Alisa stood almost in the centre of the empty Throne Room. Her attention was solely on the State Portraiture of Queen Eleanor & the King. The separate paintings of each Royal were apart on either side of the entry wall, but they matched, and they looked absolutely magnificent in their coronation dress. To think that hers and Arthur’s would soon replace both of them was a reality she was still wrapping her mind around. Being groomed for this life, and facing it are two different things. In the midst of mourning they’re all meant to carry on as if this isn’t a devastating blow.

A Kingdom has lost its monarch, children have lost a father, a father-figure in Selena’s case, and a woman has lost her life partner; regardless of the circumstances that brought them together. As her mind dwells on the members of House Godwin, she fails to consider her own grief and her place in the family. 

The throne room seemed like an easy fit to that. Nobody would want to go in until the coronation or so he thought. Before he tries to scurry, he spots Alisa looking at the portraits and can’t help but think how he would never be up there and then there was the other loss that his fathers would be taken down and replaced with Arthurs. 

“I didn’t think I should be seen,” he says moving forward to his sister in law and looks up at the portraits. It's strange to see them now and knowing they’d be changed so soon. “With everything going on, there’s still everything that happened in that damned paper that’s adding to the mood here. Not that it was true. She just writes lies and everyone believes them.”

Her smile grew as he said that despite being done with libraries, he would help her with her endeavor. That was the Nicholas she remembered, always willing to just spend time with her and treat her in the kindest manner. It had been part of the reason why they had been so close when they had been younger, whenever it was allowed, they had spent time together. “I do appreciate you putting your aversion to libraries aside for me. I promise you will have my eternal gratitude” she assured him as she took one last sip of her tea, finding the cup empty. “His library is untouched, as the rest of our home had been upon my arrival. I do not wish to simply get rid of his books altogether, that seems wrong” it felt like she was getting rid of something that had been so integral to who her father had been, “I felt a fair compromise was to reduce the collection, to be able to add my own books, and relocate the books back to our country estate, there’s plenty of room there” the library and her father’s old study both had plenty of empty space.

“I’m used to my mothers events and we know that she has a reputation for her grand events but just because others do it, that doesn’t mean you have to. Maybe it could be refreshing for society to go to a more simple event.” There could be many reasons for something simple and he knew from his parents meetings that the noble families were spending more than they had, he didn’t want to think that of Catherine but knew it could be a possibility from before her parents died. The crown wasn’t as wealthy as the people thought and the higher taxes to alleviate that hadn’t helped peoples opinion on them. Clear intentions could only mean one thing and a surprising stir inside him was starting to happen. The surprise of it, he thought. “And you don’t hold that for him? Knowing you, I have no doubt that he would hold it for you.”
