* ohhh heck.

     The generally orb-shaped monster went a little flatter when Myst began giving him the sort of attention he wanted. Kneading his shoulders felt almost ridiculously good if his borderline over-dramatic reaction was any indication, like he could have died happy in that moment.

* never? geeze, you’re missing out. cuddle naps are my favorite thing ever.

     He slipped an arm under the feline to hold them there against his side. With the addition of one of the smaller pillows that littered the bed his shoulder made for a pretty good pillow and it was almost embarrassing how quickly he began to doze off once he was settled and comfortable.

* shoulda done with sooner. mmm… g’night, myst. you really deserve this break.

“Hehe..”

Myst chuckled when Don went a little flatter from kneading his shoulders. It was funny to see, really. The feline monster hummed lightly, still kneading his shoulders to relax their friend.

“Mm, well, it’s kinda hard to cuddle nap when you have no one to cuddle nap with. A pillow doesn’t really do it much justice.” They said with a chuckle.

Being pulled closer, Myst purred quietly and got comfortable against Don’s side. They yawned, closing their eyes and nuzzling into his shoulder lightly, their tail swung over to act like a makeshift blanket.

Gaster returned after only a few minutes on the phone with Asgore. Seeing as this wasn’t their first time taking in someone off the street or from another universe, Asgore didn’t even need the full story before he agreed they should stay for Christmas.

When Gaster returned he let Myst and Keeper know that the former king had agreed. “Let’s get you set up in the spare bedroom.” He offered, “The couch isn’t all that comfy.” He motioned for them to follow down the hall. 

There were two twin beds in the spare bedroom for just a case such as this. “I would have preferred a library or a workroom, but with so many travelers coming out of nowhere these days, we both agreed making it a living space was a much better idea.”

Keeper looked up and smiled lightly at Gaster. It seemed that Asgore had approved of their stay for a few days. Myst was already half asleep by then, curled up into a ball on the couch. He chuckled lightly, standing up, and picking up the cat monster.

“Thank you, we appreciate it.” He said, following the other monster down the hall. Keeper looked around as he walked, mapping the place in his mind. Old habits died hard.

He smiled lightly at the sight of the room. “Oh, wow. Thank you, Sir.” He said. Myst cracked an eye opened and let out a soft sound of approval and thanks as well, wiggling out of Keeper’s arm. They wandered over to one of the beds and flopped face first onto it.

Gaster gave a quiet huff of air in slight amusement at Keeper’s polite refusal and Myst’s deflation. 

He hummed, “You wouldn’t be a burden; the holidays are about giving, after all! You two warriors deserve a rest and some good food.” He said genially, “Besides, by the look on her face I think Myst was looking forward to experiencing the holidays for the first time.”

“I’m going to make a call to Asgore and check with him,” He said, getting up and heading to the kitchen, “Don’t go anywhere!” He half-joked.

Keeper blinked and Myst perked up. “We won’t.”

 While Gaster left to make a call, the two spoke quietly.

It was decided that they could rest here, specially since Myst needed it more than Keeper, and it would give them a chance to experience this holiday. Keeper rubbed the top of Myst’s head, as he waited for the other to return.

* i’m always about to fall asleep, pal.

     He leaned his head to the side and rested it against Myst’s with a soft, happy humming sound. The embrace and squeeze felt nice and left him hoping that they’d keep doing it.

* heh. might be a little extra sleepy right now though.

     The bed was looking tempting. He started scooting in that direction, dragging his slippers along the cool stone floor until he reached his destination, a mattress easily big enough for three people to fit comfortably, and flumped face-first into it.

* you wanna do a cuddle nap? i love those.

“That’s true.” They chuckled and nuzzled his cheek lightly, purring softly. Their tail swayed lightly behind them, as they kneaded Don’s shoulders gently.

“Oh?”

Oh, they’re being moved to the bed. Well, that was fine. Once nearby, Don had flumped onto it face first. A soft giggle escaped Myst, as they crawled and settled down next to the skeleton, snuggling into his side.

* sort of. it’s more like comical wiggling, really, and it takes a lot to get me up off the couch. in fact, it takes so much that i haven’t done it in months. cause, ya know, effort.

     The monster shrugged his shoulders and squished his own nonsensical cheeks while he watched Myst twirl through tired, half-lidded eye sockets.

* glad you like them. maybe next time we hang out we should take it to the mall, huh? but for now, i’m thinking… sleepover.

Myst wiggled about and went over to Don, arms resting around his shoulder in an embrace. They hummed lightly and tilted their head. Don did look kind of tired.

“Sleepover?” They said with a nod of their head, smiling. The cat monster squeezed their friend’s shoulders gently.
