one of the more underrated negative things about elon musk buying twitter is him normalizing the fact that (social media) sites dont need to give a shit about making posts embed properly elsewhere, in fact theyre allowed to be annoying like the fake reddit video embeds. now some poor fool has to take on the financial burden of proper embeds to run fixupx or vxreddit or whatever so that society can have normal embeds just because it would cost 🤏 a liiiiiittle more to make someone maintain embeds every now and then and pay for the small amount of extra data to process.
