I love reading and watching truly nasty, problematic, taboo topics in any works of fiction. It's incredibly interesting how different people approach such topics, how they describe them, whether it's problematic or not, it's simply a means of exploration.

Truman doesn't particularly like certain pets. He allows Lily to have them simply because he knows she's capable of caring for them herself. He took out his aggression on animals as a child (rats, chickens, anything small that couldn't put up a serious fight) because he wasn't taught why it was wrong, and despite outgrowing it, he never developed a love for any animal, perceiving them as a "function." But at least he bonded with Lily's dog, because dogs can live a long time.

It’s so cool to judge people for their hobbies in some media/fandoms, and then talk about love for all people and understanding. Fuck off
