one of the things i've been trying to learn for wave symbol is the neurofunk bass, now used in neuro-hop and dubstep, too.

i've noticed that in my design, a lot of the sub bass is lost with the processing, so i made an extra sub bass to "reinforce the sub". the problem is, i can't seem to get it to glide properly along with the main, textured neuro bass, so it sounds somewhat jarring.

did a couple of warmups to figure out where i need to be with the album, and here they are.

one was a minimoog (NI Monark) jam session and the other was a break constructed from sliced loops and hard drums in a kit.

Today I spent the latter half of the evening doing a spur of the moment Tatsuro Yamashita cover.  The original is very breezy and lovely and funky and rules completely, and I guess I projected my own mood onto it.  I dunno, I think it embodies the whole "optimistic desperation" idea that I reach for pretty well. Hope you dig it.

I have a new song coming out that isn't chiptune but I did a chiptune arrangement of it as a backing track for my shows coming up Saturday and Monday. Here it is minus the guitar and vocals, so I guess you'll just have to come to one of my shows to hear it in all its glory~
