ok buckle up cuz this is gonna be a bit long.

pink kid is named flower (they/them) and purple kid is named thorn (they/them).

Thorn is from an alternate timeline from flower that takes place in the far future compared to flower’s. In that timeline, Flower died of The Illness™️ (the flu. they were unvaccinated.) and sent their friend, Angel, into a spiral— he renames himself to “the scar” and becomes a horrible magic warlord and levels the entire country of japan eventually. ‘The Scar’ gained the ability to create artificial beings (dubbed ‘kenpekians’) out of magic. After many attempts he created the Thorn as a replacement for Flower. They were pampered to hell and back and all other members of the scar’s army were forced to pamper them as well. They were however still imperfect in the Scar’s eyes, thus why he decided they didn’t deserve flower’s name.

The scar eventually ended up invading present flower’s timeline in order to capture the version of himself that lived there (his goal was to fuse both of their souls and add another layer of immortality to himself). The thorn was never informed of Flower and did not know they were a cheap replacement for them.

In the resulting battle between the main group and the Scar, Flower ends up killing the thorn. Seeing this, the scar expresses his disdain for the thorn, calling them a “crude fake” and basically not giving a shit. The scar’s distraction and need to make the whole thing a dramatic performance gives Angel enough time to fuse his sword with him and seal him away for good.

Long after the battle ended, the Thorn is accidentally resurrected by Flower via their soul stone, and Flower is persuaded by a friend to just leave them be this time.

Thorn quickly finds out that the scar is, for all intents and purposes, dead. Furthermore is that videos of the battle have surfaced on the news and they see firsthand the reaction of their “best friend” to their death. Kenpekians are killed on sight for the most part and treated as terrorists, so they have none of their own kind left. Nobody wants to be around them because they are essentially a terrorist at this point. They watch from afar as Flower (whom they now know the truth about) has such a good and easy social life with lots of friends.

Thorn is an asshole because they were handed everything they ever wanted, including friends, by the scar, but now that he’s gone, they are all alone and have to navigate life by themself. They can’t help but be jealous of Flower. They don’t understand that their double worked to maintain those relationships. Thorn, knowing the truth, has massive self esteem issues knowing that they were just a stand in for the real deal and they could never be as good and as perfect as them.
