“Death, taxes and my corny jokes those things don’t change. Actually wait. Death changes, I don’t pay taxes...so corny jokes it is.”

“I got Dad jokes now, and I’m still devastatingly handsome.”

“I mean it started off as funny but now i’m wondering was your name really Big Bird? I mean you’ve got the beak and the chicken legs.”

“Wasn’t that your nickname?”

Wrapping his arms around her waist he kept her as close as he could. “You.” He kissed her lips quickly. “You’re my wish, I have you and you’re so damn perfect for me I can’t stand it. You are honestly the reason I made it to thirty-eight.” He knew he was being a little overly emotional but last year had been hard for him, with Amara and then his mother, it was hard but Jo had been his pillar and he felt the need to tell her that.

“No you’re doing good, I’m serious you are catching on just fine. Remember things were different for you, by the time you were born the bunker was around and you were raised on the road like the others were.”

“Yes you do and I know it’s hard but I am so proud of you, you’re doing so good.”

After she came back into his life he didn’t need another wish, he had her and Ellie, she’d given him everything he wanted. She was perfect for him, like no other before, simply because she understood the lifestyle and understood that he was never going to change, but in some way he had. He wasn’t willing to leave them for long, he stopped trying to sacrifice himself and tried to just be there for his family. “Wonderful.” He told her after chewing the bite and giving her another squeeze. “You know...I can tell you my wish because it came true.”
