seem   so   confident   !      It’s   refreshing   to   be   around.

“Oh neat!” Mineta was about to ask about the other’s school, when the opportunity to make himself sound cooler was presented. “Oh yeah its VERY exciting. We save the world all the time, fight murderous villains, that sort of thing.” He smiled, his pearly white teeth shined in the sunlight.

❝    Oh ?  How very perceptive. Yes, it became my alias when I grew up in Italy, I moved here only a few years ago.    ❞             Attention   perks   at   the   boast   shorter   boy   makes   ━   a   pro   hero   ?      That   must   mean   he’s   one   of   those   U.A.   students.   Another   spoonful,   and   he   goes   on   to   voice   his   assumption. ❝    You must be from U.A, then, right ?  The hero school ?    ❞             Perhaps   he   shouldn’t   bring   up   being   a   stand   user,   then…   It   would   be   a   shame,   to   lose   a   new   friendly   face   over   the   discrimination   against   mutated   users.

Mineta would smirk. A grape-flavored smirk. “Oh I’m quite perceptive. Its one of my better features. That and my illustrious personality~!” He wink-wonked, putting on the best charm he could muster. “Why yes, I’m actually in Class-A, so Its pretty much the best.”

Mineta watched as the other placed the sweet into his mouth. Perhaps focusing on his lips for a tad too long. “Giorno~? My, that sounds European! Perhaps Italian?” He smiled warmly, taking his own drink and sitting down. 

“THAT’S THE SPIRIT SENPAI!  Let’s workout until we can’t move our bodies anymore!”
