A Gaggle of Goobers!

Wow, sorry for letting this lay in my askbox unanwsered for months. Sure! For years now I've been meaning to bring back Featherkit or make a final video about her, but now with my focus fully shifted to Red Smoke that's probably not gonna happend. Who knows, maybe someday I'll turn turn this post into a youtube video summerizing all the stuff I had planned for her.

A run-down of Featherkit's story:

-Featherkit was born in Thunderclan as a child of Dovecry and an unknown tom. She had 4 littermates: Silverkit, Wrenkit, Boulderkit and Hopekit (The runt of the litter)

-After she was born, medicine cat Poppycloud recived a prophecy from Starclan that if left alive, Featherkit was to destroy the clans in the future

-Poppycloud didn't want to kill a literal baby, so he never told anyone about the sign and instead tried to lead Featherkit on a good path. He took her under his wing and got her insterested in medicine, thinking that by keeping her close he could prevent the prophecy.

-Featherkit has always been a little bit strange and detached from other cats around her. It seemed like she always had her head in the clouds. She struggled to understand certain emotional concepts like empathy, but still really loved Poppycloud and her family. Out of her siblings, she was always closest with the shy introverted Hopekit

-At 2 moons old, Featherkit lead her siblings into the woods and convinced them to eat a some yew berries, causing their deaths. Hopekit was the only one who refused and witnessed the whole thing go down. This completly traumatized him. When the bodies were discovered, Featherkit told the adults that her siblings ate the berries out of their own volition and Hopekit went with her story out of fear. (Although this is pretty bad, I always wanted to leave Featherkit's actions as ambiguous. She told Hopekit this was suppouse to only be a prank and kids can do some pretty messed up things without being evil. Whether her intentions were malicious and if she knew what she was doing I leave up to you)

-Ultimatly, Hopekit told Dovecry and Poppycloud about everything. Poppycloud already had his suspicions and at that point, decided to come clean about the prophecy to Dovecry. She was horrified and heartbroken, but after a long talk they decided on what to do.

-On a beautiful snowy day, Dovecry and Poppycloud took Featherkit out of the camp. They had a suprise for her, a special day dedicated just for her where she could do whatever she wanted to. She played in the snow for hours, examined winter plants with Poppycloud and had as much fun as a kit can have. She fell asleep in a clearing, so tired from all the excitement she couldn't make it back to the camp. As soon as she fell into slumber Poppycloud gently snapped her neck

-Featherkit woke up in the dark forest and has wandered it's territory ever since. It's hard to really know what she thinks about it, she's just as cryptic as she was when she was alive. Many cats who encounter her are shocked as to why a kit is in the dark forest and how could Starclan have ever send a kit here

And that's Featherkit's story! Can't say I'm very proud of it anymore but it's still something that I think back to foundly.

There was suppoused to be another character in this story: Foxmaw, a dark forest tom who took it upon himself to be Featherkit's caretaker. He himself died before his mate had their first litter and this lost chance at fatherhood is what drove him to want to protect Featherkit. (I sold the design in this pic so if I ever wanted to come back to this story he'd need a redesign)

And as a little treat, I'm gonna post a bunch of unfinished/never posted Featherkit art under the cut! There's a lot of those, at that time I suffered from really bad perfectionism and would constantly abandon projects after starting cause they weren't up to my standard
