Why photography?
photography has been the one thing that connects me with myself. Without that sounding really deep and soppy. But that's the thing, I have no other way of describing how something as simple as receiving a camera has changed my life forever.
As it goes; two and a half years ago I received my Nikon D7000, and my dad was sort of expecting it wouldn't be one of them wasted Christmas presents. And for a bit of time it was a struggle trying to get into... yet still I was intrigued to try and investigate with all these random buttons and a HUGE manual (which I'm pretty sure I didn't even read). Since having my camera I have slowly gained more and more experience and the best part of that is you never stop learning with photography. I've heard and met photographers that share the same mind set as me, they always have more material to use, more places to visit, and more people to photograph. My dads colleague Don James, is a professional photography and actually invited me on some of his shoots a while back now when I first started taking photos, and that was a big step with my confidence in taking pictures of people. In the wedding event I was working at, Don explained to me that "if I was to look on edge or nervous then no one is going to reach out and ask for photo's" (which Is key when it comes done to event photography). After my little photography runs with Don, he finally grew to achieve much more within his barriers of photography and sort of lost contact with him, however it does inspire more and keeps me motivated that I can follow through and achieve things that Don is achieving now.
My dream with my passion, is to be able to make images that people look at and can inspire off of me, also one of my big ambitions has always been (again this will be soppy), but is to change the world. Keep art alive. Because art can have such a big impact and can reach and touch emotions people never thought they could unmask.
Potentially, in ten years time I would like to see myself traveling the world taking photographs of portraits and investigating new types of photography.
Money has no effect on me because I am so determined to make sure that I fulfil a dream and not let it go to waste which I see so much in society today.
