It was a good 9 years, but all good things must come to an end and I think this is where we part ways. It is not an easy decision on my part and I say it with a heavy heart, but this blog is now an ARCHIVE.

Even from the first time she’d met Bruce Wayne, Vicki knew that he didn’t seem the type for the big charity balls and galas. That first night, there’d been a hint of something different about him. He’d seemed out of place. She’d been instantly drawn to him for his personality. She’d never once considered his fame or fortune. She’d wanted to get to know him deeper and emotionally because what she first met was not the whole picture. She had an eye for these things, after all. 

Just as she’d started to get a little stuffy, having her fill of the crowd at this particular gala, she heard his voice. A smile spread across her lips, relieved and happy. The music in the room had changed to something slow and romantic. She gladly took his hand. “Of course.”

The instant the words left his mouth, Vicki’s lips pulled into a smile. Her eyes met his and her arms moved to wrap around him, pulling him closer against her. Even now, she still felt a certain sense of butterflies when she was near him. He made her feel like no other man ever had or ever would. 

“Okay...” It was a soft murmur that escaped her before she gently moved to place her lips against his. Her hold tightened, deepening the kiss. It was certainly a more than welcome request to her.

Vicki held his gaze, trying to keep the tears that had brimmed up in her eyes from falling. She wanted nothing more than to let him whisk her away, kiss her, hold her and make her feel just like the day she had fallen in love with him. Even now, she never stopped loving him, but it was all so much sometimes.

She’d stayed by his side, keeping his secret. She knew going into it that he would always be Batman-- there was no changing that. In fact, she didn’t want to change him. Batman was part of him and she loved him for everything he was, no matter what. Still, the nights became longer and lonelier. Every time he left, she feared if he would ever come back. The thought of losing him was not something she could easily bear.

Her thoughts lately had started to drift to places she hadn’t wanted them to. How long until someone or something worse than the Joker showed up in Gotham? How long until the whole city would be in great danger and he would have to worry about her on top of it? She didn’t want to be the one thing that held him back. She needed Bruce with her whole heart and soul, but maybe that was selfish. Gotham City needed Batman.

//Hey guys. I’m popping in to update you all real quick.

I’m out of town tonight through Sunday then back to work at 7am Monday. I work full time so throwing that out there. I’ll have another similar trip sometime in the next month or so. On top of that? Depression is a bitch, my friends. I have a LOT of deep cleaning to do that I want to put more focus on so I can have everything where I want it when our furniture comes sometime in August.

So since I can’t promise when I’ll be online and how long etc it may take longer to get replies and my presence on here may not be as frequent for a bit. Not going away just kind of wanted to set a status so you all know where I’m at.

It had been almost half a year since  Vicki Vale had turned her back on Gotham City and on Bruce Wayne. They’d had a good run together, she and Bruce. She gave their relationship and him everything she had, but the more time that went on, the more she felt she was losing Bruce to something she could never save him from. Batman. She was always there, always trying to be his voice of reason and his shred of humanity, but it terrified her that one day she wasn’t going to be enough. She feared every day that he would go out at night and he wouldn’t come back. It was this fear that took hold of her and ultimately controlled her emotions on that fateful night that she chose to leave.

After all this time, she could remember it clearly. The fire was going, the flames flickering around them and dancing in their faces was the only light either of them could see. She wasn’t sure if he saw the tears falling down her cheeks or not, but she’d said what she’d needed to say. Despite how much she loved him, despite every single part of her telling her not to go and to run back into his arms and never let him go, she let Bruce Wayne go. She’d told him that it was his duality she couldn’t handle, when what she really meant was she was too afraid of what it meant for him and what it meant for them. The one thing Vicki would always fear the most was losing Bruce. She understood why he had to do what he did. She understood it probably more than anyone else would. She didn’t question it, she simply stood by his side and did her best to keep him alive—human. Few people were without their flaws and to her, Bruce Wayne was no different. When you loved something you loved it for everything it was and you protected it at all costs.

This was another reason she thought she needed to leave, but she didn’t say it. Vicki didn’t want to be the reason anything ever happened to Bruce. If, god forbid, someone worse than the Joker showed up and she was used again as leverage or some kind of sick and twisted ransom, she didn’t want Bruce to have to make a choice that would hurt him or kill him. She wasn’t strong, she couldn’t fight like him, but Vicki Vale did what she could to protect what she loved the most. She wouldn’t see Bruce hurt because of her, not if she could help it.

She’d swallowed hard, tears still falling down her cheeks and had kissed the only man she’d ever love on the cheek and told him to take care of himself. She told him she’d always love him, and she meant it. Attempting to smile for his sake, to let him know that everything was going to be okay, Vicki turned and did the hardest thing she would ever have to do—she walked out of that door and away from the man she loved more than anything. When she got in her car, safely away from his view, she’d broken down into tears.

Driving out of Gotham, Vicki had spent the months follow attempting to work more on her photography, just touring the country. But one thing stayed on her mind, one thing kept her from truly enjoying herself. Bruce. Every time she looked at a newspaper or turned on the television her blood would instantly go cold and her breath would hitch, fearing that the headline would tell her Batman was murdered, that her Bruce was gone and she’d never see him again. Most nights she spent sleepless, crying herself to sleep and fighting with her decision to leave. Maybe leaving wasn’t the answer. Maybe there was a better way to work through her fears and his flaws and that wasn’t like this, but instead, together.

Finally, Vicki had made the decision that she was going to return to Gotham. As she drove in the blustery,  Autumn night, her fingers clutched hard to the steering wheel. Would he even want to see her? Would he even talk to her? Was this a bad idea? No… She needed to see him, just one more time, even if he didn’t want to speak to her. She had to try. For her own sake. She had to.

Watching the gates of the manor swing open, she blinked and blew a few loose strands of her wavy blonde hair out of her face. There was no turning back now. She took a deep breath and got out of the car, the wind picking up. She only had enough time to look up at the darkened sky to watch a flash of lightning before it was followed by a loud echo of thunder and the skies opened up. Within seconds she was almost drenched to the bone, She shook her head, muttering a few choice words under her breath as she dashed as fast as she could to the door.

At this time (04/23/21), I am doing a soft reboot of this blog and wiping all current threads in favor of starting new ones and getting the muse flowing.
