“As much as I hated SAO, Yuuki Asuna was probably the most realistic and the most badass character (at least in the first arc). I like how she was rushing to get out of the game because she was losing her time and the real world. As much as I also like Elsa, I am also a little sad that Anna is seen as, for lack of a better term, “the spare.” When little girls can’t get an Elsa dress or doll or whatever, many settle with Anna…which strikes me as so strange because in my opinion Anna is one of the single best protagonists we’ve had in a Disney film in the last decade. She’s wonderfully flawed – being awkward, klutzy, impulsive, unrealistic, and overly trusting – but she also has a truly admirable sense of loyalty, tremendous courage, a humongous heart, a go-get-’em attitude, and amazing selflessness. Her flaws don’t hold her back, and she doesn’t ever think of herself as second best to or envy Elsa, because she’s her sister and she loves her. I should think any little girl should want to be like Anna.
It always breaks my heart when the fans of the movie ignore Anna for Elsa. I get Elsa has ice powers and that’s cool and all but Anna literally went on an adventure to save her sister who acted like she hated her. Anna loved Elsa so much she was willing to die for Elsa despite Elsa constantly shutting her out. Anna was just as flawed as Elsa was but frankly has more personality than Elsa does. Like, I get Elsa has a badass song but who isn’t sick of Let It Go by now? Anna is treated as the spare by the fandom and it’s heartbreaking since Frozen is honestly her movie. She is the protagonist, not Elsa. Elsa, for all intensive purposes, is the side character. Anna is the one who goes on the journey and saves the day, like her other princess counterparts. It’s a damn shame she is overlooked by the fandom.
Anna is my girl and I will defend her until the end. She is one of my favorite Disney characters. I even Disneybounded as her in 2013 when I went to Disney. I stood in line for over 2 hours to meet her (and Elsa but mostly Anna). Anna is also the sister I related to the most since I knew what it was like to be shut out by a family member as a kid. I constantly wanted to play with my 2 older cousins but they would’t have anything to do with me. I don’t have the happily ever after like Anna and Elsa but I grew up/moved on. However, I was a loner a kid and felt like Anna a lot growing up.

This is kind of important to me because not a lot of the kids have seen some of the older Disney films, meaning a lot of them don’t know about Esmeralda, Mulan, or Lilo and Nani.
Frozen isn’t the first movie about two sisters.

Frozen isn’t the first movie with a girl kicking absolute ass.
Frozen isn’t the ultimate feminstic movie…
But that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyed and loved by others. The only time I won’t like someone for liking Frozen is if they shame others for not liking it or having any oppositions. I mean, I love that movie, but even I know it’s not perfect. True appreciation comes with knowing that what you love isn’t perfect, but that it doesn’t take from how great it is.
