INDEFINITE HIATUS

“You… happy?” She’s had plenty of time to get used to the idea, and while she is excited she isn’t sure about him. He’d been gone for a long time. At least she’s helped with babies back on her tribe and they have his mother to help. “I am…”

“Yeah, I’m happy.” He replies, giving her a smile and squeezing her hand gently. “I was afraid you were going to have the baby before I escaped and found you again.”

He could hear the way Jasper’s voice had more emotions than it should, “I had to get away for awhile—” Murphy’s voice is just above a whisper now, “I was having problems with my mother and her boyfriend. I couldn’t stay there anymore is all.” he shifts awkwardly, “A lot of shit was going on. I couldn’t get ahold of you, and I’m sorry about that—”

“I thought you were dead or something, Murphy! I’ve been looking for you since you just up and disappeared! I’ve had everyone looking for you! What the fuck were you thinking?  You couldn’t leave a note? Couldn’t call? Couldn’t even send a shitty email or something and say you were okay?”

“I’m sorry—” it was all Murphy could muster up when he had finally approached the taller teen. He didn’t know what to say. He didn’t know how to explain his disappearing for months. He was back now though. He was back, a little broken, but he was here. He took a deep breath, “Will you say something? Yell at me? Curse at me? Tell me off? Something?”

He can’t do anything but stare at the other male for several minutes. He’d been gone for months, without a single world. Just one day here, the next day gone. Jasper had been worrying himself sick over what  could have happened, he’d had the police involved and everything and John Murphy had the nerve to just show up out of nowhere with “I’m sorry.” The male blinks several times and he’s angry and relieved and upset and happy all at the same time. “Where the hell have you been?”

Murphy’s eye lids fluttered when he felt hands card through greasy brown locks. He had just skipped his gym class, and was currently sleeping in an abandoned classroom, “How’d you find new?” He mumbles, it would have come off as annoyed if it want for the teens small smile.

She laughs softly, tucking one of her braids behind her ear. Rose squeezes his hand gently, still surprised that he was back. “Heavy… And tired.” The girl will probably not be able to go much longer from the looks of her.

“Well, it won’t be much longer.” He says softly, giving her a smile before kissing her hand. “We’re gonna have our baby soon, Rose.” There’s a hint of excitement in his voice, but he’s also nervous. He didn’t know anything about taking care of children. It made him extra glad his mother was here.

It’s an utterly helpless feeling, having no idea how to handle helping him deal with the news of his father. She smiles softly at the mention of herself, hands rubbing small circles on her swollen belly. If only she knew enough English to explain what a help Leslie had been, assuring her that things were going as they should. Octavia had been a saving grace as well, being translator for them. “Baby soon… yes Lesli?”

“Mhm. Very soon.” Leslie replies with a smile, wiping away the tears still streaking down her cheeks. Jasper grins, glancing over at Rose again before moving to kneel down in front of her, taking one of her hands. “How do you feel?”

Tenderly she runs her fingers through his hair, nails gently stroking his scalp. “How’s that?”

He bites his lip because why did Rose just have to be so nice? Why did she have to make it so hard? “Rose....”

She is more than happy that she’s been allowed to be a part of this moment, feeling accepted into the family. However, with the child pressing against her spine she can’t help but think of her own parents. How she’d had to leave them for the one she chose. She still can’t regret it, and she sits down, unable to do much standing without her body screaming in pain.

After several long minutes just hugging his mother, he finally pulls back. He already knows, but he has to ask anyway. “Dad, he...?” Leslie shakes her head with teary eyes. “I’m so sorry, Jasper.” He just nods. He’s already dealt with so much death and he’d already accepted that both of his parents were probably dead, so to see his mother was a gift in itself. “Thank you, for taking care of Rose.” The woman smile, glancing over at the grounder girl. “You don’t have to thank me for that, Jasper. She is carrying my grand-baby after all. Not to mention I’ve been told my son loves her a lot, and that’s enough for me.”

“You want me to massage your scalp?” She offers, wanting to make him feel better.

“Uh, yeah, sure.” Man, he was a real jackass, wasn’t he?

She smiled, hand going to rest automatically on her swollen belly. “Let you go first,” she murmured, gesturing towards the entrance. “Hug nomon. Mother.”

He gives her one more smile before entering the tent, his eyes immediately landing on his mother. She was alive. She was really alive. “Mom.” He breathes, moving to wrap his arms around the woman who is quick to return the gesture and quick to start crying too, though it’s not like Jasper could blame her.

I love really every single one of you. But since I wasn’t that active lately. I couldn’t really put a lot of people in this small bia list. Maybe with 500 followers I will do something more with it. Will see about that.
