Reflections on wet pavements. The city itself is a natural watercolourist! Itβs been a long rainy day at the library, and although I feel frustrated with myself and my work right now, it was worth rolling up just for this. 2016, Photo Diary, April 11.

I've seen a lot of people saying that Kev was introduced as a proper villain and then turned into a comedy character, but I don't understand that. He was only on the show for roughly 2 and a half months last year. How long was he a villain and when did he turn into a comedy character? Was he still a villain when he moved into the village? When he beat someone up who owed him money and gave presents to the Andersons immediately after (kind Kev was born)? When Kev had an emotional breakdown one day after and said that he wanted to change but didn't know yet who he was on the outside? This was the time when Kev started to become multilayered. He was shown to be vulnerable and also showed remorse. He wanted to be different; he didn't want to be the person he had been in prison anymore. And I think that this idea is currently being revisited.
I think, for me, Kev only felt properly different during his first episode when he visited Robert. I would expect that he would at least have been a "proper" villain for several weeks if I were going to agree that he was "introduced" as a villain.
It's not necessarily bad storytelling when a character is teased as a villain and then it comes out that they aren't. Kev already made jokes on his first day (pick your jaw up off the floor first, yeah, so I don't trip over it), so I also don't know exactly when he turned into a comedy character.
