;; WHY DO ALL OF MY PRECIOUS CHILDREN BBS HAVE TO HAVE DEAD GIRLFRIENDS?
;; In other news, sheepy-munâs debating another muse now. I only have Zeno and Zen at the moment so itâs not like I have 5 or 6 blogs going at once or anything
ăŒăăăă§ăšăïŒ ăšăć°ăăăăăăŁăă
She had sneaked out of the hut before the other one woke up. Kaya had her scarf tied tightly around her mouth, making sure that her business in the village was over quickly. She had saved money for today and had bought a basket filled with freshly baked bread that she now quietly put on the table, decorating everything with yellow flowers she had found. Afterwards she gently tried to wake Zeno up by kissing his forehead "Happy Birthday, Zeno ! Kaya prepared a great breakfast for you, come look!"
Zeno had found himself surprised at being awoken by the feeling of lips on his forehead. Bright blue eyes fluttered open to make contact with those of the girl he was staying with -- what a great way to start the morning. He hadnât expected the morning greeting, even more so the little present sheâd given him.Â
ăEh...? Happy Birthday...? Breakfast...?ă
Honestly, heâd completely forgotten his birthday was that day. Leave it to Kaya to remember, he guessed. He wasnât exactly one to celebrate his birthday, but well... Maybe if it was with Kaya he wouldnât mind as much though -- besides, it had been a while since heâd celebrated being a year older, a long while.Â
As he managed to break free of his half-asleep stupor, he gave the girl in front of him a bright smile. Kaya was sick, and she went through such lengths to do something like this for his birthday; it would be rude not to celebrate with her.Â
ăEh? Thank you! Is your sickness okay...? It must have been a lot of work making breakfast, right?ăÂ
Counting Years [Birthday Open]
As it drew close to the dayâs beginning, the restless Ouryuu glanced up at the night sky. It would be starting to change color soon, the dawn of a new day. Zeno had found himself almost at the end of a sleepless night, unsure if he should anticipate or dread the dawn of the next day.Â
Another year, he mused quietly to himself. His prized possession, the medallion gifted to him by King Hiryuu, was in his hands. He held it towards the sky he was staring down, heaving a sigh. Another year among the countless years heâd all but lost count of. At this point, a birthday was nothing special, but he still seemed to find himself restless the nights before.
Before long, Zeno found himself staring at the early morning sky, and a melancholy smile found its way to his face. The pendant was placed back in its proper position, and Zeno stretched in preparation for the day.Â
ăWell... It seems Iâve grown another year older...ă
He talked to no one in particular, only hoping that his words would reach Hiryuu, and maybe even his older dragon brothers, up in the heavens. They werenât really meant for anyone else, and he would be fine leaving it at that. Perhaps it was his own strange way of marking the occasion, making sure he didnât forget his own birthday in his jumbled years.Â
ăWhy donât you all celebrate for me? Meanwhile... Iâll just try to tough it out as best I can.ă
Another day, and another year had passed. As for exactly how old he was, well heâd long since lost count, and it didnât really matter anyway. All he could do was his best. Heâd let his king and his older dragon brothers do all the celebrating for him up in the heavens. Or... So he thought.

⌠â â @goldeneternal â ( starter ).
Hands, bruised from Yonaâs daily archery practice, grabbed the sleeve of the yellow dragon, pulling him close into a hug. â⊠I am sorry, Zeno. I am sorry I never told you what the Ouryuuâs powers would do to you. I am sorry, I knew it for a while I just never found it in my heart to tell you - or maybe I was just a coward. What if you would not only resent the Ouryuu but your brothers and me? But I never meant for you to suffer as much as you did, can you find it in your heart to forgive your foolish King?â
The sudden action of being pulled in by Kouka Kingdomâs young princess had startled Zeno. They often hugged affectionately, sure, but... This was different. Zeno could tell, and he was completely bemused by the action. This was completely like Princess Yona -- but when she spoke, that was when Zeno understood everything.Â
ăMy... My King?ăÂ
It was the young missâ voice, and her face, but Zeno knew. He knew better than anyone would, that manner of speaking. Why... no, How? Heâd never experienced anything like this before, and it was mind boggling. All the Ouryuu could do was freeze up for a moment, processing what was happening, and the words that seemed not to match the beautiful, feminine voice that were speaking them.Â
ăI...ă
He couldnât even speak. He wasnât sure what was going on, how it was happening, or even what he should say. This was his first time talking to his king in over two thousand years, and it was so sudden -- let alone the fact that he was technically looking at the young girl he was supposed to be serving as Hiryuu-samaâs reincarnation.Â
What, exactly, was he supposed to do or say in this situation? How had this situation even come around? So many thoughts, questions, things he wanted to say popped into his head. Now was not the time for that, though. Not for any of it.Â
ăI would never resent you... Or my brothers, Iâve even lost any resentment I might have held toward Ouryuu over the years...ă
Honestly, it had never been in his nature to hold resentment towards anyone. Still... He couldnât say heâd expected his kingâs reasoning for not telling about his powers. Protection, sheltering, heâd thought of all kinds of reasons. The two of them had been close, heâd come around to think it was only natural Hiryuu-sama would want to protect him from such a cruel truth.Â
Upon hearing the reasoning though, his face moved into a rather calm smile. He was afraid. Honestly, that reasoning was something heâd heard before. A dry laugh came from the Ouryuuâs chosen warrior as his golden hair swayed with the shaking motions of his head.Â
ăThis is rather ironic to me. I... Never told my brothers about my powers, either. For the same reasons.... I was afraid. I guess... I didnât want to be feared  or hated by them because of it. So... I canât possibly hold this against you, My King. I kept it a secret for similar reasons, after all.ă
đđ·
Send me đđ· to put a flower crown on my museâs head for their reaction
Coming from Soo-won of all people, it was certainly a gesture that caught him off guard. He and the king got on well, of course, and they were prone to being rather laid back with each other from time to time. Despite that fact, though, Zeno hadnât been expecting this openly playful gesture from the more mature between the two of them.Â
ăAh, you caught Zeno by surprise, Ou-san!ă
Then, with the same playfulness the king had just exhibited, Zeno brought his own ring of flowers from behind his back. The other had beaten him to the punch so it might not get as much of a reaction, but hey this made things just as fun. He mimicked the action of the king (though he had to stand on his toes to be able to reach) and placed the ring in his hands on top of the otherâs head.
ăZeno also made one, it seems you beat him to the punch! Though perhaps something so childish doesnât suit Ou-san as well.ă
â°â°ââ±â± Zenoâs response hadnât really been in the realm of possibilities heâd considered, but that didnât mean it shook him completely. Though it was true that he was surprised by the explanation, by the idea of not only the dragon warriors being real but one of them being in front of him; he wasnât a fool. As much as he disliked the idea of the Heavens intervening with his decisions over Kouka, he wasnât a stranger to the idea that they could exist. Heâd read the legends, heâd heard the rumors⊠Of course, it was quite different to be faced by the reality of it all, but it was still not completely incredible. He wanted to give this a chance. Because, truly, he was curious. If what Zeno was telling him was⊠Well, perhaps itâd be better not to get so far ahead.
â So⊠what youâre saying is that youâre one of the dragon warriors that fought along King Hiryuu during the founding of Kouka? âÂ
He had to admit, the concept of immortality was hard to grasp⊠if anything, it hurt him to just imagine such a thing. Still, there were so many questions he wanted to ask; the simple matter of not being able to die didnât seem nearly as important as all others that crossed his thoughts. It wasnât exactly as if one question were more important than others rather than he had so many he couldnât find a way to organize his thoughts properly.
â Forgive me if Iâm taking too much time to think over this; I hope you donât take my silence as an offense. I have no ill will towards you or your mere existence; I wouldnât wish your fate upon anyone. âÂ
Maybe he was being a bit too direct while also changing drastically his position in regards to the other, but he couldnât help it. Knowing he was facing someone that held such wisdom earned his wholehearted respect; he couldnât hold himself as if he were more in front of a millennial being that had made it possible for the Kingdom to even exist. And it was strange, perhaps, how easily he believed in him before even hearing another word; but everything heâd seen up until this point seemed to add up. And every word Zeno had spoken seemed to be honest too; something about them told him so⊠Maybe he was being a little too trusting.
Zeno was more than aware of the kingâs stance on the four dragons as he spoke. Perhaps it was because he knew about it that he felt like he was forcing the legend on the other at that point. Still, he knew that Soo-won would know he was lying if he tried to shrug it off. Especially since his regeneration had been witnessed first-hand.Â
Honestly, he was more than a little scared about what would happen from there. The time heâd spent with the young king up until then... Well, it had technically been more as a prisoner than anything, but it wasnât unpleasant. The thought of being judged because of his powers scared him... but he couldnât lie in this situation, either. That would only make matters worse.Â
ăYes, youâre correct. Iâm... One of the dragon warriors who began the legend and fought alongside King Hiryuu.ă
Honestly, the silence as the king thought was excruciating for Zeno. He understood how confused Soo-won must be, and didnât want to take the silence to mean anything negative. However, past experience with his powers had led him to be naturally concerned.Â
So, when the other had reassured him that the silence wasnât a sign of offense, he was able to relax a little more. The thing that had concerned him most was the otherâs distaste for being affected by gods and theology. It was one of the only areas the two of them disagreed on, and what made him most concerned about the situation.Â
ăItâs quite alright. Zeno understands this is a lot to take in. He also hopes you understand that he doesnât intend to force you to accept such things as godly powers, either. He finds your self-sufficiency admirable.ă
Well, the miss was the reincarnation of Hiryuu, so she was technically the one to accept their powers, anyway. Still, he was honestly glad for the boyâs lack of attachment to the Hiryuu legend. It allowed them to talk as equals, and helped make his time with Soo-won more enjoyable, even if he knew the miss and mister wouldnât really approve of that.Â
đđ· - from Kaya tbh â„
ăEh?ă
The rather bemused sound had come from Zeno as the ring of flowers was dropped lightly on his head. He looked up at the smiling face on the girl heâd been living with for a short while, and couldnât help but smile back in return.Â
ăAh, thank you! It seams you beat me in the present-giving game.ă
The blond laughed cheerfully, wrapping his arms around the girlâs shoulders. Kaya was like an adorable little ball of sunshine, for being as sick as she was. It was hard not to want to laugh and smile when he was around her. Perhaps that sunshine was even rubbing off onto him a little bit; heâd been much more cheerful lately than he had been in a while.Â
ăSo Iâll give you a hug in congratulations.~ă

Remember the hot springs OAD and how it killed us via hairdos? Because I do.
ć°ăă Suspicious. It wasnât like people to travel through their village, let alone stop and hand things out willingly. This man didnât seem to be from the capital - he wasnât sent to provision them, so why was he doing it? By general appearance he didnât appear to be that oldâŠcouldnât he have been eating that food himself? Gnnngrrrbglr
The howling in the small ladâs stomach pushed the logical reasoning from his mind in place of desire to eat. It had been at least three days since his last meal, which was little more than dead roots, and if this free food was poisoned heâd rather die that way than starve to death. So he moved from his strategic position that had been the corned of a nearby hut towards the man that was dressed in such bright colors.
As he approached he couldnât help but to wonder why heâd thought this man would do them harm? He almost radiated a warmth that Yoon hadnât known in a long time. There was something familiar about it, something kind and giving and if the poor boy hadnât been so hungry it might have moved him to tears.
Coming up behind the golden entity heâd hoped to be able to gauge him better but when the other heard his footsteps and turned to face him Yoon found himself frozen in spot. Cheeks turning the faintest shade of pink and eyes darting to the ground between their shoes he was barely able to speak audibly ââŠDo you have any more?â
Zeno wasnât ignorant to the presence of the small figure staring him down. Due to the poor state of things, most of the other children had instantly jumped at the possibility of food. It made him sympathetic towards them, poor things having to live on as little as they did. Really, these young lives were the ones that needed the food more than him.
So, when he noticed there was one that didnât come up to him, he found himself thinking. Perhaps, was he just shy? No, that wasnât the case, Zeno could tell. He was being cautious. This boy was nervous of taking food from someone he didnât know.Â
In other words.... He was an incredibly clever lad, wasnât he?
With that revelation, Zeno couldnât help feeling a bit relieved when the other came up to him. He wasnât sure if it was because he was being trusted, or just because the other was so hungry he didnât care, but it didnât matter much. Either way, it only meant he could help one more child get through another day, so he was happy.Â
ăAh, yes.~ Â Zenoâs got just a bit more here. Feel free to take it.ă
He brought out a small pouch of food, setting it before the young lad. Honestly, he wished there was more that he could do than just pass out small amounts of food and water. He didnât know much about medicine and healing the sick, though... so this was all he could do.Â
ăYou must really be hungry, right? Times are really hard these days...ă
â°â°ââ±â± It was hard not to smile seeing how insistent Zeno was about the whole matter. Truly, he was right: he wasnât okay in the slightest; but he couldnât admit to that, itâd be akin to giving up and he wasnât ready for it. So instead he just nodded, letting the other hold onto him as if it were nothing, as if he didnât want to lean in and cry himself dry. There wasnât really much else he could do, though, just lift his chin up and fake a smile.
â I promise, really. â His voice was still weak, and his cheeks hurt as if his own body tried to prove how big a lie that was; but itâd have to do.Â
He couldnât tell him the truth, he couldnât have him worry like that when he knew far too well heâd rather cry himself to sleep than seek for counseling. He was stronger than that and in time this wound would heal just like any other. If he was able to get past the death of his father, then he could get past losing them. He could live by on his own, it wouldnât be the first time he had no one to come to and it certainly wouldnât be the last either.Â
Joo-Doh was still around though, wasnât he? And he could tell he understood when he wasnât in the right state of mind and would leave him alone; maybe Zeno could do that too.
This king... Zeno would commend his diligence in trying to keep a strong face, at least. Well, part of him had known, when he initiated this little conversation. Heâd known that the other wouldnât give away his true feelings that easily --
after all, they were the same in that regard.Â
ăIn that case... Zeno canât really say anything but âitâs a promiseâ.ă
He knew it was a lie. Still, at the same time, Zeno also knew that there were just some times people needed to be left alone, to an extent. It was just... He also knew just how suffocating that solitude could be if someone had too much of it. Taking time to right your thoughts on your own was all well and good, but there were some things you need others for.
At this point, he was done being a father. If that wouldnât work on this one... Heâd be a peer. His face took on a rather melancholy smile, resigning what he was trying to do to being a foolâs errand. Well, they hadnât known each other too long at this point, so perhaps he had been asking a bit much in trying to discuss the topic with Soo-won.Â
ăZeno understands the need for solitude, so he doesnât want to push you too far. Itâs just that... he also knows how it feels to drown in that solitude.ă
Unexpectedly, those sincere words had come from him. He hadnât really meant to bring it up, and he was sure he seemed far from a solitary person to most others. Still... That ocean of loneliness was always pushing him deeper, so he knew how hard it was to progress when you pushed others away --Â
he wanted to be a small island the king could use for escape from that ocean when he needed it, perhaps? It was hard to tell, so he just went back to his usual, smile and waved the topic off.
ăIf you insist, however, Zeno will make due with ânext timeâ. ă
@hanaycme
;; As far as the âimmortal Kayaâ thing goes. Itâs super tempting, and has the potential to be super cute and feelsy, but hereâs the thing:
I donât think Zeno would wish his immortality on anyone, even if it means being left alone. I donât think his thing was a âmake her immortal tooâ prayer, as much as âI want to be with her longerâ. Whether itâs a few days, a few years, he at least wanted to be able to stay with her. He wanted her to live a full life, without it being cut short. He wasnât so much asking Ouryuu to make her immortal, he just wanted Ouryuu to save her. To let her live at least a little while longer so they could be happy that much longer.Â
Of course Ouryuu couldnât hear him at that point but... yâknow.
Then again itâs been a while since Iâve read those chapters so I could be wrong... but I guess that means I have to read the feels again hahah.

Shin-Ah walked up to Zeno, a flower crown in his hands. Once he was in front of the other, he gently placed it on top of his head. ((Welcome back~!))
The feeling of the flower crown dropping his head had initially surprised Zeno. The blond glanced upward when it happened, blue eyes inquiring about the situation. His hand reached up, gently feeling at the ring of flowers that was starting to mingle with long strands of golden hair.  After a moment, though⊠His face turned from quizzical into a childish grin.Â
ăAh, thank you so much, Seiryuu!ă
He was grateful to get such a cute gesture from the taller dragon. Honestly, Seiryuu was such a cute kid, doing something like this! It had been a while since a gesture like this had been made for him, so he decided to wrap the taller male in his arms affectionately. It was his way of emphasizing his âthank youâ, since he didnât have anything to give the Seiryuu in return.Â
King, whatâs wrong?
