Hello ^_^

(1) Ed fell first -- i.e., developed a crush on Oswald that started with being starstruck and a little stalker-ish in s1-2, then progressed to the ridiculous heart eyes, "anything for you," and "I continue to be in awe of you" stuff in early s3 -- but was oblivious or in denial about any of this indicating that he was in love; then Oswald fell harder following the "anything for you" incident -- hard enough to be aware of what he was feeling (and the rest is history).

But I’m still stuck on that opening phrase because…what? I am so confused by how people view interactions on tumblr & AO3 these days. Let me make it very clear for anyone who is unsure:

CREATORS WANT YOU TO INTERACT WITH THEIR WORK.

The limit does not exist on how many of their works you can interact with in a certain period.

If you like every fic they’ve ever written? Then feel free to give them all kudos and even leave a comment on every single one if you feel inclined! If you’re going through someone’s blog and you vibe with every post, like/reblog to your heart’s content!

As long as you’re not expecting something back from them or adding a ton of irrelevant comments, it’s not spam! It’s what this is all about!! I’m not even much of a creator and I still feel a huge sense of pride when I see a ton of notifications in a row from a person, as it clearly shows they thought my blog was worth spending time on.

Something I really love about Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin) across Batman media is that he almost always has animals around him 🐧

For someone who’s usually portrayed as a crime boss, he consistently ends up being a little… animal person, a pet dad.

Some examples:

🐧 Penguins: the classic! In Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, he literally lives with penguins in the abandoned zoo.

🦈 Tiny the Shark: in Batman: Arkham City, Oswald keeps a huge shark named Tiny in the Iceberg Lounge.

🦅 Birds: in media like Batman: The Animated Series, The Batman (2004), and some comics, he keeps aviaries full of birds.

🐕 Ed the Dog: in Gotham (2014) he has a little dog he clearly cares about.

🦃 Jerry the Turkey: yes, he has turkeys in Lil Gotham. In the Thanksgiving issue, there’s a big Gotham Thanksgiving parade… and Oswald attacks the parade to defend the turkeys.

I just think it’s sweet that, no matter the universe, Oswald tends to surround himself with animals. Maybe they’re the only ones he trusts, maybe they’re the only ones who don’t judge him.

Either way, I think that Gotham’s grumpiest bird guy being soft with animals will always be adorable 💙
