In this one especially, we’re seeing the take away of people in universe dealing with supers, leading to some of the points in the movie, both positive and negative. It was always there in The Avenger Movies and the like, but I hold to the fact that was more about the actions rather than the power itself being the cause of concern, and the powers present in the heroes being the thing that made it hard to hold anyone responsible at a level that felt real to the audience past brushing it off as something all heroes have to deal with.

Brand New Day, however, posits that it is the powers that affect the perception, even if they’re not slamming you in the face with it like they had in Civil War with Tony getting reamed out by that mother.

MJ’s comment about the inhibitor and Peter treating himself like a monster. The introduction of an inhibitor technology at all. The whole ‘powers are dangerous’ argument not leading into ‘be responsible’, but into an, underlying at first and then very much outright, ‘give them to us’ mindset like the one we see from Damage Control.

The way Banner gets sent to a psych ward, showing society’s view of superpowers taking a very firm stance in that even if it’s not your fault, it is, because you’re different and have the capacity for power, even despite your capacity for restraint.

And everyone that I’ve talked to who’s watched it has only reacted along the lines of ‘What’s going on here?? Why would they do that??’ Or they blame the writing or mock the title choice of the current run because it’s the easiest target.

Cale was actually feeling a little dizzy. Usually he had no issue blanking out the ancient powers’ voices to the back of his mind, but one of these voices was not like the others.

One of those was a voice that was and wasn't his own. One of those was of the Original Cale Henituse, and clearly not the one he'd met once before.
