In 1965 the top performance models from Pontiac, the 2+2 and the GTO, had pinstriping. A frame mounted to the car by suction cups provided a guide line for the painter as he made one continuous stroke the length of the car. A double stripe was applied to the 2+2 while the GTO had a single line.

Pontiac XP 765, a design proposal considered as the Grand Prix for the '65 Pontiac lineup. This completed interior-exterior fiberglass model was shown to Pontiac management in April 1963.
