I’ve just released a new jam game. This time, you’re a witch making potions. Please play it!
Added a simple little stall where you can sell your stuff! This is a simple implementation of something that will be more complex.
I have a plan for a first version of the game where there is an actual game you can play, even if it isn’t as meaty as the final game will be. Smaller tasks are easier to manage and work towards!

The incredibly talented Soi has made us a gorgeous axe model.
Now I need to fix the animations on the player model to do it justice!
New tree models. Get chopped!
Added some placeholder furniture so I could test a few new features:
• bigger than 1x1 furniture support (and the collision checks for that)
• rotation checks for bigger than 1x1 pieces
• outline on furniture that’s active (aka you’re controlling it)
These are not going to be in the final game. They’re only here for testing purposes. But it goes to show how even those simple models make even an empty room look better. Hope I find an artist soon!
I think that’s the interior stuff for now. Already works pretty well. Going to work on some other important base features now!

So, long time without an update, right?Â
I’m not an artist. I can’t make 3D models to save my life, but I’ve been trying to do it so the game doesn’t look absolutely terrible with just placeholder models and such. My models were terrible, but I was at least making some stuff to fill the gaps.
It was painful. Not only did it take a long, long time to make them, my models look bad. Really, really bad. It was destroying my motivation, and I ended up not working on the game for a bit.Â
But that just wouldn’t do! So I’ve decided to stop trying to make models for the game (which would probably end up in me giving up on life on the game) and just focus on doing what I enjoy doing: coding the game.
So that’s why the insects I added to the game have a fish model. You can hold a key to walk slower and approach them, because if you’re running, they’ll get scared and run away.Â

Hoping to expand on this over the next week. Even these placeholder models take a lot of my time, which I could be using to code more gameplay features. :(

These flowers also use the genetics system, meaning you can mix them and make hybrids!

Inventory reworked!
Had to rework the inventory system to accept stuff like item qualities. It broke a lot of stuff, but I got it back to a working state in under an hour, which was pretty nice! I have two qualities on every item. It'll be unused on most, but for those that need it it'll be there. For example, fruits and seeds: if you plant a Great fruit, there'll be a better chance of Great fruits spawning on that tree, and it might - very rarely - drop Supreme fruits too. If you plant a Supreme there'll be almost no chance you'll get a Basic fruit, and a higher chance to get Supremes. It's a super simple example of genetics, but I think this kinda thing really adds a lot of fun to games like this one.

Farming is already in! And with that, all the most basic gameplay systems are implemented.
I’m planning on having some simple (think AC:NL flowers) genetics, too.
Plants will have Quality and Yield modifiers. Higher quality genes mean your plant has a higher chance of dropping 2 or 3-star produce. Higher yield genes means your plant might drop a few extra tomatoes or beets when you harvest it!

 So, I've finally picked up my game again!
I put it on hold a while ago because I didn't feel like I was up to the challenge, but I guess I am now. Started from scratch.
I reimplemented basically everything I made in 3 months in less than a week (and just a couple hours a day at that, tops). The code is much cleaner and extensible, there's barely any no hacks, and everything just works. With how fast I made this stuff I'm really satisfied.
