Yugi is a magical girl
In this essay I will demonstrate that Yugi and by extension Shadow Realm Demon guy is a Magical girl. Yes, this is a witch trial, I am the Spanish Inquisition but less sexist and christian, I was not baptized and don't wanna get wet so I'm going to hell with Atom or whatever his name was.
Let's tackle the magical part of the word first, he uses a magical artifact to transform his body into a taller version of himself. This is a classic amongst magical girls like Creamy Mami, and some others. But you might say, he doesn't get an outfit change full of ruffles, you fool, do not forget Card Captor Sakura, he simply didn't have access to any friends who knew how to sew to make him a gorgeous 1920s art deco style tunic, which is in essence a dress. Not enough homosexuals in the supporting cast tragically. His mascot is a draw between Yami and Joey, Yami because he is connected to the artifact. Joey because his hair reminds me of those fluffy caterpillars and he is always following Yugi around.
How do we know the giant caterpillar isn't controlling his brain? Exactly.
Now, the girl part, I would say the most controversial part. First of all, you do not need to be a girl to be a magical girl, as demonstrated by several recent shows centered around girls transforming into boys, boys into girls and Ranma 1/2 which I'm not gonna get into right now. Second of all, we don't know If Yugi had some kind of self discovery of screen during his retirement. To which I may ask, I have not watched all of Yu-gi-oh with Yugi, I know that he comes back as some kind of hallucination in GX, did he retire? Is my son still dueling, I don't think he is gonna be able to afford a pension If he keeps dueling forever.
Regardless, I would argue he should be allowed into the line-up, just maybe into like, the corner, with the edge of the frame cutting him off.
