BUT WHEN IT COMES TO ODYSSEUS, ANNABETH IS ODYSSEUS! Sea of Monsters is when Annabeth gets to SHINE, SHE is the Odysseus in their relationship. She is the favorite of Athena, SHE is the one who has the fatal flaw of hubris while PERCYS is loyalty. SHE is the one that chains herself to the ship so she can hear the sirens call, she’s the one that navigates them around Charybdis, SHE tells Polyphemus she’s nobody, SHE identifies the lotus eaters in The Lightning Thief, SHE is the one that makes the hard but logically sound decisions, but still lets her feelings get the best of her because she’s human. Annabeth. Is. Odysseus. If there ever was one. Percy is cunning in his own way, much like Penelope, he’s a fighter in his own right and he is a match for Annabeth intellectually because he has the *emotional* intelligence and the people skills. He can do the stalling, he trusts her intrinsically and will always wait for her, but he isn’t a warrior of the mind, ANNABETH IS

then as annabeth, the pendulum settles in the middle where she still has her pride, but she learned from her previous life to not let it get the best of her, even if sometimes she slips up like with the sphinx. she has better control over it, she's her own person, she finds that harmony between both of her previous lives
