I am able to be here for a little while, but unable to work on my doc because itâs not loading all the way for some reason? Iâm sure itâs just my internet or something lol, but while Iâm here does anyone WANT A STARTER?
rpsocsandcanonohmyâ:
Harry sat on the other side of the blanket and picked up his own sandwich. âIâm glad ye like it.â He had to admit it was pretty good meal, even if it wasnât the fanciest or the most flavorful thing. It also felt pretty good to eat something heâd made himself; maybe heâd do it more often and learn how to make more.Â
He frowned a bit when she mentioned not eating properly but recovered quickly. âYe should take better care of yerself. Ye canâ do everythinâ on an empty stomach.â He knew that all too well. When you had to fight for food most days, you learned to appreciate it. âSurely yer mum makes lunch for ya or somethinâ. Or is she too busy for that too?â
Despite the rather plain aspect of the meal, Jane truly did enjoy it. It was simple yet effective and the fact that it was made for her, by Harry no less made it all the better. She didnât require a three course meal to be happy after all. Somethings were just better this way. At his beratement of her eating habits however, the fae girl blushed and looked down at her sandwich in something akin to shame. She never meant to mistreat herself in that way, she was simply too busy sometimes. There was always something to do around here after all.Â
Jane shrugged her shoulders before taking another bite. âShe used to. We both just got busy I guess. Itâs okay though. Iâm used to it.â Jane loved her mother, she really did. But having her around all the time and still not have time for her? It surely stung a little. But Jane hadnât lied. She had gotten used to it. âBut now I have this feast. So I donât need her to make me lunch huh?

rpsocsandcanonohmyâ:
Harry looked up when he hears her heels on the stone and gave her a slightly more genuine smile than usual. âWhy, thank ye. I donâ do anythinâ halfway; one of the best lessons I ever learned from Da.â One of the only lessons, but definitely more useful than the others now. âI even made the sandwiches meself to with the whole âtrying to be goodâ thing. I hope ya like peanut butter anâ jelly.â
He had to admit, part of him was nervous about this. The last time he did something nice for someone was put together a small birthday party for Gil a few years ago and that almost ended badly when Hook found out he stole from the rum stash. Great party overall but the screaming match had soured it a bit. But the chances of that happening this time were zero to none, right? Or maybe Fairy Godmother would randomly drop by and yell at them for skipping a lesson. Either one.
With a returning smile, Jane lowered herself onto the blanket he had placed beneath the food and smoothed the skirt of her dress out as she did so. She sat so properly with her legs tucked beneath her, sticking out to one side, and her bag was placed somewhere behind her. If they were to do a little bit of their lessons while they were out here, they could wait until after they ate. He surely wouldnât run off as soon as he was done after all, right? At least Jane hoped not. âYou did really good honestly. It looks delicious.âÂ
Now yes, it was just a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but she realized he had tried just like she asked, and so the proper kudos was due. If he wasnât praised for the little things, why would he ever be tempted to do the bigger things. It was how a child learned right from wrong, and without trying to talk down to him or anything, she thought the method would work just fine. With another smile shot his way, she daintily picked up her portion and took a bite. âYou have no idea how much I needed this to be honest. Iâve been living off of toast and crackers for days now it seems.â Sheâs just been so busy with everything that was on her plate, she never even had the time to slow down and cook a little. So this was really a nice change of pace for the fae girl

HEâS NOT SURPRISED, not really. A chuckle leaves the pirateâs lips just how confused she looked. âThen I can have ya, duckling.â Her innocence was almost cute.Â
A nervous chuckle. He wanted her?! It seemed like a joke, and he had laughed so maybe thatâs all it was? Jane will shuffle upon her feet, and green eyes will glance downward quickly before she looked back up at him. Her curious nature got the better of her. âWhy would you want me?â
Iâm the kind of rpâer the subscribes to the âyes, andâ or the âno, butâ method. Your muse has every right to deny mine of something theyâve said of course, Iâm never gonna force you to do something lol but if you just leave it at âno.â itâs not as fun! This isnât for anyone specifically but I was watching whose line is it anyways just a minute ago and I gotta say, they do it so well. And it applies to rpâing more than some might think. You always gotta bring something new, even if its the tiniest of options lol.
rpsocsandcanonohmyâ:
Harry grinned and bowed playfully. âIâm sure. See ya tomorrow, duckling, and prepare for a delicious lunch.â He wasnât much of a cook but he could probably figure something out.
The next day, he sat on the stone platform of the old gazebo, laying out a small picnic. It was only some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but making anything else wouldâve required some slight of hand and he was trying not to do that. He had promised to try after all. He had stolen some brownies from the cafeteria but he figured that stuff was free anyhow so it didnât really count.
To say that Jane wasnât nervous would have been a lie. Perhaps there was no reason to be, but still the fae girl couldnât help it. Harry made her that way whether he meant it or not, there was just something about the way he looked at her. Though she convinced herself thatâs just who he was and that it meant nothing and after only a mild panic attack, she found herself at the lake.Â
Eyes scanned the entire shore line, unsure of where he was - and for a moment she thought he had stood her up, but then she spotted him and smiled softly to herself. There he was, in the gazebo placing everything upon the blanket. Oh wow. He had really gone all out hadnât he? Nervous footfalls bring her closer to the structure until her heels click onto the stone and announce her presence. âYou really meant a picnic didnât you? This is so ... nice Harry!â
rpsocsandcanonohmyâ:
Harry chuckled and grabbed his hook. âWell, it may not be necessary but Iâd like ta do it. A snack wonâ make up fer a full meal and I donâ think you Auradonians are used ta skippinâ those. Look, I made ya miss lunch so Iâll make ya a new one. Itâs only right.â Like he said, he knew how to be good, he just chose not to be most of the time.
âLeave the details ta me, duckling. Iâll get everythinâ tagether anâ meet ya at the Lake. Usual time?â
Should she agree to his suggestion? Part of her wanted to, just to see what he was like outside of the classroom setting but why? To be friends with him? Surely she could always use more friends. But even Jane had to admit that wouldnât be the entire reasoning behind saying yes. Especially not after he called her âducklingâ again. The single word got the same reaction out of her that it had the first time, and she melted slightly with a giggle and a smile. It was still shy of course, but before she could really think about it, the fairyâs daughter was nodding.Â
âOkay. If youâre sure.â With a quick wetting of her lips, Jane smiled and finally landed her gaze upon his own. She wasnât sure what would happen, but really ... what could go wrong? After all, they were just two friends hanging out right? He may even let her go over a few lesson questions while they ate if she played her cards right. So really, what was the harm?
rpsocsandcanonohmyâ:
Of course. If he wasnât going to do the lesson, he still had to prove he was learning something. âDonâ wanâ me ta get kicked out, eh? âOw sweet oâ ya. If only tha rest oâ the school cared thaâ much, then we might noâ even be 'ere.â Harryâd kept his promise to Uma to not pick any fights but it seemed some people were looking for trouble. âI suppose since yer doinâ me the favor of lyinâ, I could try. Not sure how much Iâll be able ta ignore Chad though; heâs determined ta get his arse kicked.â
He stood from his chair and winked at the fae. âOf course; Iâll take ye out ta lunch one day, my treat.â He did feel a little guilty about keeping her so late but he still hadnât figured out how to process that feeling. âWhat say tomorrow you 'n me go out anâ have a little picnic?â
âThank you. All youâve gotta do is try, Iâll talk to Chad too.â She wasnât sure what that would accomplish, but Jane could at least try. After all, she had been truthful. She didnât want Harry to fail. Or any of the other VKâs for that matter, but somehow, more so with Harry. She could blame it on the fact that she was invested now, and it would look bad on her if he didnât succeed. But she knew that wouldnât be entirely truthful. Jane liked Harry, even though he was rough around the edges and never wanted to put forth the right amount of effort. And to see him go would make her sad.Â
Jane stood at the same time as he did, and slung her bag over her shoulder. She was about to agree with his proposal, before it truly dawned on her what he was suggesting. Her pale cheeks darkened with a blush before she looked away, eyes landing on anything besides him. âOh! I just ... well I just thought weâd swing by the snack machine on the way out. I didnât .... I didnât think youâd wanna go all out like that. Really. It isnât necessary.â It sounded like a date even if thatâs not how he meant it and the still shy girl wasnât sure what to do about that.

rpsocsandcanonohmyâ:
Harry wrinkled his nose at the thought of a specialized workspace. He didnât want to be singled out, he just needed to work in his own way. His transcript at Serpent Prep was actually pretty good as he was free to do his work how he wanted and his grades sucked here because he couldnât. But he certainly wasnât the only one like that so maybe it wouldnât be so bad.
He was ready to jump out of his chair and run when she said sheâd sign off and he almost didâŚbut then she asked for a promise. âWhat sorta promise? Does it have anythinâ ta do with this class?â
Jane smiled when he didnât instantly turn her proposal away. Slowly, the fae girl placed her papers back into her binder and tucked them gently into her bag. She could just tell him right away, but some part of her thought the suspense was more fun. And she hardly ever had any of that, so sheâd milk it for just a moment longer. Once everything was put away, she folded her hands neatly atop the table and focused her gaze over at him. âI want you to promise me youâll try. Even if itâs little things. Even if itâs just ignoring Chad once and a while. We need to show my mom that youâre at least trying okay? I donât want you to get kicked out.âÂ
And why not? After all, if he did get kicked out, she would be free during this time in the afternoons again. Sheâd have plenty of time to get her own things done, but despite that the desire to keep him around was there. And so she would request that of him. It was simple enough, and after tucking a stray hair behind her ear, she tacked on a little extra bit at the end, just for her. Just to see what he would say. âAnd you have to take me out for that snack you mentioned earlier. I skipped lunch to do this lesson with you today you know. Itâs the least you could do after making this go on for so long.â
Iâm the kind of rpâer the subscribes to the âyes, andâ or the âno, butâ method. Your muse has every right to deny mine of something theyâve said of course, Iâm never gonna force you to do something lol but if you just leave it at âno.â itâs not as fun! rpsocsandcanonohmyâ:
Why doesnât he want to be good? âEasy; itâs fun.â Well, thatâs part of the answer anyway. âWhy do we âave to follow rules all the time? Like the rules thaâ donât make sense, the kind it doesnâ hurt anyone ta break. Take yer mumâs rules fer example. What does it mattâr if I like ta doodle on my tests? No one but yer mum ever notices but she marks me down when I do. Then she gives me detention if I leave the room too much and thatâs my only other way to get through the class. Anâ she never said I couldnât doodle on âem so itâs not like I knew I was doinâ anything wrong the first time. Seems like a dumb rule ta me.â Of course, thereâs a bit of a difference between taking too many water breaks and starting fights.
âThen thereâs the double standards of it. Chad starts jusâ about all our fights but Iâm the only one who gets in trouble. Why? Heâs the one that got a rise out oâ me and pushed me. Shouldnât he get in trouble to fer instagatinâ? Why should I bother with beinâ good if people like âim get away with beinâ bad?â
She hated to admit it, but he had a point. Chad hardly ever got in trouble whenever he broke the rules. Perhaps due to his parents status, and how much they had donated to the school, or even simply just his status on the Tourney team. After all, if you got in trouble too many times the coach was forced to take you off the team. And before Jay had come along, Chad was their star player. Either way, it didnât seem very fair. Harry was right. Her brows knitted together even further as she thought his words over. Had her mother really not told him about the doodle rule? It seemed ingrained into her mind since forever, but if she hadnât told him, it didnât seem very fair to mark him off.Â
âI can talk to my mother. See if I can do anything about getting you into a different class set up.â Maybe he wouldnât be able to leave the classroom whenever he wanted, but if there was a specialized set up just for him, and any of the other Isle kids that had been raised to act the same? Maybe they would actually benefit. After all, it wasnât right to just throw them into the deep end and expect them to act as though they were all perfect Princeâs and Princessâ. Jane sighed once more before looking down at her papers. Perhaps now was a good time to end their lesson for the day. It didnât seem like they would make much more progress than this. âI donât know what I can do about Chad and the others though but ..... I can sign off on todayâs lesson. If you make me one promise.â
rpsocsandcanonohmyâ:
Harry groans and leans back in his chair. âI know, I know. The good option would be ta stay here, do thâ work, and not shove Chad against the lockers next time I see âim. I know what good is: the opposite of everythinâ we did on the Isle.â He learned that quick enough during his first few days at the school.
âBut why? Whatâs the point? Whether I do the fuckinâ sheet or not, Chadâs still gonna be an ass. Jayâs still gonna annoy the hell out oâ me. Umaâs still gonna be too busy for me. Audreyâs still gonna act like I donâ exist now thaâ sheâs got her good side back. And yer mumâs still gonna watch me like a hawk in case I steal somethinâ.â Whatâs the point of learning to be good when people are still going to treat you like a criminal?
Jane nodded along with the first part of what he said. Everything that she had wanted him to learn was right there. Maybe he had been paying attention. But then he continued on and asked the point. She opened her mouth to answer, assuming one would come naturally - but nothing did come. In fact, the Fae girl was left stunned. Green eyes blinked a few times in thought, and then in confusion, before her mouth eventually just closed and her shoulders slumped down. She really didnât have an answer for him, but she would try anyway, despite how lame it sounded. Even to her.Â
âBecause itâs the right thing to do. Everyone expects that out of us.â Thereâs a shrug of her shoulders. Having The Fairy Godmother as a mother wasnât easy. She was watched closer than the other kids, and kept close to her mothers skirt - perhaps it had stunted her. But she had learned right from wrong much quicker. Maybe that had stunted her too? Maybe she had never had a rebellious stage because she didnât think she could get away with it. But no. That wouldnât be right. Jane frowned at her own thought before looking over at him. âWhy donât you want to be good?â

"Hey, what's wrong?" for Jane
Your muse has found mine crying alone in their room. Send âHey, whatâs wrong?â for my museâs reaction.
All Jane wanted to do was be alone for a little while. The amount of things upon her plate had been mounting, but she couldnât focus on any of them. Not after the conversation she had had with Carlos that morning. He was leaving - most likely for good. And where did that leave them? Not in the best of places she gathered, but in all honesty she hadnât been able to complete the conversation. She had been too instantly heartbroken at the very idea, so instead of playing the part of a grown up and talking things through, she had run off and had been hiding away in her bedroom ever since.Â
Her phone buzzed like crazy upon her nightstand, but she had ignored it. And there had been several knocks upon her door, but whomever had been on the other side had respected her lack of an answer before leaving, but not Harry. He had simply come on in, seemingly shocked to see her in tears. But to her surprise, he was asking what was wrong, and his tone seemed genuine. Jane hesitated for a moment, until the shock of him barging in had worn off before sniffling and turning her head away from him. She didnât want anyone to see her like this. âCarlos and I broke up.â Not officially, but thatâs where her mind had been.
rpsocsandcanonohmyâ:
âWell, maybe if the lesson werenât so damn boring, Iâd be more inclined ta apply meself.â Harry taps his foot rapidly as he looks down at the worksheet for the zillionth time in the last hour. Itâs not like he means to be a problem student, not really, he just canât do the whole âsit down and learn for x minutesâ. It was easier on the Isle when he could wander out of class when he wanted or doodle or something. But Auradon, and Fairy Godmother in particular, frowned upon such distractions in school.
âLook, why donâ ye jusâ write down that we did the thing and jusâ go get a snack or somethinâ? I know ye donâ wanna be here any more than I do and itâs not like Iâll ever understanâ this stuff anyhow.â
âThey arenât boring!â Thereâs a tiny scoffing sound that escapes Jane, and her eyes widen as she realized she had done it out loud. She straightened her back and shuffled her papers some to seem more professional before sighing. Was there any use? His suggestion was tempting, to just say that they had completed the lessons, but her mother would know better. After all, she was looking for his behavior to improve more than anything else. It wasnât just about simply completing lessons.Â
âItâs just basic goodness Harry. I promise itâs not that hard. All you have to do is pay attention. I mean ... what sounds like the more wholesome option? Being honest and doing your work or lying and cheating your way through? This is a classic good versus evil choice here.â
