Brow furrowing, Warren looked down at her and wondered if she’d just escaped from a tower somewhere, or if she used the naïve mask as a tool to draw in the unwary. In a place like Raven’s Peak, he figured it could be either. Hunter instincts warned him to caution while another side of him felt tempted to bundle her right back into whatever protected world she came from.
And he had to fight to ignore the slice of him that scratched to take advantage of her current state.
“Yeah, they’ve got food,” he acknowledged, nodding towards the menu at one end of the bar. His lips twitched, reluctantly amused, when she sat back down on the seat she’d tried to fall off of seconds before. “Southern comfort food.”
With squinted eyes, Grace could make out corn fritters from the other end of the bar with a smile, and once she flagged down the bartender ordered them. "I'm also covering whatever my new friend here wants- if he wants anything."
Once the bartender walked away, Grace turned. "You're more than welcome to sit if you'd like? I don't bite. Unless you don't like the smell of paint and new ikea furniture- then I may not be your cup of tea."
Maia didn't have to work that day but she found herself at the bar anyways. She didn't have much other things to do, Cricket was back at work and Maia didn't want to bother her friends so why not just bother her friends at her work? Though surprisingly it was fairly busy and Maia didn't want to make much of a scene so she hung back once she got her drink.
She watched as someone faltered slightly and she was quick to offer support if needed. "Oh yeah they definitely do. I never let them pour my shit unless it's my night off. You okay though?"
With a smile, the witch nodded. "I'm sorry- I am. I probably should've ate something today but with all the movers and furniture building it was just not something I thought of today." Grace smiled, settling back on the seat. "I'm Grace. I just moved in not too long ago and became something of a hobbit focused on the house."
Many rounds of darts and beers later, his friend group had started to disperse. Nathan said goodbye to the last of them, drank the last of his beer, and turned to exit. There was no way he was staying here and putting up with the music all by himself. It was still too early to call it a night, so he scrolled through his texts on his phone to see who was available. Oh, maybe Ria? What were the kids up to, he wondered? Nathan tapped on her name as he passed by the bar, startling as the woman nearly fell when she got up from her seat.
“Woah!” He reached out as if to catch her, aborting the motion when she steadied herself on her own. Nathan chuckled and couldn’t help the smile that appeared on his face. Who was she? “That they do! But no thanks, I was just heading out.” His arms still hadn’t dropped back to his sides, Nathan still unsure if she’d be steady on her feet once she got moving. “Are you going to be okay?”
Grace only chuckled, nodding. "I'm hoping it's a combination of stood up to quickly, and didn't eat enough today." With a smile, she took another step forward that proved that she could do just that- walk around. "See? Good. Not a light weight just caught off guard." With a smile, Grace stuck out a hand to shake- "I'm Grace. You are?"

Here she was again, becoming something of a regular these days. There were nights she didn't even drink now. Just sat and watched people and went home to her empty apartment. She preferred the solitude but being alone was feeling worse. The voices in her head were getting louder. Eventually she was going to have to do something she just didn't want to do. Best to put it off as long as possible.
More often than not she watched people stumble into one another or out the door. Hopefully not to make any more dumb decisions. But tonight there was a new face. "Got my own," Chuck looked down at the stool and back up at the woman with her eyes narrowed but a smile none-the-less, "You sure it was the bartender and not your tolerance? Usually makes them pretty weak for me."
Grace shrugged, settling back down into the chair. "Maybe I'm just not used to good bartenders then." With a chuckle, Grace turned to the woman, "I'm Grace. I just got in a little bit ago." Maybe Grace needed to just focus on making new friends and keep her butt in her seat where she couldn't embarass herself.

Asher decided that hitting up Jukebox Junction was a solid choice, even if the music wasn’t always his vibe. It was the only bar in town with a decent dance floor, and that was reason enough for him. The moment he stepped inside, he felt the deep thrum of the music vibrating through his body, causing the magic under his skin to hum in response. With a grin, he made his way toward the bar, the energy of the place buzzing around him.
As he approached, his timing couldn’t have been better—a woman nearby started to stumble. Asher, quick on his feet, wiggled his fingers subtly, letting the music guide his magic to help her regain her balance.
“She might,” he chuckled, nodding toward the barstool. “Maybe you should sit down and have some water? Wouldn't want you to stumble your way out of here."
Settling back into her seat, with a grin. She knew magic when she saw it, and she'd be lying if she didn't appreciate his quick thinking. "No you're so right. Water will definitely help the walk home."
She settled, flagging down the bartender again before turning. "Whatever you want, my treat? For the help back to my feet." Last thing she needed was to embarrass herself her first attempt at being out and social in the new town.
Warren still didn’t feel comfortable socializing with too many people, his instincts still a little too sharp and geared towards the fight. Distrust – of himself and others – rode too close to the surface for him to find it easy to interact with strangers, especially the innocent ones. And yet, he didn’t want to keep a lot of alcohol at his place either. Time in the pit or not, he still had too much humanity, and he refused to risk getting wasted by having nothing to do but drink alone.
So when he wanted something harder than soda, he’d pick one of the bars and have a couple of drinks before going home. Tonight it ended up being the Jukebox Junction.
Country . . . a little too like home, but it’d do.
His eyebrows rose as a woman seemed to almost fall off her stool. Without much thought, he put out a hand to catch her, but she caught herself just in time. “You okay?” he asked, the voice a rumble around the noise of the music.
"I swear it was only one drink." Grace grinned, looking up at the other. He cheeks flushed some, looking around to see who else caught that stumble. She had a long day, and it was very apparent how poorly she had taken care of herself today.
"Do they have food here? Maybe it'd be a good idea for me to grab a bite." Grace sat back down on the stool. "I'll treat if you want to join me? Since you stopped."

After a long day of dealing with movers, and assembling furniture, the young witch found herself at the first bar she could find. With a little bit of lipstick on, Grace settled at the bar with a cocktail. She was due for some celebration after all. Her home was coming along, she had her new job at the hospital starting and so far the town was quaint.
After sitting for a drink and mainly just people watching, she stood. Fully intended on making her way to the door, she stood from her stool a little too quickly. Catching herself, she turned to whomever was closest- "You're more than welcome to my seat- I think the bar tender has a generous pour."
this is the first time i've felt the need to confess
