take a card, any card.

a drop of energy and something else hit the street. it sent a shock blast all around the area, setting off car alarms, causing dogs to bark wildly, and a disruption in the atmosphere. Magus was here. and ready to cause hell. he stood up, standing in the hole that he created in the middle of the street from landing down hard. he stretched and smirked satanically. “my, my, my how things have changed.” his body effortlessly levitated up out of the hole and onto the road. he walked around and took in the new Earth. His outfit draping in the wind as he walks around with his cocky persona shining from miles away. “you there….” his voice eerily creepy. “have you happened to see a man that looks just like me… only dumber and seems happier.” he said in disgust about Warlock. 

Remy was showing a magic trick to someone in the street, liking to try cheering the public up around this time of year. He knows there’s some chaos going around with the pixies, but it just makes him glad that he stuck with the three cats from before the change. He drops the cards when the street seems to have been hit by something — the blast felt by everyone even the strangers he had been chatting with, who ran off. He picks up his cards, looking up to see someone else there now. “I have not, but Gambit will keep an eye out for you.” He slides the cards into his pocket. “Why are ya lookin’ for dis doppelgänger for?”

This is clearly the best plan she’s ever had. Gwen Stacy, tactical genius, slayer of fairies. She’ll be remembered for decades to come. “Look, I can’t buy them at CVS and that’s all that really matters, okay? Don’t mansplain my sugar problem, Remy.” But they’ll work–that’s what matters. She wonders if the pixies have flavor preferences; would they all fight over the red ones? Being tiny bundles of chaos and evil, they’d probably go for the yellow, like true monsters. She tears open the pack, pours them in her hand, sneaks one into her own mouth, and tosses a few at him. “Let’s do this.”

“I would never dream of it.” Remy grins for a moment, but raises his arms. “Gambit apologies though.” He was always about being respectful if possible, his attention turning back toward the candy they would be leaving for the pixies. Remy catches the candy when it’s thrown his way, and has a mischievous smile of his own on his face. He loves showing off a little — stealthily creeping up to the clearing ahead of them. He scattered the candies around in a small pile — hoping that will encourage the pixies to come out when they scatter. The thief moves back to their hiding spot, glancing over the crate to see if anything was happening yet. “Dis should be interestin’”

She’s not sure that she wants to see what happens when the fairies get sugar, but she’s willing to try it. She’s out of better ideas, and honestly just sort of wants to see what happens. Don’t let your memes be dreams, Gwen. “Not exactly,” she says. “Didn’t they stop selling those in, like, the nineties?” She fishes around in her pocket for a moment, and pulls out a slightly-melted pack of Skittles. Thank god she still has the diet of a child. “Will these work?” 

They might get hyper at first, but Remy hopes that giving them sugar will calm down the pixies when they crash from it. He was a little chaotic at heart, able to withstand whatever may happen — considering all the worse things he has endured in life. “I t’ink some places still have th’ sticks, but those should work jus’ fine.” Remy admits as he looks at the pack of skittles. Anything with sugar really will have the effect they’re looking for. “Gambit thinks we leave it out for dem to take as they please.”

“Out of all th’ t’ings to steak I wonder why your underwear?” Remy finds that interesting since the pixies could take anything that they own. Why resort to their clothes? He wasn’t going to try too stuck on such a minor detail. He was a master thief, being the king of his guild for a reason, and maybe he could help steal back what was taken. “I have an idea, it might be risky though. We could sneak in ta take somethin’ dat the pixies stole.” He likes a challenge, and something like this was the perfect one to put his skills to the test. He likes to put himself through they sometimes just to make sure he deserves his title.  “What do you think?”

There’s a proud smile forming on his face, looking over at the woman. “You know some of th’ best plans started out as stupid ones.” He says while waving a finger in the air for a moment.  He likes when someone listens to his schemes. “I’m just sayin’, maybe de pixies aren’t all bad. I made friends wid fairies before. I wonder why so many of dem came here all at once though, but they will have ta tire themselves out eventually, right? I jus’ wanna try talkin’ to one when it happens. You’re okay with taggin’ along?”

“I’m goin’ to guess dat it won’t, but I would like to see dis play out.” Remy admits, especially since this wasn’t his first experience with fairies. The last group he met had found him charming, but these are different.   “Do ya happen ta have some? We can try offering th’ sweet to ‘em at de same time. What do you think?” Remy asks curiously, a smile to his lips as his burning red eyes catches glimpse of some of the pixies flying around in the distance causing havoc.

“good. ‘cause jessica absolutely cannot afford it.” she grins, although she’s hardly above stealing a few bottles of booze. the bigger picture is her worry. she doesn’t stop to think if that makes her a bad person - she knows bad. she’s been bad, done bad. “good - i’m the one who does the picking up in my life, and no offense, but you’re not quite my type.”

“just like everything else.” she agrees. jessica falls into step beside him, speeding up just a little - it’s been a long day, she thinks, could he blame her? “do you even need to ask?” she grins, “first round on you - if you think you can afford it. and as long as you don’t hit on me.”

jessica shrugs. she’s not quite sure it was homesickness, but if it wasn’t, she couldn’t tell you what it was. “i think we’re all just lucky to be here. or maybe unlucky.” jess shrugs, watching smoke fade away into the air. the suggestion of a drink has her itching for one, and she lets out a long breath. “i bloody well hope they are.” she mutters in reply. “know where we can find one?”

jessica smirks at that. “i bet it isn’t.” it’s why she’s never aspired to leadership - and part of the reason she hardly ever trusts her leaders (other than the obvious reasons she never trusts anyone). in order to gain that respect and that trust, you have to lie, to cheat, to give up so many parts of yourself. “got the feeling i was needed. and much as i love space, i got a bit sick of saving other planets. for all the bad it did me, this place will always be home.” she’ll always feel an obligation to protect its innocent from a fate like her own, is what she means.

“You and me both,” she says. She can’t tell if it’s a come-on or a threat, just that the world is literally exploding around them, which is always a fun experience. Her spider sense doesn’t seem too irritated yet, which she’s taking as a good sign; she curls her fingers towards the triggers of her web-shooters, just in case, but she doesn’t raise an arm. She just looks at him with an eyebrow raised and her head slightly tilted. She’ll hear him out. 

“And what does living like you mean, exactly? Who are you?”

It comes naturally for Remy to be so charming, this isn’t an exception, but realizes how awkward that might seem if one doesn’t realize his intentions.  “It’s too bad there isn’t anywhere to vacation to anymore.” The man admits with a slight frown at his own words, although doesn’t last long. His eyes glance at her wrists then to the masked hero — not meaning to come off as a threat.

“My names Remy LeBeau. Some call me Gambit. I like livin’ life with a bit of sparkle. I’m theatrical some might say, got de dramatics. I know how ta have a good time. It’s a pleasure to meet you — I’m harmless I promise.” He says extending a hand out if she wished to shake hands.

jessica smirks. “most people would put organized, or maybe under control, before entertainment. but i respect that.” she shrugs, thinking about her days in spaceships, on other planets, far away from the chaos of her home. “quiet? hm. i suppose it would be, if you didn’t have a pack of idiots like my team to deal with. it’s like here, i suppose, but more filled with aliens and less with the disappointing nature of humanity, and the things we do to each other.”

there’s a wicked grin growing even bigger on harley’s lips. “ cool trick. “ it’s all so says at first as she watches the deck of cards. she’s no stranger to things like this. and it’s certainly ALWAYS entertaining to her. “ ooh—fun game… how about that one. “ she answers, pointing to the one thats currently mid air. “ i hope this ain’t any funny business though, gambit. since y’just became my buddy and all. but, i’m curious some me all that ya got, honey. “

“can’t steal it, i’m afraid - but with that accent and good looks of yours, you might be able to charm it off of her,“ sweeney added giving the man a nod. “fair as fair can get, friend,” sweeney added smiling a bit at the man and finding a sort of kinship with him. “you creole? or something along that nature? i was in new orleans recently myself, met baron samedi for drinks and resurrections - a bit more too.” the man he knew wasn’t human, not in the sense of purely being one - something about him was different, and sweeney liked it.

“oh, i don’t think you’ve got a chance, there. can’t cook anything other than like, a grilled cheese and maybe nachos.” she replies, letting out a self-deprecating huff of laughter. her eyebrows raise. “busy man.” she says, then she shrugs. “a little bit of this, a little bit of that… i’ve been thinking i miss space, a bit. might go back up there for a few years.”

“yeah, maybe.” jessica replies, unwilling to admit that her diet is mostly whisky and whatever takeout is closest at any given time. it’s not her fault she was never taught to cook - she was just taught to fight and kill. “you can cook, then?” she asks, then she lets out a deep breath. “haven’t got time for cats and laziness, myself.”
