Ship In a Bottle is so in your face with its Jewish coding and I love it! There is absolutely no possible way to deny the Jewish identity baked into every aspect of the world! You would have to read with your eyes closed to do that!
The very first scene of the main character is them wrapping a Shel Yad around their arm while reciting the Berachah.
Every entrance door has a mezuzah that all character touch when entering/leaving a house/boat.
The main character has a kosher kitchen and while that is a lot more work for me to draw, it is so worth it because Kashrut is super important to the mc! The mc is the most orthodox/traditional out of everyone in the main cast as well!
I was raised as an agnostic Jew by an agnostic Rabbi and Kabbalah/spiritualism was a big part of my childhood, which is why I write the magic system and religion the way I do. The overall religion is henotheistic (there is only one true big G god but said god split themself into ten divine spirits that embody the god’s will in order to create human life, according the big creation myth in this world.) And the magic system is inspired by ancient incantation bowls!
I know I talk about SIaB being so unapologetically Jewish all the time and it probably gets annoying but it’s because I feel so much closer to my culture when writing this story. (Plus I have been getting so many good recipes that I want to cook then add to my story)
