Incredible anamorphic artwork covering almost 50 buildings

 Created by street artist eL Seed in Cairo, this script lettering aligns when viewed from a point on the Moqattam Mountain. Designed for the community of Zaraeeb, the Arabic script is in a style the artist calls ‘Calligrafitti’:

“Anyone who wants to see the sunlight clearly needs to wipe his eye first.” ‘إن أراد أحد أن يبصر نور الشمس، فإن عليه أن يمسح عينيه’

Electronic Superhighway, a new exhibit at London’s Whitechapel Gallery, celebrates new technology while simultaneously questioning it. 

The exhibit is arranged anti-chronologically, so stepping into the first gallery space reveals a visual cacophony of contemporary artwork.  This is art in 2016: almost impossible to separate from digital technology. As you proceed through the exhibit it traces the impact of computers and the Internet on art over time. Artifacts and footage from the 1966 festival 9 Evenings: Theatre and Engineering concludes your trip back through time in a quieter space.
