sometimes his rage gets the better of him, uncontrollable anger taking him out of whatever moment he’s in and making his vision go red. the anger wasn’t directed at ryder, not at all, but he happened to show up while liam was far too caught up in his feelings to stop and recognise what was going on. he’s just lucky that ryder managed to duck fast enough to not get hit. the wrench hits the wall hard, clattering to the floor with a thud and leaving yet another wall in their house with a hole in it. he’ll worry about trying to fix the wall later, when things are less intense. breathing is heavy, a moment spent looking at the wrench on the ground, slowly looking up at ryder. “sorry.” voice is quiet as he begins to calm down, the shock of almost hurting - almost killing - ryder has him stunned out of his rage. “i.. i didn’t..”

          BUSTED!  dad  sees  through  the  facade,  and  can  jason  really  pretend  to  be  surprised?  he’s  not  subtle,  not  at  all.  he  says  he’s  fine,  insists  it  even,  but  he  acts  like  he’s  on  the  verge  of  breakdown.  skips  school,  skips  meals,  draws  increasingly  more  intense  and  more  violent  pictures.  the  boy  is  on  the  verge  of  a  bad  place,  and  even  if  he  wasn’t  acting  out  it’d  be  obvious.  the  constant  pouting,  the  permanently  furrowed  eyebrows.  the  confused  creases  on  his  face  may  just  be  deep  enough  to  forever  remain.   “  ‘m  fine.  ”   but  even  the  way  he  says  it  is  clearly  not  confident  —  he  knows  he’s  been  caught.
