Self Care Tips
Make time every day for some âme timeâ or make a dedicated day or two each week for this time.
Have a shower every day!
Brush and floss your teeth 2-3 times a day.
Use a soft bristle toothbrush: hard bristle toothbrushes can damage your gums and teeth.
Exfoliate 1-2 times a week if it suits your skin type.
Wash face and moisturise 1-2 times a day if it suits your skin type.
Do not wash your face in a hot shower: it will dry your skin out and will damage it.
Do something you enjoy and relax.
Get outdoors and get some fresh air.
Regularly exercise!
Eat a well-balanced diet.
Drink plenty of water!
Maintain healthy friendships.
Make some plans to look forward to.
Try meditation.
Get plenty of sleep.

Even though I feel a little lazy I managed to pull through and completed all the exercise questions from my lecture slides, and I only have 1 more chapter of flashcards to do! I feel like I spent the worse half of this semester just crying over chemistry :â) Also my PHI lecturer is the sweetest and just emailed me that I can retake my online test lol.Â

week eleven, semester two: a moodboard this week consisted of stressing out about tests (i got 86% on one!), marathoning queer eye, and drinking matcha frappesâš

Study breaks are way more important than we think - I mean, seriously.
For me, they can be expressed by browsing Tumblr and @studymasterposts , @studyquill , @emmastudies or @diaryofastemstudent âs blog or just relaxing. But why do we need study breaks?
Whenever you are wasting too much effort and time on a specific subject, your mind and your body will be pretty exhausted. The next day, youâll be like âNah, donât want to study, Iâll be tired and unmotivated anywaysâ and guess what?Â
Youâre right. No, honestly, youâre completely right - but if you donât change anything about your circumstances, it wonât be better the next time!Â
First of all, (and this one goes for like all of your life lol) itâs sooo sooo sooooooo important to stay hydrated - trust me, Iâm one of those girls who doesnât drink enough and yeah, itâs pretty shit⊠Migraines, headaches and feeling tired are the results and it will make you feel less motivated to study than at the beginning. I know, that the phrase âStay hydratedâ is all over Tumblr, even the musicblrs post âStay hydratedâ like whaaaat - you get it.
Guys, simply drink water!Â
My tip: Put a water bottle on your desk before you start studying - this way, you have always some kind of visual reminder that you should stay hydrated!
Okay, so now, that you are hydrated, it depends on your time of break what follows next. As itâs important to be focused while studying and not falling asleep on your notes, you should recover for a while.
Depending on your break it can be beneficial to take a break - but please, do not go for a nap if you have less than 10 minutes of time! Most people go for a nap that takes between 10 and 30 minutes, any longer and youâll be feeling tired and your performance and focus will be reduced.
My tip: I use to drink a cup of coffee before I take a nap, the coffee needs around 20 minutes to be effective - this way I wake up refreshed and happy.
Is it just me or does dressing nicely really improve our focus?Â
I really like to put on some âgoodâ clothes, even though sweatpants are way comfier. Just put on a nice sweater instead of your pyjamas and youâll feel more focused and serious about your tasks. Another nice thing to do (if youâre that kind of person); paint your nails and do your make-up. For the boys⊠the same goes for you (maybe not the nails but do whatever floats your boat).
My tip: If you find it hard to follow the steps above or you donât have enough time to dress up, I recommend just brushing your teeth and make a messy bun.
For those of you, who didn't follow the step of getting dressed nicely and are smelling like cheese because of your old nighties, you should definitely think about taking a shower.Â
Neither your dog - the good boi - nor your mom wants to smell this mixture of pizza, sweat and whatever you might have inside your room. So, do yourself a favor and take a nice, refreshing shower! Youâll feel awake and focused afterwards.
My tip: I personally really like to take âmixed showersâ; this means not completely hot, neither totally cold. If you change the temperature while showering, your body will feel refreshed and the blood circulation will improve.
I really enjoy cooking or creating some nice snacks during my breaks! Thereâs nothing better than an iced banana or some healthy veggie chips (lowkey hipster) :D
So, just take a look at recipes on the internet or go take a walk to the nearest store!
My tip: I love the iced banana option because itâs pretty healthy and still tastes delicious like ice cream!
I hope I was able to help you out and show you my favorite things to do during my breaks :) Tag me in your posts if you want me to see your break ideas (#nadjastudies or #takealooksid)!
More break ideas coming soon!
