Finally started writing my fic again 🥹 it's been way too long 🥹

care to expand on your vision for bicci's semi-ironic use of petnames? what do you reckon they call each other lol

It definitely starts as a competition to see who can embarrass the other one more. Lister pulls out the most stupid, made up pet names in front of other people, like if Jimmy asks him to grab something he'll go "sure thing honey bun sweet pea xx" and Jimmy utterly despises him for it. Jimmy tries to get his pay back but it always fails because he feels too awkward with it.

Then after a while it falls off, but Lister keeps up with shorter names like "hun" or "dear", which he does jokingly, but it reminds Jimmy of his grandparents and how they were, which really is his only perspective of a healthy relationship. So he subconsciously associates these pet names with warmth and love and happiness, which is why he doesn't stop Lister from using them. And I think Lister would catch on pretty quickly, so he doesn't stop, but he doesn't use them all the time, because he still finds it kind of silly.

From Jimmy's side, I can really only see him using pet names when either of them are super tired, or sick, basically when he doesn't have the energy to feel awkward about it. He has the weird perspective of being raised by loving grandparents who openly loved each other, but also having parents who did the opposite and he NEVER saw love between them. So he rarely uses pet names, but when he does he means it in a truly sweet way!! Like I can picture him half asleep calling Lister "love", or jokingly call him "babe".

If they do go down the on and off again route for years and years they would 100% be like those divorced couples who lwk still love each other and use pet names more than their real names. For the laughs, yknow?

okay so mostly deeply dysfunctional, chaotic, occasionally a bit toxic has got me obsessed with the idea of Jimmy hooking up with some guys either before he and Lister start hooking up, or during one of their breakups and one of them is like please please please fuck me and Jimmy is like sure yeah and tops this guy and has this moment of realization that he reallllyyy likes topping which just furthers his slut era and then he's topping men left right and center and I also think during these hookups he finds he really likes being more dominant in the bedroom, not like a lot, but he really enjoys being in control and basically just this post of @slugmania's. Oh! one more thing, I think at some point in bicci's on and off shenanigans either Jimmy hooks up with someone to make Lister jealous or Jimmy just hooks up with someone with no ulterior motives but it makes Lister insanely jealous so then Lister goes and hooks up with someone as a way to get back at Jimmy <3 to once again quote slugmania, pain and misery on planet bicci <333 and please if you have thoughts about any of this i would Love to hear them!!

Oh I genuinely believe that Jimmy's slut era transcends the game. Like to the point where he lwk has hooked up with more people than Lister... because Lister's recovering from a lot, and so he refrains from any sort of sexual activity for a while. thinking about how the secret nature of jimmy & lister’s relationship means something completely different to the two of them in regards to their respective trauma with exposure & secrecy. jimmy is terrified of their relationship being revealed & is constantly anxious about their cloud being hacked & texts being leaked or paps catching them. they probably don’t have much documentation of their relationship at all, which makes them both so sad, but jimmy just freaks the fuck out thinking about a repeat of the jowan photo leak- which, who was responsible for that 😐and lister is dealing with a nauseating sense of guilt and disgust and shame because he has been kept secret before, by people who were older & knew better and needed it to stay secret lest their careers go up in flames. he didn’t know how to tell his friends about that when it was happening, and now he can’t talk to rowan about things with jimmy, so he’s claustrophobic in the confines of the relationship. jimmy is in danger when things happen in public and lister is in danger when things happen in private.

What do you think Rowan's perspective of bicci's ultimate lifelong situation is? I like to see him as having a very stable traditional love life and its really funny to compare that to the mess his best friends are in

He is sooo sick of them <3 I actually started writing a bicci fic set at Rowan’s wedding (inspired by this mornings posting) where Jimmy and Lister haven’t spoken in years and then see each other at Rowan’s wedding and they sleep together cause of course they dooo. And Lister is in a relationship in the fic. Cheating can be so fun in fiction.

In the beginning I think Rowan is like “why would you two do this, it’s like you WANT to ruin our lives” but of course he doesn’t say it in those words but he’s Not Happy about it and he gets sick of them so quick because they are NOT subtle and the situation gives Rowan a massive headache.

I think after a year or a couple he’s just like. used to it. and as long as they don’t do anything that effects the band or if they get too annoying at home when they’re fighting and not talking to each other or when they’re in one of their lovey phases and he’s tired of it.

I think there’s a period where they’re in something that resembles a typical romantic relationship and Rowan is like okay…this could be good they’re getting it together maybe they can be good for each other now. And admittedly he’s rooting for them because he’s seen firsthand the pining and knows how much Jimmy wants a Normal and Happy relationship and maybe it would be kinda cool if that was Lister for him. But I don’t think that lasts long.

Then I think when they’re older like late 20s and Lister and Jimmy have had longer periods of not having sex or dating or anything like that and they see other people but inevitably end up hooking up again and Rowan realizes they’re never going to get over each other. For a while Rowan tries to not get involved in it, but they are his two best friends and he always ends up giving them his two cents when one of them goes to him about it. And he does always want to just say “grow up and get over it” but he usually listens and gives them actual advice, which is sometimes “get over it” but in more sophisticated words.

Basically he’s tired of their shenanigans and he loves them very much and thinks they’re so bad for each other but also are a bonded pair and permanently separating them would cause more damage for everyone (including Rowan) and in the early stages he desperately wishes he didn’t have to live with them while they figure wth they’ve got going on out, but not enough to move out because even though he’d never admit it he’s too scared to live on his own until at least his mid twenties.

I like to (sadly) imagine that Jimmy was exposed to a lot of arguments and yelling when he was a kid because of his parents, and so as a result he's REALLY good at fighting with people. And at some point in his life, maybe after Piero passes, there's a point where his immediate family are all together, and they play it out just like that one friday night dinner in Gilmore Girls (see attatched). Like Lister really neverrrr stands a chance when they're bickering lol. He's quick thinking and has a full mental list of everything anyone has ever done to him and it comes out as soon as someone pisses him off. He's constantly arguing with at least one of his family members, and I just know that the Kaga-Ricci family are stubborn so its always a standoff. I would reallyyyy like to explore that dynamic more because I think its so interesting and adds a really nice layer to his character!! But all in all never get into an argument with Jimmy Kaga-Ricci xx
