Just another day hangin’ with bison at the @armandbayounaturecenter! ABNC is the largest urban wilderness preserve in the United States and contains 2500 acres of natural wetlands forest, prairie, and marsh habitats and over 370 species of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians. It’s in Pasadena and is a mere 40 minutes from downtown Houston. The Center was founded in 1974 as a result of efforts begun by an environmental visionary, Armand Yramategui. The holiday season is a perfect time to get into the habit of GIVING MORE, especially to those who have less. The @phish song “More” came up on my phone first thing this morning and it reminded me how much I love that song (full lyrics below). Happy Holidaze to one and all! I love seeing friends and strangers in person and in Facebooklandia and in Twitterlandia and in Instagramlandia. You make my world merry and bright and inspire me to love, to do, to speak out, to grow. I am so grateful and my heart is full. My desire for this holiday season is that we all connect more, human to human, heart to heart. Let's look for our similarities rather than our differences. Way number 6 of the "12 Ways to Ignite Your Life" in my #IgniteYourOwnLife art project (www.IgniteYourOwnLife.com) is "Connect with love (love)." I hope you will do that, now and always. It makes a HUGE difference when you can adjust your attitude and your heart as you head out the door so that you focus on love and connection rather than on hurrying and traffic and your to do list (I'm writing this for myself too!). So how can we connect heart-to-heart? Here are some ideas: *Exchange names with everyone with whom you come in contact (the wait staff, the postal worker, the valet person, etc.). *Smile at all who cross your path. *Say kind things to strangers. *Make a point to laugh with others: watch stand-up comedians/funny movies/silly pet videos/have a joke contest/hang out with little kids. *Spend quality, non-screen time with friends and family. *Volunteer (here's a good place to start: www.VolunteerHouston.org). *Stand up, speak out, find a way to change the world.
