I never wanted to get into tiktok because I knew that it would consume my attention span and utterly destroy me the second I allowed it a finger-hold into my life, but then I was like “well but I do like short videos, I feel like with the amount of youtube shorts I watch, I’m basically already on tiktok,” so I downloaded tiktok proper, instantly spent literally seven hours straight trapped in its vortex, stayed up too late, stayed up a bit later, passed out with a headache, and then woke up and kept watching tiktok to the point I was late for work. When I reported this to Cyrus, they watched me until I deleted it my phone. Cyrus was like “it’s kinda impressive that you always said this is what would happen if you were on TikTok and then it happened exactly as you said it would,” and I was like “yeah I’m the queen of knowing myself.” And in that vein: hey future Sarah. Don’t download it again. You’re already thinking about it. What do you think will be different. I know the answer that just popped into your head, and I wanna say, hey bitch, more willpower WHERE

I also immediately started bargaining with Cyrus the second they were like “delete it.” I was like “maybe I can just make tiktoks but not watch any? FINE I’ll delete it.” it is nice to know my first instinct was if I can’t have other people’s content, I can just diy myself. It’s an instinct I basically never have with anything else except short stories with wasted premises and most deceivingly simple knitting projects.
