charming is the first thought that comes to mind when he hears the other speak. not something he had expected from his fellow college student, especially since the ravenette had become something of a loner since he got into tokyo u, but he supposes this is what happens when the teacher forces a randomly assigned duo project on you.

“likewise.” hikaru takes his hand and gives it a firm shake; “hikaru amaya–but please, just call me hikaru.”

“so whatcha think of the group project?” especially one on the death penalty of all things. 

            ❝ i WILL say i certainly find it more interesting than an assigned book report on the classics or anything like that . i could never quite understand people’s undying devotion to such outdated themes - sure , it isn’t like there’s nothing to be gained there , but i’d much rather put time into figuring out how to solve more current issues . ❞

          a feigned embarrassed smile found its way to his lips as he cuts himself off , realizing he’d gone a bit off - topic from the question that had actually been asked . a light chuckle accompanied it before he continued .

         ❝ sorry , i got a bit off - topic there . i don’t want to take up TOO much of your time with this , since i’ve never met anyone who loves group projects . personally - ❞ exactly how much did he want to share right off the bat ? something that wouldn’t show off his extreme kira ideals , but not completely lying , either . more like something light would say .

           ❝ i don’t believe in NEEDLESS killing or violence . however , i have always had a strong sense of justice - my father is a deputy director - so i DO believe that people who commit senseless murder or acts of violence should get the death penalty in return . after all , it only seems fair . ❞

                         something about this boy seemed off to kokichi the moment he spotted him.  it wasn’t that it was uncommon for someone to write things down in their notebook on the way home;  he was known to try and rush homework before he got home.  but for them to pay so much attention to names that they caught off the news …  that  was weird.

                          he trailed this mysterious person from the side,  tilted his head and squinted as he tried to figure out what,  exactly,  was making him feel so many weird vibes.  keen ears caught onto his mumbling …  any smart person would just leave him alone.  but kokichi was not one to just leave observations alone.

                            so he kept pace,  praying not to be seen.

               light continues walking , an ever - growing feeling looming over him that he was being watched by someone . though he was near constantly used to that feeling anyway from his shinigami , this felt different . human . 

              it wasn’t HARD for him to mentally keep the names checked for a while longer as he feigned a more innocent act . had no idea if he was being watched as light yagami , simple as that , or under suspicion of being kira . better to assume the latter while acting like the former . pulls out a novel he had on him rather than his death note , opening to the page he’d ‘ left off ‘ on , simply standing there reading for several moments .

             but that gaze was starting to get on his nerves . turning on his heel in the direction he thought he’d felt it from ( but of course not noticing anyone ; they’re not quite as dumb as light would have liked . easier that way . ) he’d snap the book shut in a fluid motion before trying to draw out his stalker .

Light is cancelled because they like sleeping the recommended 7-9 hours per night, they're a double-top, oh, and don't forget, they can read. Blocked.

he can’t help but let out a small chuckle at that, faint smile coming onto his face at the other’s comment before he turns away from him, moving to grab one of the blends off of the shelves decorating leblanc.  “it depends. does that pretty face come with a phone number?”
